Chapter 15

Call for backup?

Jacob's face was a mask of sorrow and anger; today, he had been bullied to the extreme.

He felt incredibly upset and stifled inside.

But he also knew that any more complaints would only lose him more face.

So, bearing the pain, Jacob took out his phone and shouted, "You just wait."

He was going to call for people; he wanted to reclaim this sense of justice.

In the aftermath of their shock, Donna and the others looked at James as if he were a fool.

Not taking the hint to quit while ahead or to make a run for it, but instead continuing to challenge the SH Corporation, it was as if his brain was waterlogged.

Even if James could fight, could he really beat fifteen, fifty, or even five hundred?

Jennifer's surprise turned to mockery, seeing James as someone who didn't know when to advance or retreat, impulsive and doomed to be a nobody for life.

James paid no mind to Jacob and the others, merely standing in place, constantly cycling the Life Gem.

Besides needing to restore his energy and strength quickly, he also had to suppress the cruelty and murderous intent in his heart.

He felt that the fire he had suppressed in the morning was blazing up again.

If he didn't vent this fire, it would severely burn him.

James thought, 'Is it due to a lack of white light, an imbalance of yin and yang, that I have become so irritable?'

At this moment, over twenty burly men dragging steel pipes were charged out.

Then, eight vans drove up the street.

Jacob had called back the core workers from outside.

The van doors opened, and more than seventy hatchet men emerged, not particularly muscular but with faces full of malice, obviously thugs.

Without a word, they put on gloves and masks.

Then, they dragged several large boxes from the vans, tossed them on the ground, opened them, and revealed titanium alloy batons.

Each man took one, and with a slap in the palm, they made a snapping sound.

They were professional and ruthless.

Donna and the others sneered again, waiting to see James's misfortune.

In their view, James shouldn't be so formidable.

Small shopkeepers hurried to close up shop, while the braver ones dared to sneak peeks at this gang of toughs, and the timider hid away, afraid of becoming collateral damage.

When Jacob saw the reinforcements arrive, he gained confidence and pointed at James, yelling, "Come on, take this guy down..."

Over a hundred people surrounded James.

James didn't waste any words; his body shot out like a cannonball, instantly flipping over the gesticulating Jacob.

Jacob was sent flying, tumbling over a dozen people to the ground in a most undignified manner.

The dozens of enforcers were first stunned, then roared in unison, "Kill him."

They swung their batons and charged at James.

James counterattacked.

Despite facing dozens of men, he was completely fearless, channeling the Life Gem as infinite power surged to him.

I am taking on ten at a time.

The few enforcers in the front, their batons hadn't even touched James's body when they found themselves flying into the air, followed by immense pain.

They crashed to the ground!

Their ribs are broken.

James was incredibly fast, covering a distance of a dozen meters in an instant.

Engage in close combat.

James seized a baton, swinging it like a shooting star.

The sound of the wind rose, swift as lightning.

Six enforcers felt a pain in their heads, screaming as they fell to the ground.

Blood flowed from their foreheads.

James didn't stop, his body turning, sweeping through a dozen more.

Fast and fierce.

Another series of screams surrounded them.

A dozen enforcers, clutching their broken arms, retreated, their batons falling to the ground.

In the blink of an eye, over twenty were down, showcasing James's ferocity.

Jacob was dazed, present at the scene, but unable to see clearly how the man had struck.

He began to feel that there was something uncanny about James.

Donna and the others were also taken aback, having thought James would be overwhelmed, that even if he didn't die, he would be severely injured.

But unexpectedly, James was ferociously powerful, knocking down the charging enforcers with just a few swings.

"How can this be?" Jennifer murmured to herself, "How can this be?"

In her view, James was certain to be badly beaten today; even if he could win ten or twenty men, he couldn't possibly beat a hundred.

But now, James was truly fighting a hundred people by himself.

'When did James become so powerful?' she thought.

Her ex-boyfriend, who once knelt before her, begging to borrow one thousand dollars, seemed to be on a path of revenge, growing to heights she couldn't reach.

She couldn't accept it.

"Continue!" James said.

With over twenty people down, he showed no joy or excitement, merely gesturing to Jacob with a hook of his finger.

Unable to contain his rage, Jacob commanded, "Attack!"

As he spoke, dozens more charged.

Amidst the undeniable shock of the crowd, James shifted his stance, his body a blur, kicking one man flying more than 20 feet away.

Then he delivered a mid-air kick, sending another opponent flying like a winter melon.

Next, James charged into the crowd, swinging his baton.

Jacob and the others couldn't even see the shadow of the baton.

