Chapter 329 Kicked Away
Maximilian died, he was killed by Lancelot in one move.
If they hadn't seen it with their own eyes, neither Mia nor James would've bought it.
Maximilian, number ten on the assassin list and a guy who could take on a hundred men, was reduced to a lifeless heap in a flash.
James was glad to have one less threat to deal with, but he couldn't help being blown away by Lancelot's insane skills.
The scene was quickly cleaned up, and James didn't bother Lancelot any further. After a few small talks, he left Storm Pavilion with Mia.
As soon as James returned to JZL Medical Clinic, he received a message from Richard: [Maximilian tried to take out Lancelot, and Carter's guys didn't make it out alive.]
This meant that neither the morning's events nor the evening's would have anything to do with James.
Maximilian had taken the blame.
James was momentarily stunned, then realized that this was Lancelot giving the Carter Family some respect and also protecting James from being held accountable by the Elder Council.
Although James didn't care about the Mystic Alliance Elder Council's attitude, he still felt a bit grateful to Lancelot.
The turmoil involving Zachary and Maximilian had come to an end, but for James, the danger had not yet passed.
Although Olivia had once again surrounded Bryan, she ended up missing him, and several of her strong fighters fell into a trap and were killed.
For now, Olivia couldn't pinpoint Bryan's location and could only wait patiently while treating her patients.
On the morning of the third day after Maximilian's death, James had just finished treating a patient when he received a call from Kelsey. "James, did you know about the personnel changes at TG Company?"
James was slightly taken aback. "Personnel changes? What happened? Did Mary fire someone?"
It was only then that James realized he had been so busy these past few days that he hadn't contacted Mary, and Mary had only sent holiday greetings to him.
"No, Mary was fired," Kelsey explained the situation to James. "Amanda used the whole mess with you and Jane to kick Mary out and bump Jane up. An hour ago, Jane's secretary showed up with a contract to hash out the details. I pressed him a bit since he was repping Jane. Turns out Mary's been out of work for days now. Didn't she mention it to you?"
James shook his head, "No, I've been busy these past few days and didn't notice anything unusual. You know Mary—she's not the type to spill her guts."
Kelsey asked, "James, what should we do now? Jane is using her power to bully people, and Amanda is using her age to oppress others. Let's teach them a lesson."
James smirked, "Didn't we tweak the contract already? If we bail, it's just a hundred bucks, but if TG screws up, they owe us a million. Just tell TG you'll only work with Mary. If Jane tries to take over, we walk."
Kelsey laughed, "Got it."
After Kelsey hung up, Sarah and Patrick also called to ask about the change in TG Company's president.
James directly told them to terminate the contract, ensuring Jane wouldn't benefit.
Then, James checked the time and asked Samuel to take him to Peach Blossom No.1.
James strolled into the hall casually and spotted Melissa on her knees, scrubbing the tiles. He asked, "Melissa, just mop it. Why're you down there? You're gonna wreck your knees."
While speaking, James helped Melissa up, "Stop scrubbing."
Melissa was delighted to see James but then waved her hand. "Never mind, I can handle it."
"What the hell are you doing here?" Before James could say a word, Addison stormed out, yelling at him. "Mary got canned because of you hitting Jane. Even Kaitlyn and I got dragged into it, and the whole Smith family's a mess because of you. And now you waltz in here acting like you run the place? You've got no say in this house, got it? We're not done talking about Mary getting fired!"
Addison shot James a death glare, like she wanted to rip him to shreds.
"You've screwed everything up. You owe us an explanation, and no matter what, you're handing over Peach Blossom No. 1 to Mary as compensation," she snapped, as unreasonable as ever. "Do it, or you'll never see her again."
"Addison, stop being unreasonable," James didn't want to argue with her. "Where's Mary?"
"Hand over Peach Blossom No.1 first, then we'll talk about Mary," Addison raised her chin. "Will you compensate Mary or not?"
"James, Mary is in the backyard," At this moment, Charles came down the stairs holding a vase and nodded slightly at James. "Go find her."
James nodded, "Thank you, Charles!"
"Halt, you're not going anywhere!" Addison blocked James and shouted, "Hand over the Peach Blossom No.1 first, or you can't see Mary."
James's eyes turned cold, "What does Amanda oppressing you have to do with me?"
"If you hadn't hit someone, would we be in this mess?" Addison shot back, glaring. "And it's not for me—it's for Mary! You claim to care about her so much, but you can't even cough up one villa? Or is Peach Blossom No. 1 not even yours? Did you just rent it to put on some big act and fool us all?"
Addison assumed she had found the truth. "Otherwise, why can't you transfer it to Mary?"
"Stop talking nonsense," James impatiently pushed Addison aside. "I'm going to find Mary."
Addison was about to blow up again, but Charles stepped in and held her back. "Let James see Mary first. Maybe he can fix the president thing," he said, clearly at his wit's end with her.
As James walked away, Addison didn't hesitate—she slapped Charles hard. "Useless," she spat.
Charles just covered his face and stayed quiet.
"What the hell are you staring at? Get back to work!" Addison snapped at Melissa, her glare sharp. "Who said you could chat on the job? Did I tell you to stand around and mop? Don't want your paycheck? Then get the hell out if you're not gonna work!"
Addison had comfirmed that Peach Blossom No.1 had little to do with James, and even if it did, James now owed the Smith Family an explanation, so he wouldn't dare to challenge her.
Melissa lowered her head and knelt down to scrub the floor, accidentally splashing water on Addison.
Addison immediately slapped Melissa and shouted, "Bitch, unsatisfied with me? How dare you, you lowly servant!"
Addison kicked over the water basin, spilling water all over the floor. "Clean it up, or you won't get to eat..."
Before she could finish her sentence, James returned and kicked Addison away.
