Chapter 79 The True Movers and Shakers

As the police car drove away from JZL Medical Hall, Scott still hadn't fully processed what had happened.

He stared intently at the bullet in his hand, his eyes burning with an indescribable intensity.

It was too shocking, too powerful, too extraordinary.

Scott, who had originally looked down on James, found himself at a loss for words to describe his feelings. His disdain had turned into admiration.

"Scott, what do you think of James?" David, whose spirits had improved, leaned against the car, holding a thermos filled with coffee, and asked.

He had gotten into the car a step ahead, so amidst the roar of the renovation, he hadn't heard the sound of James firing his gun.

"I'm not as good as him," Scott replied.

Scott replied decisively, snapping out of his daze. "You're not as good as him either, and even Matthew Miller isn't as good as him. His medical skills are top-notch, and his martial arts are equally impressive."

His eyes sparkled. "Given time, we won't be able to match him."

David grew interested. "Oh, it's rare for you to praise someone. Aren't you overestimating him?"

"Look at this," Scott said, opening his palm to reveal the bullet, then recounting the shocking scene.

David's smile faltered slightly. "You said he caught a bullet."

"That's right, and at close range." Scott nodded. "In all of Rosewood City, only Richard Davis could do that. I certainly can't. Merely considering him as a casual acquaintance would be a significant loss for the Miller family, not to mention the detrimental effects of becoming adversaries with him. I can't even imagine his achievements in ten years."

With a playful expression, Scott added, "David, we must make sure to befriend someone like him."

"To Stellar Haven!" David commanded decisively. "To see Brandon!"

As the Miller brothers headed to Brandon's place, Jared and his friends were gathered in the backyard, chatting over tea.

"James, you've really made it this time," Jared said, giving a thumbs-up as he looked at the Audi David had left behind, along with its prestigious license plate. "From now on, you can walk around Rosewood City with your head held high."

Jonathan laughed as well. "People say doctors have great connections. I didn't understand it before, but now I do."

James smiled calmly. "It's just a bit of a connection. You're blowing it out of proportion."

"James, you really don't know the depth of the Miller family, do you?" Samuel chimed in, bringing over a pot of tea. "Those are the Miller brothers we're talking about."

"I've seen them on TV, but I don't really know their background," James replied honestly. He had been in Rosewood City for over a decade, but his social circle was at the very bottom. A month ago, Brian was someone he looked up to. He once thought that Brian's starting point was the pinnacle of his own life's efforts.

"Rosewood City has a population of twenty million, with countless wealthy and powerful individuals. We may seem impressive, but we don't really make it to the big stage." Jared lifted a cup of coffee and laughed. "The real movers and shakers are just the wealthy."

Jonathan sighed. "Yes, whether in terms of connections or wealth, we can't compete with them. It takes at least three generations to build a solid foundation."

James looked up, "The real movers and shakers. Who are they?"

Samuel took over the conversation with a smile. "The famous people of Rosewood City, some of whom are your old friends. The wealthy men are Raymond, Ralph Ortiz, and Andrew Thompson. They have a lot of money, with companies all over the country and personal fortunes in the billions."

Samuel said, "For example, Raymond is not only an antique tycoon but also owns several mines, including jade and gold mines. Ralph, the founder of Hundred Flowers Bank, established the first private bank in Rosewood City, known as the fifth largest bank."

"Don't be fooled by BH Bank's fame. Compared to Hundred Flowers Bank, it's just a small bank," Samuel continued. "And Andrew, everyone knows him, the internet tycoon. They make millions of dollars as easily as we drink water."

James was slightly taken aback and then laughed. "Hearing you all talk like this, I guess I won't have to hold back when charging the Ortiz family for medical fees."

Jonathan and the others burst into laughter, filling JZL Medical Hall with a cheerful atmosphere.

"Who are the others?"

James curiously followed up, "Aaron?"

Jared nodded. "That's right. One is Aaron, chairman of SH Group and the underground emperor of Rosewood City, maintaining the dark order. The other tiger is Richard."

Stephen joined in the conversation. "He's the president of the Rosewood City Martial Arts Association, a martial arts advisor at the police academy, and a master of the profound realm with countless disciples."

James's eyes showed a hint of interest. A master of the profound realm that he had never heard of before. He made a mental note to ask about it if he had ever met Richard and to see what level he was at.

"The last one refers to the Miller family," Jonathan said, sitting up. "The whole family are top scholars, referred to as the top three tycoons of the city. The three city tycoons refer to Mr. David's grandfather, father, and elder brother, all of whom have been the richest men in Rosewood City. Although the two elders have long retired, Brandon remains the hidden wealthiest man, wielding significant influence over the city's upper echelons. Matthew, the eldest brother, surpassed his predecessors and was transferred to another city a few years ago to take on greater responsibilities. As for the other family members, they hold countless positions of power."

He smiled and added, "So, James, winning the friendship of the Miller brothers means you can walk around with your head held high."

"I understand." James nodded, a sudden understanding dawning on him, followed by a sigh. "Indeed formidable."

The gap between himself and the Miller family was not just a matter of class; it was a chasm of tens of thousands of miles.

Samuel poured James a cup of hot tea and smiled. "James, I firmly believe that one day you'll reach the heights of the Miller family."

"Let's not think about such distant matters for now. My current goal is to renovate JZL Medical Hall as soon as possible," James said with a straightforward smile. "Make more money, make a few good friends, and treat a few more patients, and I'll be satisfied."

Having experienced the ups and downs of life for over a decade, James had long abandoned unrealistic dreams and focused on taking each step of his life steadily.

Jared and the others nodded silently. In a bustling city, someone like James, who remained humble and patient, was bound to soar one day.

"By the way, James, today JZL Medical Hall was in chaos, and Joseph has contributed greatly,'" Daniel said, eager to stir up trouble. "Wouldn't it be a shame if we didn't repay him properly?"

"That scoundrel is causing trouble for us," Stephen said, slapping the table. "James, leave it to me. I'll have someone wait near his company, and when he's alone, we'll put a sack over his head and give him a good beating."

Jonathan suggested, "And castrate him while we're at it."

Jared, out of habit, glanced at the excavator. "Or we could just bury him in the playground?"

"Don't worry, I'll handle this small matter myself," James said, a cold glint in his eyes. "He schemed against me despicably, so I'll cripple him openly and justly. Taylor, help me find something," he said, taking out his phone and making a call.
