Chapter 376 Heart Wrenched

"Toxiclear Elixir is poisonous?" James's body stiffened at those words, then he shook his head vigorously. "No way. That's impossible."

"Even if these pills didn't work, they couldn't be poisonous. They're made entirely from herbs; there's no way they could kill anyone."

"And Debra and the others saw the pills countering Gu Sorcery effectively."

James's voice was confident. "How could they suddenly turn into poison pills?"

"I know Toxiclear Elixir couldn't have gone wrong." Olivia trusted James completely. "But when my mom took the pills home, two of the Lee family's nephews were brought in, poisoned."

"With several doctors unable to help, my mom gave them two pills to detoxify them."

"Since she didn't know the clinical effects, she said they were from a highly skilled person."

"After taking the Toxiclear Elixir, the two nephews initially improved and calmed down. My mom was thrilled with its effectiveness."

"She even planned to try it on my grandpa the next day to see if it would help his condition."

"But unexpectedly, the next morning, the two nephews bled from their orifices and died from the poison."

"The Lee family's long-time doctor, Alfonso, examined them and concluded that the Toxiclear Elixir contained Heartbreak Grass, the very ingredient that caused the nephews, who could have lived a few more days, to die."

"So my uncle, Isaac Lee, detained my mom and Debra."

Olivia's eyes sparkled with anger. "He also took the remaining twenty-eight pills for testing."

"When I heard my mom was imprisoned, I rushed back from Rosewood City to Glowing Oasis, only to be detained by Uncle Isaac as soon as I got home."

"He said the investigation was ongoing. Although I wasn't a suspect, I was related to my mom."

"So if it was confirmed that my mom's pills were poisonous, I would have to marry Micah to atone for her crime."

Olivia added, "To prevent me from going all out, Uncle Isaac gave me some freedom."

James spoke coldly, "Isaac still wants to use The Gonzalez Family to deal with Molly."

Olivia nodded. "My mom was imprisoned, and I couldn't resist or explain things to you."

She spoke helplessly, "I still held onto the hope that my mom and Debra were innocent and would be released soon."

"I didn't want you involved because the pills came from you, and I didn't want to complicate things further."

"But you came to Glowing Oasis anyway, constantly pushing to see me. I know you well and sensed a hint of conspiracy in the investigation."

"With Uncle Isaac's capabilities, the investigation should have concluded quickly, but it kept dragging on without any clear answers."

"It's not that they couldn't clarify things; they just didn't want to."

James saw the problem immediately. "If the truth isn't uncovered, you and your mom will always be guilty and won't have any right to the inheritance."

Olivia smiled bitterly, clearly having thought of this. "I never intended to share the inheritance with Uncle Isaac and the others."

"You may not want it, but they do."

James chuckled. "But this also shows that your grandpa still values you and your mom. Otherwise, he wouldn't go to such lengths to frame you."

Olivia nodded lightly. "He was indeed good to me. He even said I should take the helm."

"He claimed that if I controlled the Lee family, it would prosper for another hundred years. If Uncle Isaac took over, they'd squander everything in thirty years."

"I didn't take it to heart." Olivia was clear about her feelings. "Compared to the complicated Lee family, I prefer the WH Group, where I have the final say."

"Seeing the investigation dragging on, my grandpa's condition worsening, and your ultimatum, I decided to act."

Olivia continued, "I took advantage of the shift change at noon, had Kevin and the others knock out the guards, and ran out to find you."

"But I didn't expect Elijah to find out and chase after me with his men."

"No, actually, he could have kept a close watch on me. I managed to escape because he deliberately left a gap, aiming to frame me for fleeing out of guilt."

"He even killed four guards and pinned it on us."

Olivia suddenly realized the day's events. "That bastard is really cunning and shameless."

"Don't worry. He won't last much longer." James looked at the darkening sky. "I'll soon reunite him with Savannah."

"James, what do we do next?" Olivia leaned against James, her beautiful eyes blinking. "I have no one to rely on now. I can only place my hope in you."

Looking at the delicate and helpless Olivia, James felt an urge to devour her.

Olivia always knew that vulnerability was a woman's greatest weapon. Despite having WH Group and Sky Peak Club, she acted as if she was at his mercy.

But James quickly suppressed his inner fire, smiling gently at Olivia. "Rest well today. Tomorrow, take me to see your grandpa."

"Whatever Elijah, Isaac, or poison deaths, as long as we cure your grandpa, all these problems will be resolved."

James hit the nail on the head. "Your grandpa is the key to the entire Lee family situation."

Of course, he didn't mention that Trevor's condition was critical; otherwise, the pill investigation wouldn't have dragged on like this.

So he needed to cure Trevor as soon as possible.

"See my grandpa?" Olivia's eyes lit up, then she slapped her forehead. "Right, you're a miracle doctor. You can definitely help my grandpa get better."

She gave James another kiss. "Here's another reward for you."

James rubbed his head and set Olivia down, changing the subject. "I'll take you to Lucky Hotel to rest first. Tomorrow, we'll go see your grandpa together."

He initially planned to return to Leo Villa but worried about Clifford's magic being disruptive. With Kevin and Briar following, he decided to stay at a hotel for a day.

Olivia clung to James's arm, nodding repeatedly. "Okay, I'll listen to you. With you here, I can sleep peacefully."

James smiled, about to speak, when his phone vibrated. A text message came in. It was from Kaitlyn, asking where he was.

James casually sent her his location at Lucky Hotel, informing her he had some matters to handle.

Kaitlyn acknowledged and didn't say anything further.

James didn't pay much attention, glancing at the gloomy sky outside. It wasn't raining, but a cold wind was blowing.

The car's speed slowed down.

Thirty minutes later, the car stopped at Lucky Hotel. Olivia got out first, scanning the surroundings before narrowing her eyes.

"Kevin, you're in 802. Briar, 804. The door code is six eights."

James informed Kevin and the others of their rooms, then looked at Olivia. "You're in 803. Don't worry about safety; Mystic Alliance members will protect you."

Kevin and the others were slightly surprised to hear this, not expecting James to have Mystic Alliance members at his disposal.

As James handed Olivia her room card, she suddenly stumbled, missing a step and falling to one knee, her knee turning red instantly.

James quickly helped her up. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, just my knee hurts." Olivia looked at James pitifully. "It's okay, I can manage."

James supported her as they slowly walked into the lobby. "Manage? You'll take all night. I'll help you."

Olivia put all her weight on James, letting him half-carry her.

She reveled in the familiar, warm embrace.

"Slow down." James didn't mind, carefully holding Olivia as they entered the lobby. But halfway through, he suddenly froze.

His gaze fell on a tall woman in the lounge area, and the woman looked back at him with sharp eyes.

James's heart clenched.

It was Mary!
