Chapter 403 You Are

Wolf Club? Red Wolf? James squinted slightly, then returned to his calm demeanor.

The stylish woman was fairly attractive, though her makeup was too heavy, detracting from her natural charm. Her outfit was passable—a tight, strappy mini dress that clung to her alluring figure like a second skin, showcasing her curves perfectly.

A dozen burly men stood behind her in unison, their ominous presence making James look up.

But he only glanced at them briefly before pouring himself another cup of coffee.

"Can you leave? You're actually ruinning my coffee time here." James was blunt.

The director stepped forward, pointing at James. "President, this is James, the one who poisoned Ms. Gonzalez."

James chuckled nonchalantly.

"What do you mean I poisoned Ms. Gonzalez? It was an accident, and I already apologized. Besides, you have the X serum, don't you?"

"Just give her a shot of that. Why come here to blame me?"

He could imagine Isla's current state—probably half-dead.

Seeing James's playful smile, Director Huang nearly exploded with rage.

"James, cut the crap and hand over the antidote, or you're done for today."

Yesterday, they had planned to take credit for James's work, but James's handshake trick ruined everything, poisoning Isla and infuriating Director Huang.

They had spent the entire night trying to detoxify her, but nothing worked. Fortunately, she had taken a few Toxiclear Elixirs to delay the effects, or she would have been dead by now.

So, after stabilizing her condition, Isla sent the director to demand the antidote.

"Antidote?" James spoke lazily. "The antidote is the X serum. That's what you and Ms. Gonzalez said, isn't it?"

"You—" The director was about to burst a blood vessel. He shouted, "Kid, now's not the time to play dumb. Hand over the antidote, or else... I'm telling you, if anything happens to Ms. Gonzalez, you'll be in trouble. Your whole family will be in trouble."

"And this lady is Aurelia Kingsley, Vice President of the Wolf Business Association and a friend of Ms. Gonzalez."

The director threatened James. "If you don't hand over the antidote, you're going against the Wolf Business Association. Your fate will be worse than death."

Unable to suppress James openly, they resorted to underhanded threats.

James shrugged. "Sorry, no antidote."

"Are you asking for trouble?" The director roared. "Get him!"

"Stop!"

As the dozen black-clad men were about to pounce, Aurelia, who had been silent, coldly ordered them to halt, stopping the director and his men in their tracks.

She then looked at James and spoke calmly, "You're James? I'm Aurelia. Isla is like a sister to me. I'm here today to ask you for a favor."

"Don't make things difficult for her, or you'll regret it."

"I want the antidote, the credit, and an apology on your knees. Then we'll let this go."

Aurelia exhaled a smoke ring from her red lips. "Be proactive. It'll be better for everyone."

James smirked. "Why should I?"

The director's face twisted in anger. "Don't push your luck."

He hated James. If it weren't for James's interference and refusal to give up the credit, he would have been celebrated as the hero who cured a hundred poisoned people, basking in fame and fortune.

James looked at the director. "Luck? What luck?"

Aurelia's smile turned sharp. "You sound so confident. You must be quite skilled."

"James, besides Gerald backing you, what else do you have? Show me."

"Let me see who you are to be so nonchalant in front of Red Wolf."

Aurelia leaned forward, her posture revealing a hint of allure, yet her demeanor was icy.

James shrugged. "I'm just a doctor, but that doesn't stop me from looking down on you."

The director growled. "Watch your mouth, kid."

The black-clad men shouted, ready to tear James apart.

Aurelia waved her slender fingers, stopping the director and his men, a faint smile on her lips.

"Such arrogance, so full of yourself." Aurelia sneered.

"Unfortunately, it means nothing to me. James, by coming here, we're showing we're not afraid of Gerald's protection."

"Yes, he protects you, so we can't touch you openly. But in the shadows?"

"Do you know what the Wolf Business Association is? The underground rulers of Glowing Oasis."

"To put it bluntly, I could crush you like an ant with a flick of my finger."

"Look at the people in front of you. They're all top figures in the underworld. You're just a doctor. You can't play this game."

"Today, you have two choices: hand over the antidote, give up the credit, and apologize to Ms. Gonzalez on your knees."

"Or show us your skills, prove you're untouchable."

She leaned in, her eyes cold as she looked at James, her tone arrogant.

"If you choose neither, I'll choose for you. Don't say I didn't warn you."

"Though I'm just a weak woman, I can make you and your loved ones regret it."

Aurelia crossed her long legs, striking a seductive pose. "I won't let anyone bully Isla."

James laughed. "Aurelia, right? Do you enjoy throwing your weight around?"

"Throwing my weight around? Yes, I am. What of it?"

Aurelia pulled out a phone, tossing it in front of James with a cold smile.

"If you're unhappy, thinking we're bullying you, call for help. We'll wait."

James looked at her with interest. "Calling for help? That's too boring."

"Scared?" To Aurelia and her crew, it sounded like James was looking for an excuse, making her sneer.

"Scared is scared. Don't make lame excuses to cover your incompetence."

"The saddest thing isn't being incompetent, but knowing it and still pretending."

"Stop wasting time. Hand over the antidote. Don't make things hard for Ms. Gonzalez."

Aurelia blew another smoke ring, which slowly dispersed in James's face.

James smiled faintly. "Isla isn't worth my trouble."

"You talk like a king." Aurelia leaned back in her chair, her face showing disdain. "I'd love to see who is worth your trouble."

"You are."

James smiled, stood up, and poured his coffee over Aurelia's head.
