Chapter 193 Save the Adult or the Child?
At seven in the morning, Emily strolled out of the Grand Hotel, feeling a mix of exhaustion and exhilaration.
Last night was wild. Not only did she help her brother deal with Mary, but she also found herself a lover and spent the entire night indulging in passion.
She felt a rush of excitement, especially thinking about Mary and her brother. The thought of Joseph rewarding her with fifty million dollars for stripping Mary of her chastity made her even more thrilled.
Even though the Garcia family was worth billions, Emily, being one of many children, didn't have much to her name. Fifty million dollars would make her truly rich.
A night of pleasure had made her lose track of time. It wasn't until dawn that she noticed dozens of missed calls and messages on her phone.
Emily's phone had been a whirlwind of calls lately—questions about her whereabouts, inquiries about Joseph's trail.
The final call, and the only one she managed to answer, came from her father, Ray. He insisted she be at TranquilTea Haven before eight o'clock.
Her father had never paid her this much attention, nor had he ever invited her for tea, so Emily quickly left the hotel and headed to TranquilTea Haven.
By 7:50 PM, Emily stepped out of the cab and immediately sensed something was off. TranquilTea Haven had a noticeably somber and oppressive atmosphere.
But she didn't think much of it, paid the fare, and headed straight to the third floor, to the place where Harry had died tragically.
As she stepped up from the staircase, Emily's view became clear, and the scene before her left her utterly shocked.
In the middle of the teahouse hall, there was a round table with a dozen exquisite snacks on it, steaming and filling the air with the aroma of food.
James sat at the head of the table, holding a knife and fork, eating and watching the news. He looked completely at ease.
Next to the table, a middle-aged man knelt, his face bruised and swollen, his clothes tattered. It was none other than Emily's father, Ray, whom she feared like a tiger.
The once imposing father, who could make her shiver with just a look, now appeared timid and cowardly.
"Dad, Dad!" Emily rushed over, helping Ray up and shouting, "Why are you kneeling here? What happened?"
Ray didn't respond, only looking at his daughter with venomous eyes, wishing he could strangle her.
If it weren't for Emily's foolish idea, how would his son have forced Mary? How would he have disappeared without a trace? And how would he be suffering such humiliation?
"James, you worthless piece of trash, what are you doing here?"
Emily couldn't lift her father, and her eyes instantly fell on James as she screamed, "What did you do to my dad?"
Though she was busty and brainless, she could see the clues; there were only two people present, so who else could it be but James?
"Bastard, what did you do to my dad?"
Emily shivered, stood up, and shouted at James, "Did you do something to my dad?"
In her view, James wasn't even fit to carry her father's shoes. The reason her father was kneeling must be because of something James did.
James finished his cup of tea, then took a napkin to wipe his mouth, and slowly walked toward Emily.
With each step, Ray's heart pounded violently.
And Emily, who had always looked down on James, didn't realize the danger approaching.
"James, the Garcia family is not someone you can afford to offend," she said harshly. "I don't care what you did, get my dad up right now, do you hear me?"
James smiled faintly. "Such a pretty face, why does it have a heart like a viper's?"
Emily was furious. "Bastard, you live off women, what right do you have to lecture me?"
James walked up to Emily and, without warning, swung his right hand, slapping Emily hard.
Emily screamed and was sent flying.
Her skin was torn, and blood oozed from her mouth and nose.
"Bastard, how dare you hit me?"
Emily clutched her cheek, like a madwoman. "Where did you get the nerve to hit me?"
Before Emily could finish her sentence, James slapped her again, messing up her makeup and making her lose her beauty.
Emily fell to the ground in a mess, her mouth full of blood, extremely angry and aggrieved, then looked at Ray.
"Dad, no matter how bad I am, I'm still your daughter. Are you just going to watch your daughter get beaten up by an outsider for no reason?"
She couldn't understand, couldn't comprehend. "When did the Garcia family become so pathetic?"
Ray felt a knot in his stomach but kept his mouth shut. After kneeling all night, he had lost his backbone and didn't have the guts to stand up to James.
