Chapter 188 Raymond Had Long Hoped She Would Disappear

Margaret smirked sarcastically. Yeah, he couldn't wait any longer. If he could, why would he be taking wedding photos with Sarah the day she was diagnosed with late-stage cancer? Why would he let Sarah try to kill her so many times? Why wouldn't he even listen before smashing the voice recorder Ashley sent her?

Raymond had long hoped she would die. Margaret was sure of this cruel fact, but seeing him so close with Sarah still bothered her. It still hurt.

A few days ago, he forced her to apologize to Sarah. Outside the hospital room, she saw him and Sarah hugging tightly.

Margaret pursed her lips, her slender fingers resting on the glass window. A chill seeped through her fingertips and into her body. Her limbs instantly went cold, without a trace of warmth. She swallowed.

Daniel asked anxiously, "Ms. Hughes, you..."

Daniel also saw Raymond and Sarah drinking and chatting. He moved his lips, not knowing how to comfort her.

Margaret knew what he wanted to say. Even though he didn't say it, she understood. She forced a smile, turned around, and quickly walked away.

She was afraid Raymond and Sarah would see her outside the window. She didn't want to be discovered, didn't want to be seen as someone who didn't know her place. Daniel followed Margaret as she left.

Inside the bar.

Raymond paused for a long time without saying a word. Sarah smiled and asked, "You're not doing well, are you?"

Raymond felt a deep bitterness. Of course, he wasn't doing well. In fact, he had a hard time. All his dreams for the future were shattered. The baby was gone, and so was his future with Margaret.

Raymond picked up the wine glass on the table, drank the last of the wine, and then put the glass down. "I'm heading back. You should go back early too."

"You've been drinking. I'll take you back." Sarah instinctively tried to support him.

But he avoided her touch without a trace, dodging her support. "You've been drinking too. I texted Alvin; he'll be here soon to pick me up."

"Raymond, we're still friends, aren't we? Don't you trust me? Do you think I'll do something to you if I take you back?" Sarah said. Why was Raymond so wary of her?

As if his thoughts had been guessed, he looked away and said, "You're overthinking. I'm a married man now. Being with you isn't good for your reputation."

"I don't care."

"But I do."

"Are you afraid Margaret will misunderstand? She's Marlon's daughter," Sarah said, shocked, her fingers digging into her palm.

Sarah thought to herself, 'Margaret had a miscarriage, and he still cared so much about her?'

Raymond's face darkened. "As long as she hasn't divorced me, she's still my wife. Show some respect to Margaret." Then he took his car keys and staggered out of the bar.

Sarah soon saw Raymond being picked up by Alvin. How ridiculous. He even hit Marlon, and now he wanted her to respect Margaret?

Sarah forcibly suppressed her anger and jealousy. It didn't matter. As long as Marlon died, Margaret would inevitably break with Raymond!

She knew Margaret's personality too well. Once Marlon was no longer a weakness, all the conflicts between Margaret and Raymond would erupt. By then, even if Raymond wanted to continue the marriage, Margaret wouldn't agree. She just needed to wait for Marlon to die from Raymond cutting off his medication!

In the black Bentley.

Raymond sat in the back seat, his head a bit dizzy from drinking. But his gaze was still cold.

"Mrs. Howard, isn't that Mrs. Howard?" Alvin exclaimed. Raymond followed the direction and looked out the car window.

Margaret and Daniel were walking side by side on the street. Daniel seemed to be saying something to her, and she was listening intently.

Raymond felt a wave of irritation. No wonder she didn't care about the kid. She hadn't even broken up with Daniel. Raymond closed the car window, his face growing even more grim.

At the apartment.

Alvin helped him upstairs, and he dismissed Alvin. Then Raymond changed the apartment door code and erased all of Margaret's fingerprints. A woman like Margaret didn't deserve to come to his home anymore!

After changing the code, Raymond, his face flushed and reeking of alcohol, staggered upstairs.

The parrot saw Raymond return, its eyes lit up, and it jumped around in the cage, shouting, "Margaret used to like Raymond! Now she doesn't like Raymond anymore!"

"Margaret won't have a baby for Raymond!" The parrot's voice and tone were just like Margaret's.

Anger surged in Raymond's heart. He grabbed a water glass and smashed it on the ground. "Shut up!"

"Raymond is a jerk!"

"Raymond has no conscience!"

"Raymond is shameless!" The parrot seemed to be stimulated, flapping its wings and shouting.

Raymond's face grew darker. Did Margaret teach the parrot to say all these things? Not a single good word. Even the parrot knew Margaret wouldn't have his baby and didn't love him anymore.

Margaret had changed. He was the only fool who believed her lies. Raymond swept everything off the coffee table. "Shut up! I told you to shut up!" Everything fell to the ground. The sharp noise made Raymond laugh bitterly.

Perhaps his aura scared the parrot. The parrot instantly fell silent, even changing its tune softly. "Margaret likes Raymond."

Even the parrot could read his mood. Why couldn't she? He had warned her so many times, tolerated her so many times. She still didn't care about his feelings at all! Raymond slumped on the sofa, smoking one cigarette after another.

Margaret didn't return to the apartment. She was deliberately avoiding Raymond. They had reached this point. If she went to the apartment, they would only argue more fiercely. Besides, she had just seen him drinking with Sarah. Predictably, he wouldn't come back, or he would bring Sarah back. She didn't want to join that mess.

Daniel walked Margaret back to Hughes Manor. At the entrance, Margaret gratefully said to him, "Mr. Taylor, thank you for walking me back. I'm here now, you can go back."

"Ms. Hughes, have you thought about what I asked you to consider?" Daniel suddenly asked.

Margaret thought he was talking about changing jobs and declined, "Mr. Taylor, I don't want to work for now. Thank you for your offer."

"I was asking about the liver transplant. I'm looking for a suitable liver for you, and there will be news soon. If the match is successful, you can live. Ms. Hughes, life is precious, don't give up," Daniel said gently.

For so long, Daniel was the first person to tell her not to give up and to live well. They were just strangers who had met a few times, and Margaret's feelings suddenly became very complicated, a mix of gratitude and irony.

Snow suddenly began to fall from the sky. Margaret extended her palm, and the snowflakes landed on it, quickly disappearing. She murmured, "This winter is unprecedentedly long."

"Ms. Hughes, hang in there a little longer. Winter is almost over, and spring is coming soon," Daniel said, with a double meaning. Spring didn't just refer to the season, and winter didn't either.

Margaret understood his comfort. Her throat tightened, and she said in a daze, "I might not make it to spring."
