Chapter 103 Can't Afford to Provoke
James got into the car, and as soon as he did, Jacob stepped on the accelerator and drove off. Five white Hummers also roared and followed them.
They headed straight for TranquilTea Haven with a clear objective.
At this hour, it was the peak of rush hour in Rosewood City, with cars and pedestrians everywhere, but Jacob didn't even slow down as he floored the Hummer's gas pedal.
Yellow lights indicating wait, red lights indicating stop, these traffic rules meant nothing to Jacob now. He and James had a big task ahead of them: how could they care about such rules?
The car sped forward with unstoppable momentum. If not for the lack of police pursuit, bystanders might have thought it was a getaway car.
As they neared TranquilTea Haven, the Hummer suddenly accelerated, shooting forward like lightning, sending a few leaves swirling in its wake.
Passersby stared in astonishment at the scene, forgetting to scream in surprise. They were greatly shocked by the reckless driving of these vehicles.
TranquilTea Haven, the best place in Rosewood City to enjoy tea and pastries, was bustling with customers. Charming hostesses were greeting the arriving guests.
Professional smiles, sweet greetings, and the aroma of food allowed the customers coming in and out of the teahouse to enjoy themselves as usual.
But this morning was destined to be anything but peaceful.
Just as the hostess slightly bowed to send off a group of customers, six Hummers charged toward the place like mad bulls.
The hostess's face turned pale, and she instinctively stepped back to dodge.
The Hummers screeched to a halt arrogantly at the steps, the smell of rubber filling the air. Jacob stayed in the car while the others got out, putting on masks as they did.
At the same time, Troy and Brian appear from opposite sides, silently joining the group.
"Let's go!"
James leaped out of the car window, leading Troy and the others straight to the third floor. He had received word that Harry had rented out the third floor to have tea with his companions.
The Watson brothers and Secure Horizon Services might be in trouble, but that didn't mean James would let Harry, the instigator, off the hook.
At the stairway, three of Harry's bodyguards saw James, and their faces changed dramatically. "What do you want?"
James didn't answer. He stepped forward and kicked the middle bodyguard, sending him flying.
Troy and the others grabbed the other two, smashing them against the stair railing.
Blood spurted from the impact, and the two bodyguards collapsed limply.
The usually bustling tea house fell silent as a grave.
The patrons were not only shocked by James and his crew's ruthlessness but also by their audacity to act so brazenly in a place partly owned by the Watson brothers.
Without even glancing at the crowd, James pulled two guns from the bodyguards, unlocked the safeties, and exuded a murderous aura. The metallic clicks made the hostesses drop to the ground.
A few security guards who rushed over also dropped their batons and fled out the tea house door.
James expertly handled the guns before tossing them into a flower pot.
Brian silently picked them up, mimicking James by unlocking the safeties.
"Let's go." James clapped his hands and headed upstairs.
James led Troy and the others to the third floor and kicked open a screen.
The view cleared, revealing Harry and over a dozen others, men and women, with mocking smiles still on their faces. "That idiot, James, foolishly stabbing someone in a karaoke bar. He'll probably rot in prison."
Harry stopped talking and looked at the intruding James. The lively third floor fell silent.
"Harry." James's lips curled into a sneer, both disdainful and mocking. "Long time no see!" Not a sound could be heard!
The third floor was crowded. Besides Harry, there were over a dozen well-dressed men and women, including Jennifer and Donna.
The once lively crowd was frozen, and Jennifer had even forgotten to sip her coffee.
They were all shocked to see James, not only because he had come out of the police station unscathed but also because he dared to crash their gathering and confront Harry.
As James walked towards Harry with his hands behind his back, a young man with an earring stood up confidently and shouted, "Asshole, do you think you belong here? Get out!"
Before James could respond, Troy rushed forward and stabbed the young man in the abdomen.
After a brief pause, as the others began to react, Troy twisted the knife, causing a gush of blood to spurt from the young man's abdomen.
Ruthless and bloody.
The young man let out a short scream, his abdomen shredded, his face ashen.
As the knife was pulled out, his body collapsed to the ground.
The women present instinctively screamed.
Five or six young men grabbed chairs defensively.
No one had expected James to come in ready to risk it all.
Jennifer and Donna instinctively moved closer to Harry, seeking safety.
"James, you've got some nerve," Harry said, raising his hand to halt his companions from advancing. "More than I anticipated, to be honest. But you're reckless. Escaping from prison is a grave offense, and stabbing someone? That's a one-way ticket to a lengthy sentence. If they catch you, you're looking at a decade, at least."
He tossed his phone to Jennifer to call the police. "Tell the cops there's an assault happening here."
As he spoke, Harry picked up a cup of hot tea, looked at James with interest, sneered, and sipped his tea slowly, arrogant and smug.
Encouraged by his arrogance, his companions shook off the fear from Troy's stabbing, their eyes turning vicious, ready to fight at any moment.
"Cut the crap. Jesse said you instigated him to go after Mary." James didn't bother with pleasantries. "Just answer me. Is it true?"
"Yes, it's true," Harry admitted without hesitation. "At Apollo Restaurant, you slapped me, and I wasn't happy. I wanted revenge."
James spoke calmly, "Then come after me. Why go after a woman?"
"Torturing you alone is no fun," Harry said honestly. "But ripping Mary's clothes right in front of you, now that would be intriguing and gratifying, and it's just the beginning."
James nodded slightly. "That's all I needed to hear."
"What? Are you upset? Do you want to compete with me? Harry laughed ambiguously. "James, aren't you overestimating yourself? Let me tell you, the police will be here soon, and my men will arrive in droves. You've escaped from jail and stabbed someone; better think about how you're going to deal with the police first."
He looked down at James with the air of a cat toying with a mouse, prompting Jennifer to silently remark that this was the true demeanor of a wealthy heir.
"Don't worry. Before the cops take me away, you'll be the one in trouble, Harry." James walked over with Brian. "You messed with my woman, and I won't let you off."
"You talk a big game," Harry chuckled ambiguously. "but I can tell you, Bryan and the police are enough to be your big trouble. And me, along with the Jones family, are entities you can't afford to provoke."
He looked arrogantly confident, pulling out a cigar and casually lighting it, his gaze full of contempt as he looked at James.
Without Raymond to hold him back, he could crush a hundred guys like James.
After all, he was a martial artist, not someone an ordinary person could contend with.
Several beautiful women also looked at James with disdain, thinking he was courting death by challenging Harry.
James's figure blurred, and in an instant, he was in front of Harry, slapping him across the face.
A crisp, loud sound.
"Entities I can't afford to provoke?" James retorted, slapping him again. "I've provoked you. What are you going to do about it?"
