Chapter 126 Was I Considered a Man Then

Thomas moved his right cheek closer.

James, without hesitation, slapped him again, sending Thomas flying several feet away.

His face was swollen.

'What the hell?' Stacy and Harmony both looked puzzled.

It was devastating. Something that seemed impossible had happened today!

They thought, 'Is this still the Thomas who ruled both the underworld and the legitimate world? Is this still the Thomas who would take money from anyone passing by?'

Stacy and Harmony couldn't believe that the usually arrogant Thomas was now as obedient as a lamb.

And he even offered his right cheek after being slapped on the left.

Stacy thought, 'Who exactly is this, James? How did he manage to make Thomas so submissive?'

Mary also looked at James with a complex expression. She didn't expect him to grow to the point where he could easily trample Thomas, but thinking of Olivia, she showed a hint of mockery.

James slapped Thomas four more times, making his mouth bleed.

James shouted, "Weren't you going to teach me a lesson? Weren't you going to make me respect the law? Teach me now. I promise I won't fight back. Come on."

Thomas hung his head low, fearful like a cow awaiting slaughter.

Teach James?

Could he?

Would he dare?

"Scared?" James gently patted Thomas's face. "You really disappointed me. This shows you're just a bully who picks on the weak. The last time I gave you two slaps, you didn't learn your lesson. Today, you come to support Stacy again. You really have a death wish."

James's words were cruel and merciless. "It seems I need to strip you of your uniform and send you to prison to reflect."

"Mr. Williams, I'm sorry." Thomas pleaded. "I promise I'll never do it again. Please give me a chance."

He kowtowed to James with a thud, giving up even his last shred of dignity.

If he didn't obtain James's forgiveness, he feared that he would end up like Tommy, dead without a clear reason.

Stacy and Harmony were extremely anxious. They thought, 'Who exactly is this James? How did he make Thomas so scared?'

Then, Stacy took out her phone and quickly sent a message.

If Thomas couldn't handle James, she would find a bigger backer.

She didn't believe that an unknown person could turn the world upside down.

"You realize your mistake. Fine, I'll give you a chance." James kicked Thomas to the ground. "Take your people and shut down this hospital for me."

"Who gave you the authority? You're really full of yourself." Just then, a contemptuous yet loud voice came from the back of the crowd. "Who do you think you are?"

Stacy called out, "Mr. Thompson!"

Hearing this voice, Stacy's serious face instantly lit up. She quickly turned to greet a group of young men and women.

Stacy said, "Mr. Thompson, it's good that you're here. Someone has been running wild, hurting people, and he even wants to shut down the hospital. I need you to stand up for me."

A young man with a head full of white hair appeared. He was wearing pointed shoes and slim trousers, exuding a British style. He was chewing betel nuts as he approached, accompanied by a dozen companions.

Harmony and the others exclaimed in unison, "Mr. Thompson."

The white-haired young man rubbed Harmony's face and then kicked Thomas aside. "Useless."

Thomas retreated in shame. Usually domineering, he now realized that he was nothing and couldn't afford to offend anyone.

But he didn't leave. He stepped aside to see which side would prevail so he could align himself accordingly.

Stacy said, "Little punk, let me tell you. This is Mr. Thompson, Mr. Andrew's nephew, Joel Thompson."

With her support's arrival, Stacy's confidence was boosted again. She pointed at James arrogantly and said,  "He is also a major shareholder of this hospital. If you compete with us, you are competing with Mr. Thompson. What qualifications and abilities do you have to compete with the Thompson family?"

Stacy smugly said, "Aren't you going to kneel and beg for mercy?"

Harmony and the others also raised their pretty faces, feeling it was time to vent their anger.

In their view, no matter how strong or well-connected James was, facing one of the six major families, the Thompson family, he would be utterly defeated.

They had seen several powerful, rich kids from other places crushed by Joel miserably.

Thomas also shook his head, feeling that James would have to admit defeat this time.

Although James and Scott were friends, Joel and Andrew were even closer as uncle and nephew.

"Mr. Thompson?" James looked at Stacy and let out a cold laugh. "He's a major shareholder and your backer?"

Stacy said, "That's right. Are you scared? If you're scared, kneel, lick my shoes clean, break the foot that kicked me, and compensate me with one million dollars. I might ask Mr. Thompson to spare your life."

Stacy stared at James with a face full of contempt. "Otherwise, you and your father will all be in trouble."

"James, the Thompson family is not to be messed with." Mary gently pulled James and said, "Why don't you ask Olivia to mediate?"

She didn't want to mention Olivia, but now that they were involved with the Thompson family and the other side had many people, things had become complicated.

If not handled well, not only would James suffer, but Virgil would also be affected.

James responded with a faint smile. "Don't worry, they're all just jesters on the stage."

Mary wrinkled her brows slightly, finding James's arrogance a bit too much, but she decided not to argue further.

"Jesters?"

"Who gave you the audacity to utter such words? Do you even know who we are?"

"We're all worth over a hundred million. How dare you call us clowns?"

A group of young brats circled, their scornful gazes fixed on James, their smiles insincere.

"You've stirred up a hornet's nest today. Brace yourself for the repercussions. We might not take your life, but we'll definitely make you pay dearly."

It was clear that this group had already pegged James and Mary as their prey, ready for the taking.

Several attractive female companions even flicked their wrists to show off their Vacheron Constantin watches, looking at James with disdain. Ordinary people are just that: ordinary. Challenging the privileged second generation was a battle they were unlikely to win.

Before James could speak, Joel also smiled and approached, looking at James with a playful and contemptuous expression.

Joel asked, "Are you the troublemaker?"

Stacy replied, "That's right, Mr. Thompson. It's him!"

At this moment, Stacy provocatively moved in front of James again, raising an eyebrow and leaning her face in close. She sneered, "Jerk, you were so full of yourself when you kicked me. What happened to that confidence now? Come on. I'm deliberately offering myself for you to hit. Show some guts, and hit me again. If you hit, then you're brave. If you don't, then you're not a man."

With Joel backing her up, Stacy felt she had James cornered.

Facing Stacy's arrogant provocation, James swung his arm and slapped her twice without hesitation.

The crisp sound echoed, and Stacy staggered back, covering her face, filled with shock and anger.

She never expected James to be so brazen.

James smiled faintly. "Am I a man now?"
