Chapter 157 Divorce

James wanted to explain further and tell them the value of the trinket, but as he saw the family's hostility, his emotions flared up, too.

"Take it or leave it, believe it or not." James' voice deepened. "In any case, I won't give up the General jade."

Addison shouted, "Get out."

Abigail chimed in, "Anyway, you have your connections now. It's either Jacob or Aaron coming and going. The Smith Family is too small for you. Go stay in your high society circle."

She said sarcastically, "Don't worry, we will avoid bothering you in the future and won't dare to block your way."

James ignored her and just stared at Mary, asking, "Do you want me to leave too?"

Mary was cold as ice. "I said, give the jade to Dad, and I'll give you money."

"It's not about the money. Fine, I'll leave," James roared in anger, disheartened, and turned to walk up the stairs to pack his things and leave.

"Apologize to Uncle, Aunt, and Mary before you go." Joseph, who had been watching the drama, stood up and sternly said, "The Smith Family is not a place where you can do whatever you want."

At the entrance of the Enchanted Vine Tavern, he had been slapped twice by the greeter called by James, and he was also very angry.

James pushed him aside, "Get out!"

"You bastard, you dare to hit me?" Joseph pretended to be very angry and went up to teach James a lesson.

James kicked Joseph in the stomach, and he curled up on the ground like a shrimp.

"Joseph, Joseph, are you okay?" Charles and Addison ran over. "James, you're out of control, who gave you the right to hit people?"

"Joseph." Mary also stepped forward to apologize, but James grabbed her arm and pulled her back.

James coldly questioned, "Don't you hate him? Didn't you stay away from him? Why are you so concerned now?"

"Yes, I'm concerned." Mary struggled hard. "At least he helped me and truly loves me, but you, for thirty million, don't even recognize me and Dad."

James tightened his grip slightly. "I didn't help you?"

"Let go of Mary, come at me if you have a problem." Joseph, who was helped up by others, righteously charged at James again.

James kicked him away again.

Joseph screamed in pain, crashing into Christopher and falling to the ground, looking very pathetic.

Emily screamed and rushed up, only to be pushed down by James.

"Bastard." Mary slapped him in a fit of rage and shouted, "You're a violent maniac!"

James' cheek bore five finger marks.

He couldn't feel the pain; his pain nerves were as numb as his heart.

"He hit me, and you said nothing. I kicked him once, and you're frantic?"

James sneered, "It seems Joseph is indeed more important to you than I am."

"Get out! Get out!" Mary never expected that James would have no remorse and even dare to question her.

For thirty million, he didn't hesitate to argue with her and her father, made up stories to clear his name, and even used worthless trinkets to deceive her father.

Now he even publicly beat Joseph and his siblings. If they pursued the matter, James would likely end up in jail. Mary felt James was beyond saving.

Moreover, James' refusal to listen to advice showed he didn't care about her at all.

It seemed that with Olivia's backing, his whole demeanor had changed.

The  accumulated over the past few days, and Mary's thought of starting over vanished completely.

She cried and shouted at James, "Get out, just get out, and never come back. Aren't you asking for a divorce? I'll grant it, I'll grant it."

She directly pulled out a stack of papers from the TV cabinet. Half a year ago, the Smith Family had prepared many agreements for the divorce.

Mary randomly picked one, signed her name on it, and threw it at James, shouting, "Divorce, divorce, we'll go our separate ways from now on."

James' face remained calm as he coldly looked at Mary.

"I thought, after a year, I would have some place in your heart. Now it seems it was all wishful thinking."

James mocked himself, "I can't even compare to a Joseph."

"Joseph is ten times, a hundred times better than you." Mary deliberately provoked James, "After I divorce you, I'll definitely choose to be with him."

James' hands and feet trembled, feeling as if he had fallen into an ice cave.

He wanted to slap the face in front of him, but memories from eighteen years ago desperately reminded him not to hit women, not to hit women.

"Fine, divorce."

James laughed wildly, picked up a pen, signed his name, and then tore off a copy to keep.

He threw away the pen and turned to leave, but as he walked, he kicked a chair.

With a loud crash, the chair shattered, and wood chips flew everywhere.

Everyone in the Smith Family was stunned, watching James' departing figure.

No one expected James to have such strength.

Charles frowned slightly. 'Could James really have taken down the bandits?'

Mary's tears flowed even more, feeling heartbroken.

She didn't understand why James had no remorse.

'What does that kick mean? Is it dissatisfaction? Or a show of defiance!?'

She was completely disillusioned with James and never wanted to see him again.

She rushed to the door and shouted, "Goodbye!"

"Goodbye!"

James didn't look back, walking away resolutely.

Almost as soon as James left, a blue and white police car arrived outside.

The car door opened, and three straight and capable officers got out. They walked into the villa unhurriedly and politely asked everyone, "Hello, my name is Ronald Lewis, from the Rosewood City Police Department's Criminal Investigation Team. Does James live here?"

'Police?' Addison shouted coldly, "We kicked him out."

"Yes, he's no longer part of the Smith Family. If you have any business, call him directly." Christopher echoed, "He caused the trouble and he should deal with it himself. It has nothing to do with us."

Joseph also said, "That's right. James' criminal activities are his own problem. Don't bother the Smith Family, or I'll reserve the right to..."

"His phone is off. Do you have any other way to contact him?" Ronald interrupted Joseph's nonsense. "He took down four wanted criminals, and we need him to make a statement."

"Took down four wanted criminals?"

Addison and Emily were dumbfounded. "He really encountered bandits?"

"Yes, four criminals with numerous lives on their hands, the Midnight Killers from the wanted list."

"According to their confession, they originally planned to rob the General jade and then kill James and dump his body." Ronald's voice was very clear. "But they were taken down by James."

The entire villa fell silent.
