Chapter 430 A Member of The Dragon's Breath
Ivy was Delilah, and Delilah was Ivy.
Changing her name to take out James was just a way to better hide her identity and deal with the aftermath. But she hadn't expected James to recognize her right away.
Without hesitation, she attacked.
In a flash, her blade was at James's throat, and she was standing eerily close to him, fast and ruthless.
James seemed to be thrown back by the force of the strike, his body swaying like a willow leaf—Wind and Cloud Steps.
The blade was fierce but missed its mark. Ivy quickly reversed her grip and slashed at James's neck again.
But James dodged once more.
Ivy let out a sharp cry and unleashed a flurry of thirteen strikes.
Each strike was deadly, and the blade's light enveloped James, making it seem like he could be killed at any moment.
But Ivy knew that each strike barely missed James by an inch or two, never quite hitting him.
No matter how she attacked, she couldn't break through his defenses.
Her face grew stern. James was even more formidable than she had imagined.
"Impressive, much stronger than Rowan," James said calmly, dodging her attacks in the confined space. "No wonder you became Aurelia's lethal weapon."
"But you shouldn't have come to assassinate me. Rowan couldn't take me down with a gun, so how do you expect to kill me with a knife?"
"Ivy, you should surrender. If you surrender and tell me the secrets of the Blood Medical Sect and Aurelia, I might spare your life."
"Otherwise, you'll end up just like Black Wolf."
James continued to dodge Ivy's sharp blade while trying to persuade her to surrender.
Aurelia was nothing to him, but the Blood Medical Sect intrigued him.
Ivy didn't respond, just shook her right hand.
Her blade, which had been sharp and rigid, suddenly became as flexible as a willow branch.
Ivy's movements were graceful, like a dance, and the blade's tip followed James's body fluidly.
The blade softened but sped up, its tip like spreading ink, reaching for James's chest.
"Interesting!" James showed a hint of admiration, then slid his foot to narrowly avoid the strike.
Before Ivy could react, James flicked his right hand. "Now, take my sword!"
Without any visible preparation, the Piercing Blade flashed from his palm and struck out slowly.
The sword seemed slow, but it reached Ivy's blade in an instant.
Ivy's eyes widened, and she cried out, blocking with her blade.
The sword and blade clashed in mid-air, and the blade's tip shattered, scattering in the air.
Before Ivy could retreat, James punched her, hitting her squarely.
The long blade emitted a crisp sound as it shook violently.
At the same time, Ivy, gripping the handle, felt a tremendous force.
It was as if she had been hit by a boulder, uncontrollably retreating.
But she didn't panic, her face only slightly changing. She swung the broken blade to defend herself while agilely retreating towards the door.
She tried her best to prevent James from pursuing, but she had lost the initiative and was now on the defensive.
In the next second, James moved forward, a more graceful half-moon arc slicing through the cold air and space.
The Piercing Blade moved as naturally as the wind, gently spinning towards her, the arc formed by the sword's tip was like a small whirlwind in the sky.
Though slow and steady, who could resist the wind? And who knew where it came from?
Ivy's face changed, and she swung the broken blade repeatedly, but the Piercing Blade still pierced through her defense.
Ivy felt a sharp pain. She looked down while defending and saw a wound on her shoulder.
Blood flowed continuously, staining half her clothes.
She hadn't expected James to be so powerful, no wonder Rowan had failed.
Ivy's face twisted in anger. She slashed at James three times, forcing him back, then turned sharply, opened the door, and rushed out.
The assassination had failed, and with James being so dominant, Ivy had no choice but to escape first.
As she reached the open hall, the lights came on, revealing two men at the door.
One was Francis, the other Clifford. Though Ivy didn't know them, she could tell they were not to be trifled with.
She instinctively stepped back, only to be blocked by James.
Just as Ivy's nerves tightened, Dax opened a door, rubbing his eyes as he came out. "What's all the noise? Are we having a midnight snack?"
He looked dazed and harmless.
"Don't move!" Ivy quickly turned, efficiently taking Dax hostage and pressing her blade to his neck.
"Clear the way, or I'll kill him."
She was fierce, pressing the blade down to draw blood from Dax.
But Ivy soon noticed that James and the others weren't scared at all. Instead, they looked at her with pity, as if she were the one being held hostage.
James sighed softly, "Ivy, surrender."
Ivy shouted angrily, "Clear the way, did you hear me?"
James shook his head. "Even if we let you go, you won't get far."
At this moment, Dax seemed to wake up a bit more. He dipped his finger in his blood and licked it, his smile turning eerie.
"Won't get far?" Ivy sneered, "Once I'm out that door, I'll jump into the lake. With my swimming skills, not even ten of you could find me."
"Fine," James waved to Francis and Clifford, "Let her go."
Francis and Clifford, who had been on high alert, immediately stepped aside.
Clifford even opened the main door. "Please."
Ivy was slightly stunned, not expecting James to give in so easily. Could the hostage be that important?
But she didn't think too much about it. She barked, "Everyone back off, don't move."
She moved forward, dragging Dax with her.
But suddenly, she found herself unable to move. Her hands went numb, and her legs stiffened.
Then she saw dozens of small centipedes, green snakes, and scorpions crawling out of Dax's body, climbing onto her neck and face, a few centipedes even crawled into her nose and mouth.
She tried to spit it out, but it didn't come out. She shouted at Dax, "What did you do to me?"
She was both shocked and furious.
Dax chuckled, slipping out of her grasp, then grabbed a scorpion and tossed it into her shirt.
Ivy was on the verge of collapse. She never imagined that the random hostage she took would be so terrifying.
"See, I told you, something will happen to you," James said, stepping forward and smiling at Ivy, "Now, are you ready to tell me something?"
Ivy was furious, wanting to die rather than submit, but the pain from the venomous creatures was unbearable. She could only scream, "What do you want me to say?"
"I don't know," James smiled. "But if you want to live, you need to give me something valuable."
As he spoke, Dax placed another centipede on Ivy's wound, burrowing in.
"Sky Wolf, Sky Wolf," Ivy couldn't help but shout, "Sky Wolf is The Dragon's Breath's mole in the Blood Medical Sect, but we've turned him!"
