Chapter 381 Do Not Move
Things at the Lee Manor were getting both simpler and more complicated.
This meant that Molly and her crew had infiltrated the Lee familys territory, and Clarence would inevitably clash with the Lee family to find Cordelia.
The Lee family was a wealthy and influential clan. Although they had focused solely on making money over the past few decades, their status and power were still significant, especially compared to the top five families.
Their wealth far surpassed the six richest families in Rosewood City, rivaling the Credit Stealer in Philadelphia, and they were one of the three giants of Glowing Oasis, alongside the Rivera family and the Mystic Alliance.
For Clarence, whose influence was limited to the river, challenging the Lee family was no small feat.
However, Clarence didnt dwell on it too much and prepared to return to his base to gather his forces.
No matter what, he was determined to find Cordelia.
James advised him to stay calm. Facing an enemy like Molly without an antidote or a countermeasure would be suicidal, no matter how many people he had.
He told the injured Clarence to rest and then gathered over thirty people and various herbs to prepare the Toxiclear Elixir in the hotel kitchen overnight.
With countless sorcerous poisons out there, James couldnt create a universal antidote. The Toxiclear Elixir would protect the poisoned individuals and buy them some time.
As long as he could win some time, James could save the patients.
He worked through the night, and by seven in the morning, James emerged from the kitchen with two thousand freshly made Toxiclear Elixirs.
James took fifty pills, gave Clarence a hundred, and had Nathaniel store the rest. Then he headed to Marys room.
Mia welcomed James inside. "Ms. Smith woke up ten minutes ago. Shes freshening up and changing clothes."
Hearing that Mary was busy, James nodded and placed fifty pills on the table.
"These are Toxiclear Elixirs. Have Mary keep them with her. Ill come back later."
He turned to leave and check on Olivia, wanting to see how she was doing and discuss their plan to visit the Lee Manor today.
Just as he reached the eighth floor, a text message came in from Gerald, who urgently wanted to meet him.
James didnt waste any time. He sent his location and then entered Olivias bedroom.
He found Olivia sleeping soundly, her hair slightly disheveled, and her starry eyes closed, clutching the blanket.
Her thin nightgown couldnt hide her delicate body and long legs, making Jamess heart race.
James didnt wake her. He gently took a blanket and covered her, wanting to let Olivia sleep a bit longer.
"Dont go."
Just as James was about to leave, a fair hand grabbed him. Olivia, like a kitten, snuggled into his arms and slightly opened her eyes.
James smiled. "Werent you sleeping? How did you know I was here?"
"I can tell your smell."
Olivia stretched her long arms and wrapped them around Jamess neck, murmuring sleepily.
"I can sense you whenever youre near."
James chuckled and stroked her pretty face. "Your sixth sense is terrifying."
Olivias eyes remained half-closed, her tone tinged with a hint of resentment. "When she shows up, you still leave me behind. And you didn't come back all night, not even calling."
"Did you have a romantic night with her?"
As she spoke, Olivias warm and enticing lips bit Jamess ear.
Like pouring hot oil on dry wood, the fire within James was instantly ignited.
He leaned down and flipped Olivias soft body over, pressing her down. Her body was incredibly supple, almost boneless.
But thinking of Marys cold gaze, James suppressed his desire, released Olivia, and walked to the sofa to pour a glass of water.
"There was no romantic night."
James drank the warm water to quell his desire. "I ran into Clarence by the river. He was injured by Mollys henchman, Dark Shadow."
"Dark Shadow got wind of his daughter's birthday. Clarence refused to hand her over, and Dark Shadow wiped out his whole family."
"His wife, son, and several of his men were killed. His daughter was taken, and he was poisoned, barely hanging on."
"If I hadn't found him, he'd be dead by now."
James casually shifted the topic but didn't mention that Clarence's daughter was with the Lee family, to avoid alarming Olivia.
"What?" Olivia sat up abruptly, her resentment over James's lack of romance vanishing.
"Clarence's family was killed? Dark Shadow is in Glowing Oasis?"
"Does that mean Molly is here too?"
"After all, Dark Shadow and White Shadow are Molly's top henchmen."
Olivia's pretty face grew anxious. "Is my grandfather in danger?"
"She's probably here." James poured Olivia a glass of water. "But don't worry, your grandfather is safe for now."
"There are still a few days until the ceremony on the eighteenth."
"Molly has a deep hatred for the Lee family. She won't harm your grandfather casually; she'll wait for a special day to exact her revenge."
"And for Molly, simply killing your grandfather isn't satisfying. She wants the Lee family to be in turmoil, for your grandfather to beg for mercy."
James reassured her. "She won't kill your grandfather until she achieves her goal of tormenting him, so you don't need to worry too much."
James could see through Molly's intentions. A group harboring decades of hatred wouldn't easily let their opponent die.
"That's true. She emerged months ago. If she wanted to harm my grandfather, she would've come to Glowing Oasis directly, not waited until now."
Olivia took the glass but didn't drink, instead freshening up and changing into a long dress.
"By the way, can you find Dark Shadow's whereabouts?"
James smiled. "Why? Are you planning to strike first and take down Dark Shadow?"
"Why not?" Olivia twisted her delicate body, crossed her long legs, and sat on James's lap.
"Rather than being tormented by them, why not take the initiative?"
James smiled. "Since the Lee family's resources are unavailable, are you planning to use WH Group or Sky Peak Club?"
"WH Group, of course," Olivia spoke softly. "Sky Peak Club's resources can only be mobilized by you, the president. As a member, I don't have the authority."
Sky Peak Club was formed by the six richest families in Rosewood City, Olivia, and James, with the goal of defending against the city's enemies.
Its primary purpose was to protect Rosewood City's interests.
Members wouldn't interfere in each other's personal grudges.
Only James could mobilize the resources of other members. Members couldn't use each other's money or manpower.
For example, James could use Richard's people, Patrick's money, and the Miller family's resources, but Olivia couldn't ask them for help, unless facing a common enemy like Bryan.
So James smiled at Olivia. "If you need, I can ask Aaron and the others to help."
"No need." Olivia gently shook her head.
"Sky Peak Club is more for dealing with Rosewood City's enemies. Asking them to help with my family matters feels like misusing public resources."
"And fighting Dark Shadow would result in heavy casualties. I don't want Raymond and the others, who just recovered, to suffer again."
"Besides, WH Group has enough manpower to take on Dark Shadow."
Olivia's eyes sparkled with determination.
"No need to fight." James shifted, placing Olivia on the sofa.
"Dark Shadow is already my prisoner. She revealed a few hideouts but didn't disclose Molly's exact location. Let's not worry about her for now."
"Today, as we discussed yesterday, we'll go to the Lee family and find your grandfather to heal him."
James's gaze focused. "Only when your grandfather recovers will the Lee family's situation improve."
Olivia smiled softly. "I'll follow your lead."
Before she finished speaking, the door was kicked open.
Dozens of uniformed men stormed in, guns drawn.
"Don't move!"
