Chapter 196 Margaret Was Dead

Raymond was already in a bad mood, and hearing Alvin speak made him even angrier. Raymond said, "Shut up!"

Alvin mustered the courage to speak his mind, saying, "Mr. Howard, I know it's hard for you that Mrs. Howard is gone, but she is already dead. You should let her go with some dignity. Send her to the crematorium and tidy her up a bit. Mrs. Howard liked to look pretty when she was alive; she wouldn't want to look a mess now."

Margaret had been kind to him, as she had introduced him to his wife. He didn't want Margaret to die either. She was so kind, yet this was her fate. Alvin felt increasingly depressed.

Raymond stood up from the ground, put Margaret down, walked over to Alvin, and grabbed his collar, gritting his teeth as he said, "Who told you she's dead? She can't be dead!"

"Mr. Howard." Alvin didn't expect Raymond to be this obsessive. He must love Margaret too much to accept the news.

Raymond let go of Alvin's collar, rubbed his forehead, and tried to think of a way to bring Margaret back to life. Because when he was a child, he had seen someone who had died, lay there for a few days, and then miraculously came back to life. If others could do it, why couldn't Margaret?

He thought Margaret probably didn't want to hear him talk right now; otherwise, all he had said earlier wouldn't have been useless.

He thought of another way. There were only two people Margaret cared about: one was Marlon, and the other was Nancy. He used to be someone Margaret cared about too, but now she probably cared about Daniel.

Raymond wouldn't let Daniel talk to her because he would be jealous. Marlon was now lying in a hospital bed, still unconscious, unable to help at all. So that left Nancy. Thinking of this, Raymond forced himself to calm down and left the operating room.

Hubert had just finished a phone call and returned. Seeing Raymond's cold expression, he said with concern, "Mr. Howard, should we contact the crematorium to pick up Mrs. Howard?"

Raymond glared at him and said with a cold smile, "If you like the crematorium so much, why don't you go yourself?"

Hubert was speechless but still tried to explain, "Mr. Howard, I know it's hard for you to accept Mrs. Howard's death. But the dead can't come back to life. Keeping her in the hospital won't help. If the body stays too long, it will develop spots, start to smell, and decay."

Raymond said coldly, "Keep using the medication to keep her alive."

"But..." Hubert didn't expect him to be so persistent. With that injection, she couldn't possibly wake up.

Raymond squinted his eyes and said in the coldest tone, "If she's completely dead before I get back, you can wait to be buried with her."

Hubert thought it was easy to handle; just kept her barely alive until Raymond returned. After all, Margaret couldn't come back to life.

Hubert said submissively, "Mr. Howard, I'll do my best."

Raymond glanced at Alvin and said, "You stay here and watch them administer the medication."

Alvin replied, "Yes, Mr. Howard."

Leaving the hospital, Raymond drove to the hospital where Marlon was staying. As he approached the room, he heard sobbing.

Nancy cursed, "That Raymond is a jerk! He has no conscience! Treating the Hughes Family like this. Why isn't Margaret answering her phone?"

Raymond, in his black leather shoes, walked in. He saw Nancy in a dress, still looking elegant, sitting on a chair, crying over Marlon on the bed.

Marlon still showed no signs of waking up. All the instruments and IVs that should have been on him were gone. He lay there like a dead man.

Nancy was calling Margaret, but no one was answering. She wanted to ask Margaret if she had contacted Raymond and when Marlon could resume his medication. If they kept this up, Marlon would die.

But Margaret wasn't answering, and Nancy was getting angrier and more anxious. "Margaret, why are you suddenly acting like a child? Why aren't you answering the phone? Did you contact that jerk Raymond or not?" Nancy cried in frustration.

Little did she know, Raymond was already silently standing behind her, looking at her expressionlessly and saying, "Are you looking for me?"

His cold voice startled Nancy, making her shiver. She turned around slowly and saw him in a black suit, glasses perched on his nose, hands in his coat pockets, looking at her with a cold, unsmiling demeanor.

"Raymond, that's enough! Can you resume Marlon's medication now?" Nancy glared at him angrily.

Raymond didn't have time to talk to her. He grabbed her wrist and started dragging her out as he said, "You're coming with me."

"Let go of me! Raymond, I'm your elder, watch your tone! I'm not going anywhere! Marlon is here, I need to stay with him!" Nancy pushed Raymond away, frowning.

Raymond glared at her, saying, "All you care about is Marlon. Margaret's your daughter. Have you ever truly cared about her? You only contact her when Marlon's medication is cut off, right?"

Nancy was speechless. She really didn't have the energy to care about Margaret.

Raymond said with a sneer, "Margaret's life is in danger now. If you want to come with me, great. If not, forget it. But I warn you, if Margaret dies, you and Marlon will die too!"

Raymond turned and walked out of the room. Hearing that Margaret was in trouble, Nancy hurried after him. On the way, Nancy asked Raymond what had happened, but he kept a stern face and refused to answer.

At the hospital, in the operating room.

Nancy saw Margaret on the operating table, tubes inserted into her. She was both angry and shocked. She slapped Raymond and said, "You're such a jerk! What did you do to Margaret? I haven't seen her in just a few days! She was fine, how did she end up like this? Do you have to drive her to death and ruin the Hughes Family to be satisfied?"

Seeing the slap coming, Raymond, who had been Margaret's bodyguard and was very agile, calmly caught Nancy's wrist. He said in the coldest tone, "I didn't bring you here to say this nonsense!"

"Nonsense? Raymond, the Hughes Family is really unlucky! What did Margaret do to the Howard Family to deserve this? I couldn't bear to hit or scold Margaret, and you tortured her like this? Don't you feel any shame? Do you think you did nothing wrong? You're a cold-blooded monster!" Nancy's face turned pale as she struggled to free her wrist, trying to hit Raymond again.
