Chapter 262 You're Crazy, And You're Dragging Me Along with You!

Raymond used his hand to block, and the cane instantly struck his palm.

Raymond felt intense pain in his palm, then numbness, and finally, he couldn't feel anything, not even a bit of pain.

But Marlon's anger was hard to quell. He thought about how this beast Raymond had promised to treat Margaret well, yet he had driven her to the point of writing a will.

And he gave an ultimatum: only one of them, Marlon or Margaret, could live.

Raymond, this hypocritical bastard. If it weren't for Marlon's appreciation, his financial support for Raymond's education, his promotion, and allowing him to marry Margaret.

If it weren't for Margaret's insistence on marrying him; if it weren't for Margaret being blinded by love.

How could Raymond, this bastard, have what he had today!

Marlon thought about what Sarah had said—they had even taken wedding photos!

Margaret and Raymond weren't even divorced yet; Marlon wasn't dead yet, and Raymond dared to be so high-profile with Sarah.

Did he think the Hughes Family had no one left? How dare he treat Margaret like this!

Marlon was so angry that his teeth itched, and he gritted his teeth, raising his cane and striking Raymond's body with all his might.

This time, Raymond was prepared. He grabbed Marlon's cane, his face dark and filled with hatred, his eyes bloodshot as he growled, "Marlon, you bastard, you're already like this, and you still dare to make a move?"

Hearing Raymond call him a bastard, Marlon was so angry that he made incoherent noises, trying to pull the cane out to continue hitting him.

Raymond wouldn't let him hit him. Anger made Raymond grip the cane tightly, pushing Marlon back repeatedly, "Let me tell you, Marlon. The only reason you're still alive is because Margaret has been suffering for you. Without her, you would have died. Be sensible and stop causing trouble."

"Today is New Year's Eve, I won't let you mess around." Raymond thought of Margaret, thought of today being a good day, and forced all the intense hatred in his eyes to retreat.

Raymond snatched the cane from Marlon and shoved it back into his hand, "You still owe my parents two lives, Marlon. Do you think marrying Margaret to me and doing so many good deeds can make up for two lives?"

Marlon's body trembled violently, his cloudy eyes wide open.

Indeed, he once naively thought that by doing more good deeds and becoming a philanthropist reported by the media, he would be free of guilt.

That wasn't the case; what was meant to come, would come—this was fate. The punishment he thought he could escape eventually returned, but he didn't expect the punishment to fall on his beloved Margaret.

"Dream on! You'll never be able to live peacefully as if nothing happened. Even if I don't come after you for revenge, you'll owe the Howard Family for the rest of your life." Raymond stared at Marlon.

He hated Marlon, even though he couldn't speak now, had difficulty walking, and was a cripple.

Because Marlon had killed his parents, shattering his once peaceful life.

No one wanted to live in hatred and be soaked in pain for a lifetime.

And Raymond had become a madman, a psychopath, all thanks to Marlon.

If he could, he would want Marlon to pay with his life, but had fallen in love with Margaret, who was carrying his child. So he didn't plan to seek revenge anymore.

If possible, Raymond wanted to live an ordinary life, to have a happy family life.

However, even if he didn't hold a grudge anymore, Marlon still owed him.

Raymond's gaze at Marlon was as sharp as a blade, having killed Marlon many times over in his mind.

He planned to take Margaret back to the apartment after New Year's, and once the child was born, they would live separately from Marlon.

Raymond would find the best maid to take care of Marlon.

He would try to see Marlon as little as possible in the future.

Once the child was born, the hatred would fade.

He should be able to completely let go of the hatred.

Margaret's heart would naturally return to the family from Daniel.

This was Raymond's compromise after much consideration.

His willingness to come to this meal meant he could let go of everything.

Raymond patted the back of Marlon's hand holding the cane, saying meaningfully, "Take care of yourself, Dad."

It was the first time he called Marlon Dad since taking over the Hughes Group.

"If you want to rest here, then stay here. Call me if you need anything." Raymond said coldly, then turned to leave.

But Marlon didn't understand his intentions.

From Marlon's perspective, Raymond had already fallen out with him, and he would owe the Howard Family for the rest of his life.

So, did that mean only a life for a life could appease Raymond? Only then could Margaret have a chance at a good life?

Marlon gripped the cane tightly, hobbling behind Raymond and using it to block Raymond's path, surrounding him with the cane and dragging him backward toward the balcony.

"Marlon, what are you doing?" Raymond couldn't bear it anymore, being completely pinned against the balcony.

Marlon's body was half hanging outside the balcony, and the cane kept moving upward.

Finally, the cane was tightly wedged against Raymond's neck.

Raymond then realized that while he didn't want Marlon's life, Marlon wanted to take his life on New Year's Eve.

"Are you crazy! Let go!" Raymond kept hitting Marlon's body with his elbow.

Maybe because Marlon was a dying man, his strength was surprisingly great.

Marlon, like a madman, suddenly laughed maniacally, so that tears streamed down his wrinkled face.

After dominating the business world for half his life, he would end up being a burden to Margaret, ending up like this. He couldn't voice his grievances.

Marlon's hysterical laughter sounded like a demonic chant in Raymond's ears.

Raymond wanted to call for help, but the entire villa was empty and cold. Only then did he realize why he felt uneasy and that something big was going to happen when he entered the villa.

"I said let go!" Raymond finally broke free.

But Marlon fell backward, instantly dropping from the balcony.

Raymond panicked, quickly grabbing Marlon's wrist, gritting his teeth, and shouting, "You lunatic, you're crazy and want to drag me down with you! Hold on, I'll pull you up!"
