Chapter 203 Practice Again and You'll Be Ruined

James had no idea why Richard wanted to see him, but he figured, what the heck, and agreed to go the next day.

James knew pretty much all the big-shot families, except for Jordan and Richard. He'd met everyone else.

So, when he got the chance to meet Richard, he wasn't gonna let it slide.

Early the next morning, before the sun even thought about coming up, Bruce rolled up to pick up James.

"Bruce, why does Mr. Davis wanna see me?" James asked, all curious, on the way. "Is he sick or something? Or is he trying to settle things for Nathaniel?"

"I think Mr. Davis wants you to treat him. His old leg injury's flaring up again. It's so bad he can't walk and has been stuck in a wheelchair lately," Bruce said, straight up. "But he didn't spill the exact reason. He just knows about our beef with you and said you're interesting and wants to meet you."

"I can't read Mr. Davis's mind, but I can tell you, it's not about getting back at you for Nathaniel. Mr. Davis is tough but fair. He always hopes Nathaniel will get his act together."

"Besides, I was the one who busted up Nathaniel, not you. If Mr. Davis wants to blame someone, it's me."

Seeing that Bruce genuinely didn't know, James nodded and let it go. He'd find out Richard's deal soon enough.

In less than half an hour, they pulled up to the Mystic Alliance estate, packed with dozens of fancy villas.

The folks here weren't as high and mighty as those in Spring Mansion, but they were still big names in the Mystic Alliance. At the entrance, a bunch of young people were practicing martial arts.

Hearing the shouts and sounds of fighting, James felt like he had stepped into a martial arts flick, another dangerous world.

James was blown away. He never thought bustling Rosewood City had such a hidden side.

The car pulled off at Richard's villa, which had a killer view, they could see Cloud Top Mountain from any spot.

"James, this way, please," Bruce said, nodding to the guards at the entrance and then leading James to the east wingde of the villa.

Soon, they arrived at a bamboo grove, lush and green, with a fresh bamboo scent.

It was a sweet spot.

James followed Bruce into the grove and suddenly saw a familiar figure practicing martial arts with serious energy, surrounded by four or five onlookers.

Three people were gathered around a wheelchair.

An elderly man, about sixty, tall with long limbs and a dark red face, sat in the wheelchair.

His calm vibe made it clear he was packing some serious strength.

James had done his homework, so he quickly figured out this was Richard.

The top martial artist in Rosewood City and the city's guardian, worshipped by tons of people with thousands of students.

Of course, this wasn't just luck. Word was, he had over eighty scars on his body, all from real fights.

In the nastiest brawl, he had his legs and an arm busted in the ring but still managed to take out his opponent with one hand and his teeth.

Even if someone's martial arts weren't top-notch at first, they'd become a beast after so many life-and-death battles.

Despite being so badass, Richard had every right to join the Mystic Alliance and train in even more advanced martial arts, but he chose to stick around Rosewood City.

He was all about keeping the city safe, earning him mad respect from everyone.

Sensing James's stare, Richard turned slightly and locked eyes with him.

A powerful vibe instantly weighed down on James.

It was thick and heavy, yet calm and serene, like a vast ocean.

It felt like it controlled all the energy between heaven and earth, making James feel like he was in a stormy sea.

This was Richard's world of life and death, and James was just a tiny speck in it.

James was shocked, but at the same time, an unprecedented excitement surged through him, filling his entire being.

Such a powerful opponent was someone he had never encountered before.

The shock flashed through his mind, but instead of backing down, James stood firm, his aura clashing fiercely.

The thick, overwhelming vibe was torn apart by James, no longer messing with his state of mind.

Richard was slightly surprised, then his gaze softened, and he pulled back his pressure.

James also smiled and retracted his aura.

At that moment, the girl practicing martial arts let out a shout and turned around, revealing her face to James.

He was totally surprised; it was none other than Riley.

James never expected that Riley had such deep connections, not only being tight with Brandon but also getting personal guidance from Richard.

Riley didn't notice James's presence and kept focusing on her martial arts.

James believed that Riley's punch could probably take down a bull.

She practiced for a full fifteen minutes, and at the end, she punched a bamboo stalk as thick as a bowl.

With a crisp sound, the bamboo split three or four feet upwards, and the leaves exploded.

Then, they floated down.

Before they could hit the ground, Riley spun, and the leaves gathered again, crashing into another bamboo stalk.

The second bamboo didn't break but was covered in countless scars.

It was seriously impressive.

Bruce and the other spectators nodded in approval of Riley's performance.

"Grandpa Richard, how did I do? Am I at least half as good as you?"

Riley was super pleased and ran to Richard, waiting for his feedback, showing their close relationship.

Before Richard could respond, James let out a sigh.

Although it was faint, it instantly caught Richard and the others' attention.

Riley's face turned cold, and she looked at James.

Seeing the familiar face, Riley was first stunned, then her face darkened. "James, why are you sighing? Do you even get it?"

At Brandon's house, Riley had felt embarrassed when James dismissed her. When she decided to follow James, he quickly bailed.

It felt like he was rejecting her.

This made Riley, who was always the center of attention, super mad at James.

If Brandon didn't need James for treatment, Riley would have rushed to JZL Medical Clinic to beat him up and force him to be her buddy.

Seeing James here again and his indifferent expression, Riley was instantly triggered.

Seeing Riley's fierce look, James quickly avoided her murderous gaze, not daring to speak.

"If you don't get it, keep your head down." Seeing James stay silent, Riley snorted, her face full of disdain. "I hate people who seek attention the most."

She came from a prominent family and was used to dealing with the powerful, so she was naturally unkind to James, who didn't give her face.

"You've been practising wrong," James said indifferently. "Your legs will soon be as useless as Mr. Davis's."
