Chapter 303 Who's in Favor, Who's Against
After dealing with Melissa, James and Mary left Peach Blossom Villa No. 1, because they didn't want to see Addison anymore.
James dropped Mary off at the Smith Villa, and as usual, Mary tried to persuade James to stay.
James didn't hesitate and spent the night on the sofa, but in the middle of the night, he noticed that Mary's room door was ajar.
This was the first time Mary hadn't locked her door.
Although James had various thoughts running through his mind, he ultimately didn't dare to go in and explore.
If Mary had just forgotten to lock the door, barging in would be a disaster.
That night, James slept uneasily and only fell asleep near dawn. When he woke up, it was already past nine.
He found that Mary had already left, and on the mirror above the sink, she had written "Useless" with lipstick.
Burst into regret and embarrassment, James almost slapped himself.
After washing up and having breakfast, James thought about going back to JZL Medical Clinic but eventually picked up the contract and went to the TG Company.
TG Company board meeting was arranged today, and James didn't want Mary to be bullied. Even if she had to step down, she should step down with her head held high.
At 9:40 AM, in the TG Company multifunctional conference room, sixteen people were seated.
In addition to the board members, various shareholders were also present.
Most of these people were members of the Smith Family, with sixty percent having flown in overnight from Stardust City, essentially those who had encroached on TG Company's interests.
Mary arrived at the conference room with her secretary, only to find the president's seat occupied.
Jane was sitting there.
Wearing a Floral Elegance blouse and stockings, with elegant perfume, Jane looked both capable and sexy, exuding confidence.
"Mary, today is an expanded board meeting. Not only did you not arrive early, but you're also fifteen minutes late." Seeing Mary and her secretary, Jane shook her wristwatch. "With this attitude, no wonder you can't grow the company or make money. Tell me, why are you late for such an important meeting?" Jane raised her chin and questioned Mary harshly.
The dozen or so shareholders and board members of the Smith Corporation also chimed in, criticizing Mary, "Yeah, it's outrageous for the president to be late for a meeting... If other companies knew the president was so lax, they would refuse to cooperate with us... No wonder our performance is getting worse, and our profits are dwindling. The president doesn't care... Reform is necessary, or the company will go bankrupt..."
Mary ignored them and calmly said, "Let's start."
Jane's tone remained harsh as she continued, "I'm asking you, why are you late? Don't try to change the subject. The meeting was at 9:30, and you arrived at 9:45. What do you mean by that?"
"Jane, are you done?"Mary didn't hold back. "First, you verbally informed me that today's meeting was at 10:00. Now you're saying 9:30. Either you made a mistake, or you set me up. Don't try to deny it. I have a recording device and I can play it for everyone at any time."
Jane's face changed, and her eyes were filled with resentment. She didn't expect Mary to be so cunning and record her verbal notice.
"Second, TG Company has grown from $14 million to $400 million in assets. Even after deducting sixty percent of the debt, we still have $150 million," Mary continued to press, "Turning $14 million into $150 million, not including the profits taken, and how dare you say the company hasn't grown or made money? Third, you're not the president yet. You'd better sit back in your vice manager's seat."
With that, Mary walked up to Jane and unceremoniously flipped the chair, almost sending Jane flying.
Jane staggered and fumed, "Mary, don't go too far!"
"It's not me going too far, but you all being too much," Mary stood in her place, scanning Jane and the others. "Over the years, It's widely known that how I've done and how the company has fared. If you don't like me and want to oust me, I won't bother arguing. But remember, the TG Company would be a huge loss without my lead. That's all I have to say. I support myself in today's vote. You can fire me now."
Mary made her stance clear and decisive.
The dozen or so board members and shareholders were taken aback. They knew Mary had worked hard and achieved much, but they also knew the prevailing trend.
The Smith Clan increasingly disliked Mary, so with Jane as a replacement, they decided to abandon Mary.
"Mary, stop talking nonsense! Right now, you're out of funds and orders, and the company is on the brink of survival." Jane steadied herself and then pulled out a contract, slamming it down. "And I have a $140 million contract with The Howard. If I become the president of TG Company, I can immediately revive the company. How can you compare with me? Have you ever signed a contract of this magnitude in all these years? Your contracts over the past three years don't even add up to this one, do they?" Jane swayed her hips and stood in front of Mary, saying domineeringly, "Mary, you're outdated. Get lost."
Once Jane's speech landed, the room erupted, and everyone picked up the contract copies to examine.
Everyone was excited. "$140 million? A contract... And with The Howard? With a thirty percent advance payment... And with The Howard? With a thirty percent advance payment... And collaborating with The Howard can expand into overseas markets, attracting a lot of venture capital... Jane is amazing, so capable, ten times better than Mary..."
They could fire Mary without harming the company and ensure their profits. It was a win-win situation.
Mary's face turned pale. She had anticipated the impact of a $140 million contract but hadn't expected the Smith Corporation's members to be so profit-driven.
Jane was very pleased with the situation and suddenly shouted, "Now, I order you all to vote to fire Mary."
The dozen people immediately responded, ready to vote Mary out.
"Wait a minute!" At this moment, the conference room door was pushed open, and James walked in, slamming something onto the table. "This is a $1.4 billion contract from the Howard Group... This is the production rights for Bashful Flower Beauty Cream in the South China region... This is a $700 million low-interest loan from Hundred Flowers Bank..."
James placed the contracts and checks one by one in front of Jane and the board members and shareholders. "I have only one condition—Mary continues as president."
Then he looked around and asked, "I've said my piece. Who's in favor, and who's against?"
