Chapter 36

Mark was known as the number-one miracle doctor in Rosewood City. He often visited the capital to treat VIPs. Wherever he went, he was the center of attention.

Although Raymond was a billionaire in Rosewood City and a big shot in his own right, when it came to reputation, he still fell a bit short compared to Mark.

Taylor greatly admired Mark, much like how ordinary people idolized celebrities.

However, now she was witnessing this top-tier miracle doctor excitedly shaking hands with a swindler, with stars in his eyes and an eager-to-please attitude that made Taylor feel as if she were dreaming.

Although Olivia was also surprised by Mark's attitude, seeing Taylor's dumbfounded expression gave her a sense of triumph.

Taylor's accusations against James also upset Olivia, but she held back out of respect for Raymond.

Now that Mark, whom Taylor revered, was so enthusiastic about James, she must be dumbfounded.

"Mr. Anderson, he's just a swindler; don't be fooled by him," Taylor couldn't help but remind Mark, "Last night, he almost harmed Grandpa."

"Swindler?" Mark paused, then chuckled, "If James is a swindler, then so am I!"

Taylor's expression turned awkward.

"Mr. Anderson, we can talk about the medical discussion later," James said with a light smile, "Mr. Clark's condition is serious; you should examine him first."

Taylor nodded repeatedly. "Right, let's treat Grandpa first."

Mark looked at James curiously and said, "James, don't you have confidence in this case?"

James just smiled and said, "Mr. Anderson, I'll explain these matters later."

Mark didn't press further, reined in his excitement, and gestured for Raymond to sit down on the sofa.

He first took Raymond's pulse, then used some equipment for a thorough check, and finally reviewed diagnoses from several hospitals.

Mark started calmly, but as time passed, his brows furrowed more deeply.

"Strange." An hour later, Mark shook his head. He said, "The lungs, kidneys, and liver all show some degree of functional failure, but I can't find the cause."

"Blood tests are normal, no signs of poisoning, and it's not the decline from old age..."

"Why does he suffer intermittent abdominal pain as if being twisted and faint without any pattern? It's too strange."

After another fifteen minutes of diagnosis, he stood up with a wry smile. "Taylor, I'm sorry, I can't treat your grandfather's illness."

Hearing that Mark was powerless, Taylor and the others were shocked and asked, "Mr. Anderson, can't you cure him?"

"I can't help it for the time being," Mark replied honestly, "I can't figure out the root cause of the illness, and the equipment doesn't detect anything, so I don't know where to start."

"I need to go back and think about it and consult with a few others."

Hearing this, Taylor and the others looked downcast, never having imagined that even Mark couldn't save the old man.

"James, have you diagnosed him?" Mark looked at James and asked, "What's your opinion?"

Before James could respond, Taylor scoffed, "He said my grandpa was poisoned, that there's a source of poison inside him."

"He also said that during the blood test, the toxin was temporarily forced out by him, so the poison source hid and, therefore, couldn't be detected."

"In a few days, the poison source will secrete toxins again, and then my grandpa will be doomed."

"As if my grandpa can produce poison himself, isn't that nonsense?"

She swept a disdainful glance at James and said, "He also said he could cure it. Even you can't do that. How could he?"

Mark's eyes lit up. He asked, "James, do you really have a way?"

James looked over at the skeletal-looking Raymond, feeling a touch of pity for the pain he endured every day. He said, "I can cure him, but Taylor doesn't believe it."

Taylor snorted with disdain, "Of course, I won't believe you. Your relatives all say you've never studied medicine."

James stared at the petulant girl, neither confirming nor denying, and said, "You have a bad temper, causing hormonal imbalance and irregular menstruation. When you get angry, you often have headaches at the back of your head."

"Also, your left foot was cut last year, soaked in ice water, leaving a serious sequel."

"Now it's not only weak but also cramps up in the middle of the night."

James listed Taylor's symptoms in one breath. "Every time it cramps, it hurts like a knife cutting through flesh, right?"

Taylor's eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at James. She asked, "How do you know?"

Raymond and the others were also stunned.

"Taylor, did your foot get injured? And it cramps?" Raymond asked.

Taylor's eyelids twitched, and she nodded with difficulty.

Last year, while ice skating in the north, she accidentally cut her left foot and fell into an ice hole. Though she was unharmed, her left foot suffered sequelae.

The situation was exactly as James described; she suffered cramps in the middle of the night.

Taylor had seen many doctors, but none had been effective.

She was a proud girl and hadn't told her family about her foot injury. So, James's public revelation took her by surprise.

Could this swindler actually know medicine?
