Chapter 329 No Way Back
"Miss, are you kidding me? Do you think I can't even tell if you're pregnant or not? Are you questioning my professional ability?" The obstetrician couldn't help but frown.
She scrutinized Sarah, who was young and whose behavior was quite displeasing.
Sarah paused, "No, that's not what I meant."
"My examination shows that you are one week pregnant. If you don't trust my judgment, you can try another hospital."
"I..." Sarah hadn't even started speaking.
The obstetrician called out to the door, "Next!"
Sarah, infuriated by the doctor's attitude, stormed out of the obstetrics department.
Just an obstetrician, yet with such a bad attitude.
She went to several other hospitals for check-ups, but the results were the same.
She was carrying Hubert's child, an illegitimate child.
Sarah had been experiencing morning sickness for the past few days, and her period was late. The last time Hubert and she had sex, he didn't use a condom.
Unexpectedly, it happened just like that. She felt disgusted that she was actually pregnant with Hubert's child.
Sarah returned home, restless. What troubled her wasn't just this, but Margaret's cancer had been discovered.
Raymond liked Margaret so much, he would definitely hold someone accountable.
Hubert couldn't escape this, and if he spilled out something, what then? If she got implicated, knowing Raymond, if her deeds were exposed, she would be in big trouble.
Fortunately, she made that call today and got the news in advance. If nothing unexpected happened, Hubert would soon be questioned by Raymond.
She needed to talk to Hubert and figure out a plan.
Sarah didn't text or call Hubert; instead, she waited for him at the entrance of his villa.
It was quite late when Hubert saw Sarah at the door. She was wrapped in an expensive fur coat, wearing a tight pink dress underneath, showing off her sexy legs.
She wore a nude high heels, standing in the cold wind and snowstorm.
Hubert's eyes flashed with surprise and a hint of pity.
He strode forward, wrapped his arm around her waist, and patted her butt, "Why did you come without saying a word? Didn't even call. Are you cold?"
"I wanted to surprise you and talk about something."
"What is it?"
"Let's talk inside."
Inside the villa, Hubert pressed Sarah against the wall, lifted her skirt with his big hand, and started touching her.
She felt disgusted, but needing his help, she forced a smile, "Hubert, be gentle."
Afterward, Sarah clinked glasses with Hubert, "Hubert, I have a gift for you."
"This gift, it's not you, is it?"
"No, here you go." Sarah, wearing gloves, placed a car key in Hubert's hand.
Hubert looked down; it was a BMW.
"I bought this car with the cash you gave me. It's yours now."
"Why are you suddenly so attentive to me?"
"Because I've thought it through, Hubert, I'm willing to marry you."
"Really?"
"Yes, I'm pregnant. It's your child." Sarah handed the test results to Hubert.
Hubert looked at them, both surprised and bewildered. At his age, he didn't expect to have a child.
Sarah kept pouring him drinks, and to his joy, Hubert drank a few more glasses.
"Stay with me, and once I get divorced, I'll marry you. Our child won't be an illegitimate one. Sarah, I love you." Hubert looked at Sarah and suddenly spoke very seriously.
Then he leaned in and kissed her lips again.
After all the buildup, Sarah probed, "Has Raymond contacted you recently?"
"No, he hasn't. Why do you ask?" Hubert frowned, still jealous of Raymond.
But since Sarah was willing to marry him and have his child, he didn't mind so much anymore.
Sarah breathed a sigh of relief; it seemed Hubert didn't know that Raymond had discovered what he did.
Suddenly, the phone rang.
Hubert released Sarah's waist, picked up the phone, and after seeing the caller ID, his expression changed slightly. He kissed Sarah, "Sweetie, I need to take this call."
"Okay." Sarah smiled gently.
After the call, Hubert hurriedly returned and went to the closet to find clothes.
Sarah followed, puzzled, "Where are you going?"
"I don't know what's up with Raymond, but Alvin just called, asking me to leave Silverbrook immediately and go to Everpeak Mountain City's hospital."
"But you just drank."
"Don't worry, you know my skills." Hubert thought Sarah was concerned about him and reassured her.
When he put on his shirt, Sarah leaned against the door frame, smiling, "Hubert, do you think Raymond knows about Margaret's cancer?"
Hubert's hand, buttoning his shirt, paused. He turned around, squinting, "Are you scared?"
"I'm a woman; how can I not be scared? But I'm more afraid of something happening to you. I'm carrying your child now, so of course, I want you to be safe." Sarah bit her lip.
Hubert was deeply moved. This was the first time Sarah had shown concern for him. He pulled her into his arms and kissed her forcefully.
He only let go when Sarah was out of breath.
"Don't be afraid. You have my child now; I won't let you get involved. Besides, Raymond is too dumb to know. Don't scare yourself." Hubert put on his coat, tied his tie, and before leaving, kissed her forehead, a farewell kiss, "Take care of our child. I'll come back to marry you and give you a home."
"What if we get found out?"
"Find someone to take the fall, easy as pie. Don't worry, I still like the ruthless you."
"Then I'll wait for you to come back." Sarah smiled gently, stood on tiptoe, and kissed his lips, suppressing the disgust in her heart.
"Drive the car I gave you; it's like I'm going with you," Sarah said.
"Okay." Hubert smiled and left the villa.
Sarah watched his back, the gentle smile in her eyes gradually disappearing, replaced by coldness and gloom.
It was easy to find someone to take the fall, but how could she miss such a good opportunity to get rid of Hubert?
'Hubert, I hope you never come back. Your child will soon be aborted, turning into a pool of blood, and will soon join you.' She cursed in her head.
Sarah sneered. She had been under Hubert's control for so long, and now the opportunity had finally come. In the end, she had to thank Margaret. If Margaret hadn't exposed her illness, she wouldn't have had the chance to act.