"Innocent?" James sneered. "Last night, you played the victim and lured Mary to Glory Bar for drinks. She treated you like a sister, but you used her as a pawn, teaming up with Joseph to set her up. Drugging her drink wasn't enough; you even took her phone so she couldn't call for help. And now you claim to be innocent?"
His eyes, cold and piercing, felt like they could see right through her.
Emily suddenly realized the gravity of the situation—James was acting out because of the whole Mary fiasco.
She thought, 'No wonder he is so brash and confident. Clearly, he has the backing of the Smith family.
'But wait—wasn't James divorced from Mary? How could he still be under the Smith Family's influence to come after me?
'It seems likely that the Smith family was too wary to confront the Garcia Family directly, so they have unleashed James like a rabid dog.
'This also means my brother must have slept with Mary. Otherwise, the Smith family wouldn't have used James to stir up trouble.'
'Mary!'
Emily finally put two and two together. James was here because of Mary. No wonder he was so aggressive and confident.
It turned out he had the backing of the Smith Family.
But hadn't James divorced Mary? How could the Smith Family still use him to deal with her?
It must be that the Smith Family didn't want to confront the Garcia family directly, so they sent James, this mad dog, to bite them.
This also indicated that her brother had indeed had relations with Mary; otherwise, the Smith Family wouldn't use James to cause trouble.
In her mind, Emily knew that the Smith family's fury was just temporary. Soon enough, they'd come to terms with the Garcia Family. And when that happened, things would turn around—her brother would marry Mary, and she'd get her fifty million.
Emily sneered. "I see now. So you've been so bold and made my dad kneel and even laid a hand on me because you're backed by the Smith family.
"James, no wonder I've always looked down on you; the fact is, you're just a useless piece of trash.
"You have no skills of your own, only relying on the Smith family to make noise.
"Haha, you're just a bully who uses the Smith family to oppress a weak woman like me."
She was convinced that James' confidence came from the Smith family; otherwise, he wouldn't dare to confront the Garcia family even if he had ten times the courage.
James squinted his eyes, a mocking smile on his face.
"Yesterday's incident was just a misunderstanding." After making this judgment, Emily regained her confidence. She paused for a moment, glared at James, and said arrogantly, "Once I call Mary and explain everything, the Smith family will forgive me, and Mary will help me.
"But you hit her best friend and used the Smith family to oppress my father!
"Then, I'll have her kick you out of the Smith family completely. Let's see how you can still act all high and mighty."
In her view, no matter what she had done, Mary would forgive her after she pleaded, at least more than James, this piece of trash.
She picked up her phone to call Mary, but no matter how many times she dialed, she couldn't get through, causing her face to change slightly.
"Stop being so self-righteous!" Ray couldn't stand it anymore and shouted at Emily, "Kneel down immediately and apologize to James. You've caused a huge mess!"
He really wished he could slap his daughter to death.
"Apologize? For what?"
Although Emily had always feared her father, she looked down on James even more. Apologizing to James was more painful than death for her.
"Dad, don't worry. James is just puffed up because he has The Smith Family backing him.
"Once I get through to Mary and convince her to withdraw the Smith Family's support, James will be nothing."
She glared at James's face. "We don't need to be afraid of this piece of trash. The Smith family is just using him."
Believing that she was doing them a favor, not creating a mess, Emily dialed Mary's number again.
However, the ringing continued, and no one answered.
She tried several other numbers and sent texts and WhatsApp messages but got no response from Mary.
She thought, 'What is going on?
'What on earth is going on?
'Why wouldn't Mary, who always treats me like a good sister, answer my calls?'
"It's you." Emily glared at James, suddenly realizing and shouting, "It must be you who made Mary not answer my calls. You instigator! No matter what issues I have with Mary, it's not your place, a discarded piece of trash, to interfere."
She was convinced that James had driven a wedge between her and Mary.
"You better know your place and get as far away as possible. The affairs of the Garcia family are none of your business."
James didn't waste words with her; he just looked at Ray. "Have you decided? Save the adult or the child?"
Without a word, Ray sprang into action. He grabbed Emily and hurled her out the window, sending her plummeting.
