Chapter 299 It's Not Up to You
Mandy and her group left dejectedly.
Not only were they facing Calvin's ban, but they also had to pay a large compensation to BH Pharmaceuticals, ensuring a future of poverty.
James showed no mercy, especially for women who discriminated against others.
Gideon, knowing James' identity, apologized to him, admitting that today's turmoil was due to his own bad temper.
Not only did James not blame him, but he also entrusted Gideon with the compensation from the Benjamin couple and Mandy's group to be used for the filming of Bashful Flower.
James also directly called Kaitlyn over for an audition, solving the spokesperson issue and giving Kaitlyn an opportunity.
Although Kaitlyn was still a bit inexperienced, her energy and liveliness impressed Gideon greatly.
After a series of camera tests, Gideon finally confirmed Kaitlyn as the spokesperson for Bashful Flower.
After everything was settled, James prepared to return to the hospital. However, before he could leave the office building, a stretch Lincoln car drove into BH Pharmaceuticals.
Sarah appeared with a few people, and before they could speak, James welcomed them into the conference room and said with a smile. "Ms. Howard, you're so busy managing assets worth hundreds of billions of dollars. What brings you here?"
Sarah, no longer as arrogant as before, smiled warmly, "James, I came here specifically to find you. After all, there are too many people at the hospital."
James looked at her curiously, "Is something wrong? About your father?"
"No, no, my father is fine," Sarah waved her hand repeatedly, signaling her assistants to leave, and then closed the conference room door. "First, I'm here to apologize on behalf of Calvin. He's already told me about Mandy's incident. He feels very guilty and asked me to apologize on his behalf. I am also very sorry. It's our fault for not managing things properly."
She was shocked when she received Calvin's call, never expecting that the woman Calvin kept would provoke James.
James took a sip of tea and said, "Take it easy, it's solved already. I won't keep it in my mind."
"Understood," Sarah breathed a sigh of relief, then took out a contract and handed it to James, saying, "The second thing is that I want to make amends. Previously, to pressure you and Mary, The Howard Family gave a $140 million contract to Jane. Jane is Mary's competitor, and with this contract, she could threaten Mary's position. But simply voiding it isn't an option; it would easily lead to attacks on TG Company, so The Howard Family would rather pay compensation to break the contract. So I drafted a new contract, intending to establish a long-term, deep cooperation with Mary."
She explained her purpose to James. "The contract is already drafted, signed, and stamped. If Mary agrees, it can take effect with her signature."
James nodded and smiled, "That's cool."
James didn't dwell on past grievances. With $20 billion already in hand, there was no point in accusing The Howard Family of using underhanded tactics.
He glanced at the contract, noting that the terms were very favorable to TG Company and it was a ten-year agreement.
But when James saw the amount, he was stunned and said, "Such a large sum?"
"Sarah insists on this amount," Sarah's face lit up with a smile. "And if the amount isn't substantial, it wouldn't be enough to maintain Miss Smith's position."
"Well, that's true, but the number is indeed staggering," James tossed the contract on the table. "Luckily, it's for ten years. If it were for three or five years, TG Company might choke on it. But why bring the contract to me instead of giving it directly to Mary?"
"If I give the contract to Miss Smith, it would just be a business transaction," Sarah explained, "No matter how grateful she is, it would be limited to the cooperation and wouldn't involve any personal feelings. But if you give the contract to Miss Smith, it would be a huge favor for TG Company. Miss Smith would be more grateful to James, and your relationship would be further strengthened."
Now fully in control of the Howard Group, Sarah had become not only more astute and assertive but also more thorough in her considerations.
"Alright, with such sincerity, I'll accept this gift," James looked at Sarah with a smile. "But I won't take this favor for free. Hasn't the Howard Family always wanted the overseas agency for Bashful Flower? Now I claim that the overseas agency rights are yours."
James squinted his eyes. "Just don't let me down."
Handing over the overseas agency of Bashful Flower to the Howard Group was a good choice for James, as it indirectly extended his influence into the Howard Group abroad.
"Thank you, James, thank you, James." Hearing this, Sarah was overjoyed, almost rushing to hug James.
She and Simon came to Rosewood City for two reasons: to seek medical treatment and to secure the agency rights for Bashful Flower. However, several rounds of negotiations had been ruthlessly rejected by BH Pharmaceuticals.
Now that James had resolved this matter, Sarah was naturally elated.
With this achievement, she could better stabilize her position in the Howard Group, and no amount of gossip could withstand the power of money.
"Alright, that's the deal. Head back if you have nothing else," James put away the Howard contract. "I need to visit TG Company now."
Sarah nodded repeatedly, "Understood, shall I give you a ride?"
"No need, I have a car." James didn't want to get too close to Sarah, to avoid mixing business with personal matters. He waved goodbye to Sarah.
At 5 PM, the post-rain sunshine was very pleasant.
Sitting in the CEO's office, Mary rubbed her head, glanced at the sunset outside the window, and then picked up a market report.
Outdated products, old equipment, insufficient funds, and partners leaving one after another. TG Company was on the brink of bankruptcy.
But Mary had no choice; 80% of the annual profits were taken by the Smith Clan, leaving only 20% for operations and handling various emergencies.
A company with $400 million in assets had a debt ratio of 60%. The little amount left each year wasn't enough to research new products or even upgrade factory equipment.
The company had survived these years by Mary constantly taking out loans, scaling up, then mortgaging it, and taking out more loans, using scale to get funds.
Then she used the scale and funds to gain customer trust, asking them for larger deposits to keep operations going.
Now, with products not selling and customers leaving, she was out of options.
Mary smiled bitterly and shook her head. If she didn't find a major client soon to get funds to replace products and equipment, the company would likely go bankrupt, let alone passing any assessments.
At that moment, the door was pushed open without a knock. The person walked in wearing high heels and approached the desk.
She threw a document in front of Mary. "Here's another document that needs your signature. Please sign it quickly."
A woman of similar age, wearing a shirt, tall and slender, with a delicate face, stood with her arms crossed, looking down at Mary.
"Alright, let me take a look." Mary frowned slightly but didn't get angry. She just picked up the document to review it.
"Mary, hurry up and sign it. I need it urgently." Jane impatiently tapped her fingers on the desk, looking aggressive. "Are you deliberately making things difficult for me?"
Mary slowly raised her head, "I haven't finished reading the document. I don't know what it's about, so how can I sign it? If something goes wrong, will you take responsibility? Also, Miss Smith, your recent behavior has made me very uncomfortable."
"Well, sorry about that. Who knew you were so arrogant, getting uncomfortable with a little urging," Jane sneered, "If you're so uncomfortable, just step down, then I'll take over TG Company. I'll definitely do better than you."
Jane was very annoyed with Mary. She had been at the company for several months, and Mary still hadn't voluntarily stepped down.
"You better watch your words," Mary's face turned slightly cold. "Let me make it clear for you, unless the board kicks me out, I won't give up my position to you."
The two sisters used to play together, but now meeting like this and being used to climbing up made her feel uncomfortable.
"What's there to be sad about? If you can't do it, then I'll take over," Jane mocked, "Besides, it's not up to you whether you step down or not."
"Tomorrow at ten, the board meeting will see you out," She waved the document in her hand. "With a $140 million contract in hand, you don't stand a chance."
