Chapter 404 Sorry, I Got into Trouble
Coffee splashed everywhere.
Brown liquid dripped down from Aurelia's head, soaking her eyebrows, smudging her makeup, and drenching her clothes.
Aurelia instantly turned into a drenched mess, leaving everyone around her stunned.
Even Aurelia herself was taken aback, seemingly not expecting James to be so audacious.
She was truly furious. After all, she was the vice president of the Wolf Business Association. While it might not have the same influence as the Mystic Alliance, she was still the underground queen of Glowing Oasis, backed by The Gonzalez Family.
For years, she had been riding high in Glowing Oasis, with no one daring to show her any disrespect. But today, James had unceremoniously dumped coffee on her.
"Ms. Kingsley, you should feel honored to be the one I'm giving a hard time." James tossed the empty coffee cup onto the table. "Are you satisfied now?"
"Bastard!" Seeing James so arrogant, Dean Huang and the others were furious and rushed forward to confront him.
James calmly took a few steps back. "What? You want to fight? There are cameras everywhere here. Touch me, and the consequences will be severe."
Fighting in public would bring everything to light, and with Gerald backing him, James was naturally unafraid.
The director roared, "What consequences could there be for hitting a doctor like you?"
James remained unfazed. "Is that so? Then go ahead."
"Very well." Aurelia waved her hand to stop the director and the others. Being publicly doused with coffee, especially coffee that had been drunk, was a humiliation she had never experienced before.
But unlike the others, she didn't make a scene.
Instead, after her initial anger, she regained her composure. She pulled out a tissue to wipe the coffee from her face and said, "James, I have to admit, you have guts. No wonder you dared to trouble Isla."
She spoke calmly, "Fine, I'll take the loss today. But let me remind you, from now on, you are an enemy of the Wolf Club."
James shrugged. "I'm honored."
Aurelia stood up from the sofa and smiled. "Enjoy your last coffee. You might not get another chance to drink coffee after you leave this place."
Her smile was serene, but her words carried a deadly threat.
James remained indifferent. "Are you threatening me?"
"Yes, I am." Aurelia looked at James with a playful smile, her red lips parting slightly. "No matter your background or who supports you, once you step out of this door, I'll find a way to kill you."
James spread his hands. "I'm just a nobody. Ms. Kingsley, do you really want to go all out against me?"
Aurelia gave a delicate smile. "Goodbye."
With that, she and her group left decisively.
"Notify everyone: James is to be killed on sight!" She added James to the death list, determined not to let him live past twenty-four hours.
James watched her back with a smile. The fact that she could endure such humiliation showed she had some depth, but she still didn't impress him.
As Aurelia and her group disappeared, Mary returned from the restroom and tilted her head slightly. "Do you know who she is?"
James smiled faintly. "Who cares? If she crosses my line, I'll take her down."
"Don't underestimate her." Mary flicked her hair. "Her name is Aurelia, one of the seven wolves of the Wolf Club. She's not only a strategist but also a sniper."
"She doesn't have many kills, but the ones she does have are significant."
James raised an eyebrow. "You seem to know her well."
Mary nodded. "The Wolf Club is backed by The Gonzalez Family, and Aurelia is tight with Isla. When Micah targeted me, I did my homework on them."
She continued, "By the way, she's got half Lumarian blood. Rumor has it her biological father is a renowned healer from Lumaria, with noble blood and deep connections there."
"The Wolf Club's trade with Lumaria is almost entirely handled by Aurelia."
"So, after provoking her today, you should be extra careful. You don't want to get sniped."
Although Mary knew James was skilled in martial arts, she was also aware of the dangers of hidden threats, so she gave him a warning.
James squinted slightly. "She's connected to Lumaria too?"
He thought of the Blood Medical Sect's undead. Aurelia's father was also a Lumarian healer. Could there be a connection?
"Just keep a close eye on her." Mary advised James while picking up her handbag to leave. "Alright, I won't be staying for lunch. There's something I need to handle at the branch office."
"And I need to prepare for whatever tricks Micah might pull after six."
Even though she had told Micah to bring it on, it didn't mean she wasn't concerned. She needed to make arrangements to avoid being caught off guard.
James grabbed Mary's hand. "Come on, you asked me here for coffee, and now you're leaving already? That's not fair."
"You have to stay and have lunch with me."
He looked at Mary with puppy-dog eyes. "Otherwise, my trip here would be wasted. No romantic lunch, and I gained an enemy."
"You're worth billions, can't you stop being so childish?" Mary glared at James. "There will be plenty of opportunities to have lunch after I'm done with my work. If you need company, call Olivia. I approve of your date today."
James was exasperated. "Ms. Smith, you're such a buzzkill. I was all set, and now you're leaving."
"Shut up!" Mary pinched James. "Can you watch your language?"
James held her hand. "I don't care. I'm not letting go. If we don't have lunch, at least give me a kiss!"
Mary's face turned red, and she almost kicked James. "Why are you being so cheesy?"
"You said it yourself, women love bad boys." James wrapped his arm around Mary's slender waist. "Either stay for lunch or give me a good kiss."
The touch was like fine silk, cool and elastic. James's fingers slid a bit more.
Mary felt completely uncomfortable and pinched him. "Behave yourself, will you?"
James coughed. "Just say if you'll kiss me or not."
"James, how did you become like this? Olivia must have corrupted you. You're such a rogue, a big rogue."
Mary had no choice. She angrily scolded James and then pecked him on the cheek.
The next second, she quickly fled the coffee shop.
Watching Mary's rare moment of fluster, James touched his cheek and smiled. The kiss, though brief, was warm.
But before James could savor the joy, his phone rang. He put on his Bluetooth headset to answer, and soon Samantha's weak voice came through, "James, I'm sorry, I'm in trouble."
