Chapter 110 Gained Both Fame and Fortune
When Lydia was overjoyed, several luxury cars pulled up at the entrance. As the car doors opened, a dozen men and women stepped out one after another.
Leading the group was a well-proportioned middle-aged man with slicked-back hair and glasses, accompanied by a woman adorned with jewelry.
Both of them looked panic-stricken at the moment.
It was none other than Andrew and Mrs. Thompson, one of the six tycoons of Rosewood City.
The Miller family was involved in politics. Aaron was the underground king, Richard controlled the Mystic Alliance in Rosewood City. Ralph was in command of the Hundred Flowers Bank, and Raymond manipulated the antiques and mineral market.
As for Andrew, he held sway over the direction of the internet. Although the internet had its fair share of bubbles, he was still a genuine internet tycoon.
So, as soon as he and Mrs. Thompson appeared, countless people started snapping photos with their phones.
Katherine and her group went up to greet them. "Mr. Thompson!"
"Gabriella, Gabriella." Mrs. Thompson grabbed Katherine's hand and cried out, "Mrs. Gomez, how is my daughter?"
Gabriella was the apple of her eye and the key to maintaining her family. If anything happened to Gabriella, she wouldn't want to live.
Andrew also waved his hand decisively. "No matter what, you must save my daughter. I'm willing to pay any price."
"Mr. Thompson, Mrs. Thompson, please don't worry. We've thoroughly examined Miss Thompson's condition. Her injuries are indeed severe, but she's been stabilized," Katherine reassured the Thompsons. "She's not in any immediate danger. Once our expert team discuss it, we'll devise a surgical plan. Please rest assured."
Katherine spoke sincerely, "Miss Thompson will be fine."
"Really? Please don't lie to me" Mrs. Thompson wiped her tears, completely losing her usual grace. "I heard Gabriella's car was burned. Is she really okay?"
Someone had sent them photos of the car, with the front end collapsed and the vehicle reduced to a heap of rubble, only the license plate recognizable.
The severity of the photos had thrown the Thompsons into a panic. It seemed unlikely anyone could survive in such a crash and fire.
Andrew also managed to squeeze out a sentence. "Mrs. Gomez, please don't hide anything from us. Tell us the truth."
"Mr. Thompson, Mrs. Thompson, please be assured that Miss Thompson's condition has truly stabilized," Katherine began with a smile. "To be honest with you, the car crash was indeed severe, and Miss Thompson was hovering between life and death. She suffered a concussion, internal bleeding, and broken ribs. Under normal circumstances, it would have been nearly impossible for her to make it to the hospital. However, she was lucky today. An exceptional doctor from our hospital was in the ambulance and managed to stabilize Miss Thompson's condition. I can't explain it, but we just checked with the instruments, and Miss Thompson's vital signs are very stable. She is not in immediate danger."
She laid out the situation in its entirety. "Because her condition is stable, we didn't rush into surgery. We plan to consult and come up with the best surgical plan."
Hearing this, the Thompsons breathed a sigh of relief.
Katherine then led Andrew and Mrs. Thompson into the intensive care unit to see Gabriella's condition for themselves.
On the hospital bed, Gabriella looked peaceful, her breathing steady, her heartbeat weak but stable, and her wounds bandaged. She appeared to be out of danger.
"Gabriella." Seeing her daughter like this, Mrs. Thompson was heartbroken and wanted to rush over to touch her head, but Andrew pulled her back.
"She hasn't had surgery yet; don't move her." Though Andrew was also deeply pained, he maintained his composure and pulled his wife out of the room.
Outside, Andrew asked, "Which doctor saved my daughter's life?"
Before Katherine could respond, Lydia stepped forward, chest out, looking proud. "Mr. Thompson, saving lives and healing the injured is our duty as doctors. Any doctor in my position would have done their utmost to save Miss Thompson," she said confidently. "It's just a matter of lifting a hand. You don't need to worry about it."
The Thompsons stared at Lydia in a daze, clearly surprised that the expert was a young nurse. "Mr. Thompson, Mrs. Thompson, the person who saved Miss Thompson is Miss Moore," Katherine said with a gracious smile. "She is modest, unpretentious, and possesses a strong sense of duty. If there's someone you should be thanking, it's her."
"Miss Moore, thank you for saving my daughter." Andrew took out a check and handed it to Lydia. "This is one million dollars. You take it first. When my daughter wakes up, I'll give you another one hundred million dollars as a reward."
One million dollars?
Lydia was momentarily stunned, seeing so much money for the first time. She then grabbed it. "Mr. Thompson, you're too kind."
"Since Mr. Thompson is so generous, I'll accept it. Rest assured, Miss Thompson will be fine." She was overjoyed, never expecting that being a nurse could make her rich. Thinking about the one hundred million dollars, she felt a rush of heat all over her body.
Katherine frowned slightly but said nothing.
Mrs. Thompson anxiously asked, "Miss Moore, my daughter won't have any aftereffects, right?"
"Well..." Lydia frowned, not knowing how to answer for a moment, as she had no idea about Gabriella's specific condition.
However, she quickly responded, squinting her eyes. "It's hard to say. It depends on the final outcome of the surgery. I've done everything I can. What happens next is beyond my control."
With a few simple words, she shifted all the responsibility, implying that she had done her part and the rest was out of her hands.
Mrs. Thompson was still uneasy. "Miss Moore, my daughter won't be in any more danger, right?"
"Definitely not." Before Lydia could speak, Andrew interrupted his wife, displeased. "Miss Moore brought our daughter back from the brink of death. Now that she's stable, how could she still be in danger?"
Andrew scolded. "You're doubting Miss Moore's medical skills."
"Mrs. Thompson, don't worry." Katherine also smiled. "We'll have Miss Moore on standby. If anything goes wrong during the surgery, she'll step in immediately."
Lydia didn't expect she couldn't get away yet, so she could only nod with a headache. At 7 PM, Olivia was sitting with James at Whispering Willow Retreat, having ordered two steaks and a bottle of wine.
Her phone vibrated slightly. She glanced at it and then pushed it in front of James. "The car accident made the news. The girl you saved, Gabriella, just graduated and returned from another country last week. She's the daughter of internet mogul Andrew."
She tapped her finger lightly. "Unfortunately, someone else took credit for your work." James took the phone and glanced at it, seeing a pop-up news article.

The accompanying photo was of Lydia in a nurse's uniform, holding silver needles, looking spirited.
The news article lavishly praised the young nurse, who usually kept a low profile but saved Miss Thompson at a critical moment.
An insider also revealed that Andrew rewarded her with one hundred million dollars.
The internet was full of praise, with everyone calling the young nurse amazing. Lydia's Instagram also instantly gained tens of thousands of followers.
Fame and fortune.
James smiled faintly, took a bite of his steak, and didn't seem to care at all.
"How can you be so calm?" Olivia's red lips parted slightly as she sipped her wine and laughed. "One hundred million dollars, such a huge favor; someone else took the credit. Aren't you angry?"
"Some things can't be taken." James smiled. "What she swallowed will soon be coughed off with interest."
