Chapter 186 What Did He Get After Enduring Until the End
Right now, Raymond was fuming, feeling the urge to strangle Margaret. How could she treat him and their child like this? He'd handed over fifty percent of Hughes Group shares and a hundred million dollars in cash. Plus, he'd already put fifty million dollars into Marlon's medical account for treatment. She took all that and promised to fulfill his wishes!
He'd been such a fool to believe her. He even canceled work to take her on a trip because she had trouble sleeping. She was cold and distant the whole time, never even cracking a smile.
He put up with it all! But what did he get in return? Their child was aborted early! Raymond's grip tightened around Margaret's neck, his fingers turning white, veins bulging on his broad hand.
"Margaret, go to hell!" Raymond's eyes were bloodshot.
Margaret closed her eyes, her throat nearly crushed. She thought she was used to his curses. But every time she heard them, it felt like her heart was being torn apart. His words pierced her, one after another, until her heart was beyond repair.
They were husband and wife, once so loving! How did it come to this, exchanging harsh words, with him only cursing her to death? She couldn't tell if her tears were from the suffocating pain or the despair and helplessness in her heart.
Raymond saw her tears, a flash of heartache and shock in his angry expression. Suddenly, sweet memories from the past flashed in his mind.
It was when they had just gotten married, Margaret clinging to his waist, kissing the corner of his lips, and saying with a smile, "Raymond, promise me you'll never make me cry, and never be mean to me. I'm most afraid of pain. I want to be happy with you every day."
Of course, he promised her. But he never expected to break that promise and end up here. He remembered what she had said to him. "Raymond, as long as you promise to help the Hughes Family and take care of my parents, your wish will come true. I will fulfill it for you."
"Raymond, I will act according to the contract!"
"Raymond, I like you, I will always like you."
Back then, Raymond asked, "What if I'm not good to you?"
Margaret replied, "That won't happen. I'm confident you'll be good to me for a lifetime."
Kisses, intimacy, her cooking, matching his clothes, tying his tie—countless memories, sweet, sad, desperate, helpless, flashed through Raymond's mind like old photographs. Raymond's eyes were bloodshot. Large, scalding tears welled up in his eyes.
Margaret's face grew paler, her breath more erratic and weak. Raymond suddenly changed his mind. He couldn't let her off so easily! Raymond suddenly released her throat.
Margaret, losing her balance, hit the glass window. The pain made her gasp. Margaret opened her eyes and saw Raymond glaring at her, still furious.
"Aren't you going to fulfill my wish? Why can't you bear to do it?" Margaret sneered.
Margaret thought, 'Could it be that he couldn't bear to let me die? Does he still have feelings for me? Does he still care about me?'
His cold words shattered her heart into pieces. "I'm keeping you alive just to torment you!" Raymond suddenly leaned in. His breath hit her face, making her uneasy and nervous.
"What are you doing?" Margaret frowned, pushing him away. This made Raymond's frown deepen.
Suddenly, the car door flew open. Before she could react, she was yanked out of the car. She hit the ground hard, the concrete scraping her palms raw. The burning pain made her whole hand go numb.
"Margaret, even if you stripped naked now, I wouldn't touch you! I won't let you have a good time! From now on, every day of your life will be filled with despair and regret!" Raymond's hateful gaze bore into her.
The car door slammed shut. Raymond drove off. Margaret was still in a daze. She hadn't seen Raymond's hateful gaze in a long time. Seeing it now was still shocking.
"Ms. Hughes, are you okay?" Suddenly, a strong arm helped her up.
Margaret looked up and saw Daniel in casual clothes. "Mr. Taylor, what are you doing here?" Margaret smiled bitterly.
Daniel said his father, Joe Taylor, was sick, and he came to visit him in the hospital.
Margaret always thought that illegitimate children didn't have good relationships with their biological fathers. However, Daniel and his father weren't like that. Maybe because Joe's father didn't have other children and treated Daniel sincerely, there was no estrangement.
Margaret slowly stood up, her legs numb. She almost fell. Luckily, Daniel caught her in time and said with concern, "Ms. Hughes, be careful."
This scene was seen by Raymond, who was driving back. Raymond gripped the steering wheel and laughed bitterly. He was worried she might get into trouble alone, so he came back.
But he didn't expect to see this! Did she abort their child because of Daniel? They weren't even divorced yet, she took the benefits but went back on her word. Was Daniel so good that Margaret liked him this much?
He was such a fool; only he cared about this marriage, this relationship. Margaret had long liked someone else. Raymond's fist slammed heavily on the steering wheel, and he sped away. He wouldn't be soft-hearted anymore.
Raymond thought to himself, 'Margaret, you forced me, don't blame me for being ruthless. You have worn out my last bit of affection and patience for you.'
Raymond took out his phone and dialed Hubert's number, saying, "From now on, stop all of Marlon's medical treatments!"
"But Mr. Howard, Mr. Hughes's body is too weak, doing this could kill him!"Although Hubert was in cahoots with Sarah, he was still shocked by Raymond's rash actions.
"He deserves to die! Anyone who dares to give him medication will be my enemy!" Raymond snorted coldly and hung up, then drove madly on the road.
Hubert called Sarah and said into the phone, "Sarah, I have good news for you, come to my house tonight!"
