Chapter 60 You Were Sick

Ella recognized Samuel instantly, her pretty face twisting into a sneer.

Ella said, "He's one of my suitors. He used to be wealthy, but he's bankrupt now."

She spoke with disdain. "Now he's just a taxi driver, trying to make ends meet."

Ella had once thought she'd snagged a wealthy partner in Samuel, hoping to milk millions from him, but ended up with only a few hundred thousand. The stark contrast between her expectations and reality made her feel like she had wasted her youth, and she harbored a deep resentment towards Samuel, delighting in his downfall.

"My God, he was your suitor."

A group of women gasped in mock horror. "Such a loser dared to pursue you!"

Samuel's eyelids twitched, but he clenched his teeth and held back his anger. "James, let's go inside."

James nodded.

Ella, not one to let Samuel off the hook, strolled over with her entourage in tow. "Samuel, you've fallen so far that you're now driving a taxi, yet you dare to dine in such a place!" She taunted, her voice dripping with condescension. "Can you even afford a meal here? Ten days of your taxi fares might not cover a single course. Don't add insult to injury by getting yourself kicked out. Leave, this place isn't for you."

The women giggled behind their hands, scrutinizing Samuel with disdain.

Samuel couldn't hold back any longer. "Ella, don't push it. You wronged me, and I've been silent. If you push me further, and I..."

"What?" Ella scoffed coldly. "You can't even handle a few harsh words. What kind of man are you?"

James patted Samuel on the shoulder. "Let's go. Ignore them, and let's eat."

"Dining? You must be joking. Are you sure you're not here to do menial jobs?"

Ella looked at them with contempt.

Ella added. "Besides, this is the WH Group Restaurant, members only. Can you even get in?"

Her companions shared a look of disdain.

"Stop pretending. It's disgusting." Ella pulled out a bronze membership card. "Ladies, let's go inside. I don't want to see these country bumpkins anymore. You two wait here. We'll send you our leftovers."

The women strolled off, laughing delicately. As Ella Martinez passed by James, she deliberately bumped him with her shoulder. "Don't block our path."

James blocked her shoulder and twisted the Life Gem in his hand.

"Bumpkins." Ella snorted and led her friends inside, then turned back, smirking.

Ella said, "You want to eat here, right? Try and see if you can get inside."

The four receptionists eyed Samuel warily, worried he and James might sneak in.

"Ella, you've gone too far," Samuel shouted angrily. "I've been a member here for five years."He pulled out a card and handed it to one of the receptionists.

The receptionist swiped it, and it beeped.

"Sir, I'm sorry, but your card has expired."

Samuel's face fell, then turned sour. He had forgotten that the membership required an annual fee of one hundred thousand dollars.

Hearing the receptionist, Ella and her friends laughed even harder.

"Your card has expired."

"Samuel can't even afford the card fee, yet he dares to dine here?"

"See, I told you, you can't even get through the door."

"You're bankrupt, yet you masquerade as a prosperous heir of a wealthy family. How vain."

Samuel clenched his fists slightly, feeling a mix of anger and desolation.

"James, I'm sorry. I wanted to treat you to a good meal, but..." Samuel said with a bitter smile. "Let's go somewhere else."

James just smiled. "Don't worry. We can get in."

The receptionists, though smiling, looked down on James as if he didn't belong.

James chuckled coldly and presented a VIP card.

The receptionists, initially impatient, were shocked when they saw the card as if struck by lightning.

A VIP card!

Equivalent to a visit from Olivia herself.

The card was swiped, and it beeped, displaying a phoenix emblem and James's name.

Authentic.

"Mr. Williams, good evening."

The four receptionists straightened up immediately and greeted James respectfully.

Then, the entire WH Group Restaurant stirred as Jonathan Moore, along with a dozen men and women, rushed out.

They scanned the room and quickly approached James, bowing deeply. "Welcome, Mr. Williams!"

Ella and her friends were stunned.

They had never expected James and Samuel to be allowed in, let alone be greeted by Jonathan, the manager of the WH Group branch and the head of the WH Group Restaurant.

Ella, as relentless as ever, sneered at James and Samuel. "You're here to apply for menial jobs, aren't you?"

Before Jonathan could scold her for her rudeness, James waved him off and smiled at Ella.

James said, "Miss Martinez, you're sick."

Ella was furious. "You're sick. Lunatic."

"Don't believe me? Let me tell you." James's lips curled in amusement. "Do you feel drowsy during the day, have trouble sleeping at night, have a bitter taste in your mouth, and often suffer from stomach pain?"

Ella was shocked. "How... how did you know?"

James replied, "I've studied some medicine. I can also tell that you often feel anxious, dizzy, and weak."

James spoke calmly, "These symptoms are dangerous for your health. If left untreated, they can lead to serious stomach issues, even stomach cancer."

Ella shouted, "You're talking nonsense."

Even though James hit the nail on the head, Ella refused to concede, her tone dripping with scorn. "What do you know about medicine? You're just a taxi driver. Stop bluffing."

Her friends, too, were skeptical, finding it hard to believe that James knew anything about medicine.

"If you don't believe me, try pressing the acupressure point below your navel." James's casual remark. "It will show you that you're really sick."

"Charlatan." Ella's face showed contempt, but she involuntarily pressed her abdomen.

With that press, a crisp sound followed by a sharp, embarrassing fart erupted.

Then, a series of sounds continued, the farts getting louder and more frequent, filling the hall with an unbearable stench.

James and Jonathan quickly covered their noses and moved away.

Her friends also retreated 10 feet.

Ella was mortified. "You bastard, I won't let this go."

"I wasn't tricking you. Your symptoms indicate poor stomach." James casually replied, "Now that it's been released, you'll sleep well tonight."

Then he patted Samuel on the shoulder. "Let's go, there's more to come."

Samuel laughed as they entered the restaurant.

The others quickly moved away...

Ella, seething with rage, grabbed her phone and wept. "Mr. Green, I've been bullied."
