Chapter 320 Raymond Panicked
Alvin wasn't surprised at all by Raymond's decision.
Perhaps to outsiders, Raymond seemed ruthless and hateful towards Margaret.
But as an observer, Alvin saw things clearly. He knew that Raymond had always cared deeply for Margaret, even more so than for Sarah.
They just lacked communication, and the opportunity to clear things up.
Margaret was rescued onto the lifeboat by professional lifeguards, and Raymond was also rescued.
The lifeboat quickly reached the shore.
Raymond's hands were swollen from the water, but he still insisted on holding the unconscious Margaret as they got ashore.
A row of black SUVs was parked on the shore.
Alvin quickly stepped forward, opened the car door, and Raymond placed Margaret in the back seat before getting in himself.
After closing the door, Alvin returned to the driver's seat and started the car.
"To the nearest hospital," Raymond said, frowning as he looked at the pale-faced Margaret in his arms.
His hand covered Margaret's visibly pregnant belly.
After being in the water for so long and being kidnapped, who knew how the baby in Margaret's belly was doing?
Alvin followed the GPS to the nearest hospital.
Through the rearview mirror, Alvin saw the wound on Raymond's hand and said worriedly, "Mr. Howard, you need to get that bandaged too."
Raymond didn't think much of it. As a man, a minor injury was nothing. He was more concerned about the baby in Margaret's belly!
"By the way, Mr. Howard, I've captured Evelyn, who kidnapped Mrs. Howard. I've had the bodyguards take her back to Silverbrook. We'll deal with her when you return."
"Her matter can wait. The baby in Margaret's belly is more important."
"Mrs. Howard is kind-hearted; there won't be any problems," Alvin said, not as flattery but as a genuine belief. In his eyes and heart, Margaret had always been kind.
She had introduced him to his wife. Without Margaret, he wouldn't have found the love of his life.
So if possible, he hoped Margaret could give birth smoothly and live a peaceful life.
Raymond held Margaret tightly, not daring to let go for a moment.
He had almost lost Margaret just now. He suddenly realized how important Margaret was to him.
Even if Margaret spoke coldly to him, even if she slapped him and cursed him, he still didn't want to let go.
In his life, he had only ever loved one woman—Margaret.
Raymond would never let go of Margaret.
Margaret had once loved him so much, never arguing with him.
He thought that once the baby was born, everything would get better.
Margaret was so soft-hearted. Even for the sake of the child, for the fact that he was the child's father, she would reconcile with him.
They would repair this broken marriage.
Raymond didn't know that he was just being wishful. From the moment Marlon jumped off the balcony, he and Margaret could never go back to the way they were.
They were destined never to be harmonious together.
Raymond was still lost in his dream of Margaret giving birth, and then taking Margaret and the baby to live by the sea.
He was too confident, overestimating Margaret's feelings for him.
Perhaps there had been feelings once, but now they were long gone, completely worn away.
Deep in thought, Raymond suddenly felt his hand become sticky and warm, and when he looked down, he was shocked to see Margaret, with her pale face leaning against his chest, as bright red blood continuously flowed from the corner of her mouth, trickling down from her lips and staining his large hand.
Raymond's eyes flashed with astonishment. He quickly used his watch-wearing hand to grab a tissue and wipe the blood from her mouth.
But no matter how much he wiped, he couldn't clean it up; in fact, the more he wiped, the more blood seemed to appear.
Margaret's body temperature in his arms was getting colder and colder.
Raymond thought of Marlon, who had fallen from the balcony and kept vomiting blood until Hubert arrived, and then Marlon died.
A trace of panic flashed through Raymond's eyes. He swallowed hard and said, "Are we at the hospital yet? Speed up!"
Alvin had been focused on driving.
Hearing Raymond's trembling voice, he glanced back and saw Margaret in Raymond's arms. Margaret had been unconscious, so why was she vomiting blood now?
Alvin was also a bit scared. His long fingers gripped the steering wheel even tighter.
He floored the gas pedal, speeding towards the hospital.
"Margaret, wake up!" Raymond patted her cheeks.
But Margaret seemed to be in a deep sleep.
If it weren't for the fact that she was vomiting blood, he would have thought she was already dead.
With her eyes closed, Margaret's curled eyelashes remained completely still, not fluttering at all.
Raymond was getting worried, a sense of panic rising in his heart. His throat tightened.
This wasn't the first time Margaret had vomited blood.
She had vomited blood several times in front of him.
But the pills she took, which he had tested, were just vitamin tablets.
So why would she vomit blood if she was taking vitamin tablets? And it wouldn't stop!
Raymond reached out and touched her forehead; it was so cold. There was still breath at her nose.
Margaret was alive, but the blood at the corner of her mouth wouldn't stop. The bright red blood stained his hand, and the sight of it made Raymond's heart race with fear.
"Mr. Howard, don't worry. Mrs. Howard will be fine. Should I call Mr. Diaz to come over?" Alvin suggested.
Raymond didn't distrust Hubert; he just thought it would be too late by the time Hubert arrived.
"No need. Don't notify him," Raymond stopped him.
Because Raymond suddenly remembered what Daniel had told him. "Raymond, Margaret is in the late stages of liver cancer. If you don't persuade her to get treatment and treat her well, you'll regret it."
'Could Margaret be as Daniel had said?' He thought.
Raymond now needed to find another hospital to re-examine Margaret's body!
He didn't dare take any more risks; he was afraid of losing Margaret.
At the hospital, Margaret was admitted by the local hospital. Raymond was quite familiar with the hospital's director.
With one phone call, Vice President Rufus Chapman personally came to perform surgery on Margaret.
Meanwhile, Raymond was getting his hand bandaged by a female nurse. Seeing the wound on his palm, the nurse said seriously, "You're lucky you came in time. Otherwise, your hand would have been useless. The wound is so deep, and you were in the water for so long."
Raymond's mind was full of thoughts about Margaret's condition and didn't pay attention to the nurse's words.
"If it hurts, just let me know, and I'll be gentler," The nurse said as she applied medicine with a cotton swab.
Raymond couldn't feel the pain.
After the bandaging was done, Rufus came to the hallway to find Raymond. Raymond asked, "Is the surgery done so quickly?"
It wasn't normal; only twenty minutes had passed.
"Mr. Howard, we've stopped the bleeding, but we need to wait for the test results to understand her condition."
"What's wrong with her?" Raymond's eyelid twitched, a sense of unease rising.
Rufus pursed his lips, "We need to wait for the test results. There might have been a misdiagnosis."
"How long will it take?" Raymond asked.
"Half an hour. I've already expedited it."