What they saw was a streak of light whirling around James, like a silver snake in a frenzied dance, like a dragon soaring.

Screams of agony and panic quickly became the dominant chorus.

The scene was as chaotic as could be.

No one had expected that dozens of toughs could still not overpower James.

James once again knocked down the more than 20 enforcers who charged.

One by one, either their hands were broken, their feet were damaged, or their heads were split open.

The last rays of the setting sun cast a beautiful arc over James's figure.

Jennifer's expression was slightly dazed, her heart growing more and more uncomfortable.

'No, I can't accept this...' she thought.

At that moment, the baton extended forward, blocking seven falling steel pipes, and James followed with a spinning kick.

Eight men were sent flying into the open space!

Unrivaled!

James looked at the remaining enforcers and sneered, "Continue!"

His voice was so cold it lacked any human warmth, striking hard against the hearts of Jacob and the others.

They, who had been domineering for years, now felt a sense of collapse.

Gritting his teeth, Jacob commanded, "Attack!"

Over fifty people yelled as they charged.

James met them head-on, his baton cleaving through the air like a wave-breaking shuttle, causing a tumultuous uproar.

The screams never ceased.

In the blink of an eye, James had broken through the ranks of over fifty men.

Behind him lay warriors with bruised faces, broken hands, and feet.

The area was filled with screams, injuries, and stunned silence; fighting one against a hundred was not a myth.

After kicking the last enforcer away, James slowly walked towards the pale-faced Jacob, saying, "Continue..."

Hearing the words, Jacob and the others collapsed inwardly, shouting, "Attack, attack... don't come any closer."

Jacob, while ordering the enforcers to continue the charge, trembled as he backed away, also warning James, "Don't come over..."

He was filled with immense fear.

No one struggled to protect Jacob, not only because many had indeed lost their ability to fight, but most importantly, James was like a demon. He was just too terrifying.

Jacob said, "Stop the nonsense, call for people, keep calling."

At that moment, James approached Jacob and said, "Call the toughest, the most badass ones..."

Jacob's face turned green, but still, through gritted teeth, he made another phone call.

Soon, over a dozen more cars arrived, bringing over more than one hundred people.

James, without a word, with overwhelming momentum, knocked them all to the ground.

"Call for people, keep calling..." James slapped Jacob's face.

Jacob's fingers trembled as he called for people.

Quickly, over two hundred more enforcers arrived, but their fighting power was even weaker.

James effortlessly knocked these people down.

There were five hundred people...

When James knocked down Jacob again, the sound of the fall struck hard against the hearts of Brian and the others.

Donna and the others were heartbroken; their admired rivers and lakes bigwig Jacob was so easily handled by James.

James, whom they had looked down upon as a loser, now seemed to be standing on their heads, looking down at them.

And Jennifer's feelings were even more complicated.

This battle.

It was like utter humiliation, a collective determination, the kind of anger that came from deep within, like a raging fire ready to consume her.

James, whom she had always looked down upon.

He had so simply and brutally made her lose face, utterly defeated.

She didn't know how to describe her feelings.

Frustration was the majority of it, but there was also admiration, and the more she admired, the more uncomfortable she felt inside.

In the end, she could only clench her hands, her veins throbbing.

She thought, 'So what if you can fight? Can you achieve anything with it?'

'What era is it now? No matter how good your martial skills are, you can't beat a gun.'

But the more she thought this way, the worse she felt inside, especially when she saw her female companions' admiring looks; her heart became even more uncomfortable.

Brian also kept repeating, "This can't be! It is impossible..."

In front of the open space, James looked at Jacob and shouted, "Call for people, keep calling!"

"Mr. Davis, there's no one left..."

Jacob's face was tear-streaked. He said, "There's really no one left."

He had already called all the elite of the trade association, and the rest were just low-level thugs; bringing more would only lead to more carnage.

Jacob thought, 'Who else could I call?'

'Could it be Mr. Collins?'

If Aaron knew that the whole trade association had been challenged, he would probably shoot Jacob first.

James shouted at Jacob, "Is this all in the SH Corporation? Just five hundred men? Just this level of combat power?"

"You've all disappointed me so much; you've let Mr. Collins down."

James, as if lamenting their incompetence, said, "Take the phone, call Mr. Collins."

It was too much bullying.

Jacob was about to cry. His living environment was not like this, and his understanding was not like this.

The next moment, his legs bent, and he knelt before James, saying, "Mr. Williams, I was wrong."

"I bow and apologize to you. Please give me another chance..."

He wept bitterly and said, "I'll never dare to offend you again; I'll compensate you!"

"I'll give you 200,000 dollars, no, one million dollars; I offer it with both hands..."
