Chapter 246 Giving Him a Chance to Suck Up

Last night was a mess, but when James woke up the next morning, everything was calm.

After breakfast, James got to work. Even though he had nearly ten billion dollars, he still worked hard, earning five and twenty dollars at a time.

But things had changed for him. When he opened the clinic door, he saw Jared and his crew bustling around the street.

Familiar faces and trucks loaded with furniture were everywhere around JZL Medical Clinic, Bright Heart Hall Clinic, and the nearby houses.

James was taken aback, "What's going on?"

"Moving," Nathaniel, the first to come over with a cane, sweating like crazy, pointed to the supermarket next to JZL Medical Clinic and said, "James, I spent three million dollars to buy that small supermarket and the suite on the second floor."

"I'm planning to renovate it and live there," he said, grinning. "We're gonna be neighbors."

"You jerk, you didn't even call me, so I had to buy a shop at the end of the street," Sebastian showed up with his crew, clearly annoyed with Nathaniel. "Luckily, the shop is big enough, three times the size of your small supermarket. With a little renovation, it can fit dozens of people."

Sebastian smirked, "Then I can set up a big food stall and have James come over for drinks every day."

"You get drunk and blame me for not calling you?" Nathaniel shot back, "Check your phone, I called at least ten times."

"The old guy is too bad, raising the price on the spot," Stephen appeared, shaking his head. "A thousandsquare feet shop, asking for three million dollars, I really wanted to punch him."

"Jared is still sneaky. During the renovation, he quietly bought the small inn next to JZL Medical Clinic, with a dozen rooms and a storefront, for only four million dollars," Jacob showed up, shaking his head. "I asked him to share half with me, but he refused. The world is going downhill."

Before long, Jonathan and Troy also showed up, all with slight smiles on their faces.

James quickly figured out what was happening. Sebastian and the others wanted to be his neighbors, so they bought all the shops near JZL Medical Clinic and Bright Heart Hall Clinic.

Overnight, he had a dozen familiar neighbors.

They even changed the street name to Main Street.

James was both amused and exasperated. "Are you guys out of your minds? You have mansions but come here to be neighbors?"

"No mansion is as comfortable as here," Jared's loud voice came from outside. "There are not only medical experts but also a bunch of old friends. It's the best place to live."

"That's right, it's more comfortable here than going to clubs for fun," Stephen and the others chimed in. "Sweeping the floor, drinking tea, enjoying the breeze, how pleasant."

They came here to live not only to get closer to James but also to truly enjoy the feeling of being together.

Doing chores, serving patients, practicing martial arts, it was much more fulfilling than their usual lives.

Knowing their personalities, James smiled and shook his head, waving them away to prepare for today's patients.

As James started his new day, Sarah also began her work in Villa No. 3.

She was holding a video conference on her phone.

Halfway through her meeting, Sarah heard the door slam open, and her assistant rushed in, looking panicked.

"What's wrong with you? Didn't I tell you not to disturb me?" Sarah snapped, "Can't you see I'm in a meeting?"

"Miss Howard, something's wrong! Mr. Howard is in trouble!" the assistant shouted. "He's got chest pain, the medicine didn't work, he's biting his lip in pain, and pressing a cup against his chest."

"Chest pain? Isn't he always having headaches? How did it turn into chest pain?" Sarah felt like she'd been hit by a truck. Her vision went black, and she almost fainted.

"Miss Howard! Miss Howard!" The assistant panicked and quickly supported her.

"Call Brooke, now!" Sarah pushed the assistant away and rushed to Simon's room.

When she got there, she saw Simon, who used to be so proud, now curled up on the floor like a scared lamb, trembling.

He was in so much pain that his face had turned blue, and he couldn't even speak. The two family doctors were making it worse with their fumbling.

"Dad, what's wrong with you?" Sarah rushed over, her face full of worry. "What's wrong?"

Simon managed to squeeze out a sentence, then couldn't speak anymore, just kept trembling and clutching his chest. "It feels like a knife in my heart."

He looked like he'd been stabbed.

"What the hell is wrong with my dad?" Sarah turned to the two family doctors and shouted, "How did it suddenly get this bad?"

"Miss Howard, we don't know either," the family doctors were sweating bullets. "Mr. Howard was fine just now, but after taking the medicine, he suddenly fainted."

Sarah shouted, "Is there something wrong with the medicine?"

The family doctors quickly responded, "The medicine is what Mr. Howard has always taken, all good for relieving headaches, there shouldn't be any problem."

They knew they had to explain clearly, or they might be accused of murder, which would be a huge problem.

"Then why is he like this?" Sarah saw Simon getting worse, her face full of panic. "Call Brooke, now."

There were many doctors, but the Howard family only trusted Brooke.

The assistant ran in and shouted, "Miss Howard, Mr. Brooke and his team are here."

Sarah was overjoyed, "Quick, get them in here."

Soon, a dozen foreigners walked into the room and skillfully started treating Simon.

After a few injections, Simon's condition eased. He let go of his chest, and most of the pain dissipated, though his clothes were torn. It was clear how much pain he had endured just now.

Seeing Simon's condition improve, Sarah finally relaxed.

James had once said, "His suffering will be legendary. By day three, chest pain; by day five, coughing blood; by day seven, paralyzed; by day ten, brain hemorrhage; dead in two weeks.."

As Brooke and his team were busy treating Simon, Sarah, pacing outside the door, suddenly remembered what James had said that day.

At the time, she thought James was just cursing, but now Simon really had chest pain.

Even though she thought James was unreliable and it might be a coincidence, considering Simon's safety and James's performance in saving the little girl, she thought of giving James a chance.

After all, it's better to be safe than sorry.

"Alexa Martinez, call Mary," Sarah stopped, lifted her delicate chin, and looked coldly at Alexa. "Tell her, for her sake, I'll give James a chance to curry favor with the Howard family."
