Chapter 528 How to Deal with It is All Up to You.

His kiss was gentle and fleeting.

The mask of the ventilator fogged up with a thin layer of mist.

Margaret was still fuming about what had happened earlier. She pushed him away, clenched her fist, and punched his chest, covered by the hospital gown. "Are you out of your mind?"

The pain made him gasp.

Cold sweat dripped from his forehead.

"How are you feeling? I'll call the doctor." Margaret anxiously pressed the call button.

No one responded to the call button, so she hurried out of the room.

Raymond's eyes crinkled with a smile as he enjoyed the wonderful care provided by Margaret.

Rufus was quickly found and brought in. Seeing Raymond awake, he respectfully nodded, "Mr. Howard, you're finally awake."

"How's my condition?" Raymond asked weakly.

"You need to rest for a while. During this time, you must stay calm, take your medication, and cooperate with the treatment," Rufus replied.

Rufus wrote a prescription, and soon a nurse brought the medication to the room.

A pile of pills.

Margaret felt overwhelmed just looking at them.

Rufus wisely left.

The nurse was about to leave too, but Margaret stopped her. "Don't go. You need to help him take his medication."

"What?" The nurse was shocked.

She didn't know whether to stay or leave.

Raymond's face darkened instantly.

Margaret glanced at him. "You're awake, so I'm leaving. The Hughes Group has a lot of work waiting for me."

"Leave," Raymond said to the nurse.

The nurse sighed in relief and quickly left the room, closing the door behind her.

"Who's gonna help you take your medication now?" Margaret frowned.

Raymond squinted, giving a bitter smile. "Margaret, you used to hate it when other women got too close to me. Now you're so generous? You don't even get jealous when she helps me with my medication?"

"Raymond, we're divorced. Why would I be jealous?" Margaret laughed coldly.

Raymond looked at her for a long time. "If I had known you'd react like this when I woke up, I would have preferred to stay unconscious forever."

"What did you say?"

His voice was so soft she couldn't hear what he was mumbling.

He looked up, his eyes red with pleading. "Margaret, I want you to stay and take care of me. You can have Alvin bring your work here, and I can be with you while you do it."

"No way." She was still angry.

Raymond said, "Did you forget what Rufus just said? I can't get upset. And I can't have anyone else take care of me because you'll get jealous."

"I won't get jealous."

"You will. I don't want you to be jealous. Margaret, I want to give you enough security." Raymond shook his head and spoke seriously, his eyes red. "Margaret, can you get me a glass of water? I need to take my medication."

Margaret remained unmoved.

"I'm a patient. Can you not argue with me for now? When I'm better, you can settle the score. Then, whatever you want to do, it's up to you. Margaret, have pity on me..."

Raymond really knew how to play the pity card.

His innocent look made Margaret both angry and amused.

She impatiently picked up a cup and went to get some water.

She handed it to him.

"Margaret, can you help me take my medication? Margaret, you're the best."

Margaret grabbed the bag with the medication boxes, opened it, and followed the instructions. She opened each box, took out the blister packs, and popped out the appropriate amount of pills.

Then she shoved the various colored pills into his palm, annoyed.

"Take your medication!"

"I'll do whatever you say." Raymond put the pills in his mouth, took a sip of water, and swallowed.

His mouth tasted bitter. He drank several sips of warm water before the bitterness gradually faded.

He kept his eyes fixed on Margaret, not looking away for a moment.

Margaret glared at him, annoyed. "What are you staring at?"

"You're beautiful, Margaret. I can't help but want to look at you more."

"Keep staring, and I'll gouge your eyes out!" she threatened fiercely.

But he still smiled. "Even if you gouge them out, I'll keep looking. As long as I have breath, I'll keep looking."

"Shut up!" Margaret couldn't stand him. Whenever he spoke sweetly, she had no defense.

Raymond pitifully shut his mouth but continued to look at her.

She turned and left the room.

She picked up her phone and called Alvin.

Alvin didn't know about the car accident. "Mr. Howard—"

"Bring the work I need to handle to the hospital."

"Ms. Hughes is hospitalized?"

The call was abruptly ended.

Half an hour later.

Alvin brought a stack of documents to the hospital room.

When Alvin saw Raymond in a hospital gown, hooked up to machines, shock was evident in his eyes. "Mr. Howard, what happened—"

"It's nothing. I used some special tactics to win Margaret back." Raymond casually lifted his eyelids and looked at Alvin.

Alvin was stunned for a moment, then asked, "Did it work?"

"Almost. The women I set my sights on, how many can escape?"

Alvin muttered, "If anyone's shameless, it's you."

"What did you say?" Raymond didn't hear his mumbling.

He smiled and gave Raymond a thumbs up. "I said Mr. Howard is amazing."

"Go register a company."

"Mr. Howard, you want to start a business?"

"She relied on Daniel to barely hold her ground at The Hughes Group. Daniel is an outsider. My woman doesn't need outsiders to protect her."

The door to the hospital room opened.

Raymond and Alvin both looked over.

Margaret walked in, expressionless, carrying a food container.

"Ms. Hughes, long time no see—"

Margaret didn't respond.

"You can leave now." Raymond didn't want Alvin to interrupt their time together.

Alvin left the room, feeling emotional. Margaret and Raymond had come a long way. He hoped this time they could stay together forever.

True love always found a way.

Margaret opened the food container, placed a spoon in the bowl of porridge, and handed it to him, her tone harsh. "Eat!"

If it were before, her cold attitude would have made him angry.

But now, he felt that as long as he could be with her, even being scolded was worth it.

He drank the porridge.

She asked, "Where did these documents come from?"

"All the work you need to handle has been brought here." Raymond drank the porridge, feeling smug. "It's all my doing. No need to thank me."

Margaret turned to him, her anger turning into a laugh. "Who told you to bring them here?"

"You need to take care of me, so you can only work here." Afraid she'd get angry, he added, "Margaret, the porridge you bought is delicious. Buy it for me again tomorrow."

"Shut up!" Margaret hugged the documents and sat in the small sofa area.

She seriously picked up a folder and started reading.

Raymond watched her, becoming entranced. It was his first time seeing her work.

She must have been exhausted these past few days. After reading for a while, she fell asleep on the sofa.

Raymond pressed the call button, and Rufus quickly came to the room, thinking Raymond was unwell. Seeing him fine, Rufus sighed in relief.

"Get a small blanket for Margaret. Bring all the documents from the sofa to me."
