Chapter 467 As Long As It Doesn't Kill, It's Fine

Raymond's hand, which was applying medicine, paused for a moment.

Through the hazy smoke, Raymond could clearly see Hubert's expression change slightly.

"Hubert, what do you think about all this?" Raymond brought the cigarette to his lips, took a deep drag, and smiled at him.

That smile made Hubert uneasy, his heart filled with anxiety.

"Mr. Howard, have you heard some rumors?"

"Rumors?"

"Mr. Howard, you and Mrs. Howard have been through a lot to get where you are today. It's been tough. Couples should trust each other. I was the one who revived Mrs. Howard; I know if she's genuine or not. On the other hand, Mr. Taylor is the one with ulterior motives, trying to stir things up." Hubert continued to bandage Raymond's wound, smiling as he spoke, "I remember before, Mrs. Howard and you were almost divorced because she got too close to Mr. Taylor and was deceived by him."

Raymond took the last drag of his cigarette, then extinguished it and tossed it into the trash can. "I trust you."

"Thank you, Mr. Howard. Without you, I wouldn't be where I am today." Hubert secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Raymond was as gullible as ever.

Hubert changed the subject, "Mr. Howard, you've been seriously injured. It's best to call the police."

"Daniel got beaten up pretty badly by me too." Raymond looked up, his face expressionless as he stared at Hubert. "Go downstairs and buy me a pack of cigarettes."

Hubert was taken aback, not expecting Raymond to make such a request.

"What? You can't do me this favor?"

"No, no, I'll go right away." Hubert quickly smiled apologetically, then put down the tweezers and gauze, placed them in a tray, and turned to leave the office.

Raymond watched his back, sneering coldly.

Alvin closed the door.

"Move quickly," Raymond ordered coldly.

Dressed in a black suit, Alvin walked to Hubert's desk, crouched down, and took out a tiny listening device, attaching it to the most inconspicuous spot on the desk.

Raymond also got up and walked over, opening the desk drawer and quickly searching through it.

The drawer contained only patient diagnosis records and everyday books, with no suspicious documents.

In just a few minutes, Raymond restored the drawer to its original state.

Alvin skillfully installed the device, adjusting it as he spoke, "Mr. Howard, check your phone."

Raymond pulled up the app, tapped into the device settings, and flipped on the cameras. Instant 360-degree office coverage—no blind spots.

He turned off his phone and put it in his pocket.

Alvin opened the office door, standing beside Raymond.

Raymond remained expressionless, his face cold and stern as he sat on the leather sofa, legs crossed. Despite the cut on his lip, it didn't detract from his handsome features.

Hubert soon returned, handing the pack of cigarettes to Raymond with both hands. "Mr. Howard, your cigarettes."

"Keep up the good work, and you'll have a bright future." Raymond tore open the pack, shook out a cigarette, and bit it between his lips. As he spoke, he patted Hubert's shoulder trustingly.

Hubert had no doubts about him, still immersed in the dream of using Sarah to take over Raymond's assets.

"Thank you, Mr. Howard."

"No need to be polite. We're all on the same team." Raymond looked at him appreciatively, then turned to leave the office.

Alvin followed closely behind Raymond.

As Raymond turned, his expression hardened, becoming fierce and cold.

Entering the hospital, Raymond tossed the pack of cigarettes Hubert had bought into the trash can. He also removed the cigarette from his lips and snapped it in half.

The car sped down the asphalt road.

The road was wet, snow continuously falling on the car's windshield, the wipers intermittently clearing the snow.

Raymond coldly watched the neon lights and pedestrians outside the window.

The car window was partially lowered.

The cold wind blew against his face, but he didn't feel the chill.

"Mr. Howard, the test results from Rufus are in," Alvin said uneasily, gripping the steering wheel.

Raymond finally looked at him. "Go on."

"Your intuition was spot on. Mrs. Howard definitely has issues."

"Keep talking."

"The watch you gave me contained a large amount of sedatives."

"Sedatives?"

"Yeah, these sedatives are colorless and odorless, making them hard to detect. Prolonged use can cause neurological disorders, mental instability, and eventually dependency."

"And the vitamin pills?" Raymond rested his elbow on the car window, stroking his chin.

Alvin replied, "They're not vitamins at all. They're lethal poison. Rufus said that taking a large dose at once can cause shock and death, which is easily noticeable. But if taken in small amounts daily, it can lead to death from overwork."

Raymond's eyes turned cold as winter frost as he listened.

The voice of the imposter echoed in his ears.

"Raymond, you're having nosebleeds. These are the vitamins I got for you. You need to take care of yourself so we can take wedding photos, get married, and be together forever. Raymond, I love you, so much."

The person was fake, using the guise of love to scheme.

Raymond felt a chill in his heart.

"Mr. Howard, if the Mrs. Howard by your side is fake, then Hubert is indeed suspicious. I remember she said Hubert saved her when she returned. Who else could be behind her besides Hubert?" Alvin thought deeply, "What is their goal?"

Raymond didn't respond.

"Mr. Howard, I just remembered something."

Raymond's silence was a tacit agreement.

He continued, "When Mrs. Howard's cancer report was falsified, could it have been Hubert's doing? We were all deceived. Now that we've determined Hubert and the imposter are problematic, it's possible you wrongly accused Mrs. Howard."

When Alvin mentioned this, Raymond felt extremely suppressed. He didn't dare to think that if he had indeed wronged Margaret, he wouldn't have the courage to face her.

Raymond stared at the snow outside the car window.

His phone suddenly rang, and he answered.

"Raymond, are you hurt? Is it serious?" The voice was identical to Margaret's, but hearing it made Raymond want to vomit.

Raymond held the phone, responding with a question, "How do you know I'm hurt?"

"Hubert told me... Can't I know?" Sarah said, sounding aggrieved.

Raymond's eyes were cold, but his voice was unusually gentle, "No."

"Can I come see you? I'm really worried about you."

"Sure."

After hanging up, Raymond glanced at Alvin, who was driving. "Any progress on what I asked you to do?"

"I haven't found the right opportunity yet, but since she's giving us one, we can't be blamed." Alvin knew Raymond was referring to punishing the imposter. He picked up his phone to send a message, then looked uneasily at Raymond through the rearview mirror.

Alvin asked, "Mr. Howard, as long as we don't kill her, anything goes?"
