Chapter 106 Have You Ever Respect Me
James's kick made everyone present widen their eyes in shock.
Attacking Harry so ruthlessly had already shocked everyone present, and now, with Harry's powerful backer appearing, James still dared to kick again.
This was no longer a simple brawl but a provocation and a display of disrespect towards Tommy.
A twenty-year-old young man challenging a high-ranking, wealthy, and powerful person was no different from seeking death.
No matter what, James actions were astonishingly fearsome, tensing up the onlookers and causing Tommy's bodyguards to froze on the spot.
To dare to provoke so fiercely in such a situation, one must either be simple-minded or have a deep background, and James didn't look like the former.
Tommy's eyelids twitched rapidly.
"James, you're very arrogant." After a brief silence, Tommy stared sharply at James. "But do you know what you're doing? Do you know the consequences of your actions? James, I can responsibly tell you you're in big trouble."
Tommy didn't ask and wouldn't ask why James hurt Harry. As Harry's father, he surely knew his character and behavior.
If James hadn't been controlling Harry, he would have ordered his subordinates to hack James to death long ago.
"Really? What trouble?" James responded with an indifferent smile. "I wasn't aware that I was causing trouble. On the other hand, your son has committed a mountain of inhumane acts."
"Public assault, provoking the law, terrible influence." Tommy was on the verge of exploding. "At best, you'll rot in jail. At worst, you'll be shot dead on the spot."
He had considered directly killing James, but firing a gun in TranquilTea Haven would cause too much of a scene. Besides, he held the moral high ground at the moment and could slowly torment James.
"Before you put on a show of judging me, perhaps you should judge your son first," James replied, still as calm as ever. "See if his crimes are greater or if mine are. You have no right to point fingers."
Tommy's expression turned stormy, and he gestured commandingly. "Thomas Wilson, take him away. Teach him how to show respect to the Jones family and the law."
In his team, besides some long-time confidants, there were also four men in uniform.
As soon as he finished speaking, the four uniformed men stepped forward, took out cold handcuffs, and were about to arrest James.
"Assaulting people in public, do you have any respect for the law?" Thomas stared at James. "Take him away, and if he dares to resist, execute him on the spot."
James's sneer deepened as he looked at Thomas and asked, "Why not investigate the matter properly?"
"How I do my job is none of your business. You broke the law by hurting someone. As an enforcer of the law, it's only right for me to cuff you. If you keep whining, I'll shoot you dead." Thomas suddenly raised his voice, like an angry deity, swinging his arm and slapping his hand towards James's forehead.
This was his professional habit when dealing with suspects, slapping them to assert his authority.
At this moment, Thomas's phone vibrated, a call from the police office.
He frowned slightly but eventually answered.
Moments later, Thomas was sweating profusely, hurriedly stopping his men, and then bowing repeatedly to Tommy. "Mr. Jones, I'm sorry, we can't handle this."
He glanced at James, feeling a lingering fear, never expecting James to be Scott's friend.
"You can't handle this?" Tommy's face darkened even further. "You're the police. Why can't you handle this?"
Thomas didn't say much, just shook his head apologetically, then prepared to leave with his three subordinates.
James spoke lightly, "Who said you could leave?"
Thomas's eyelid twitched, staring at James. "Young man, what do you want?"
"You assisted the wicked, tried to cuff me, hit me, and you think you can just walk away without even a word of apology?" James retorted, slapping the table for emphasis. "Have you ever shown me any respect? Have you ever respected the law?"
With a crisp sound, Thomas screamed and fell, his cheek swelling up.
The whole place fell silent again. My God, this was too violent, too ruthless, too arrogant!
Thomas got up, very angry but helpless. "You!"
James slapped him again. "In this world, if you make a mistake, you have to admit it, and if you get punished, you have to stand at attention, don't you understand?"
Thomas's other cheek also swelled up.
He clenched his fists, wishing he could shoot James, but in the end, he could only say in a low voice, "Sorry."
He was far inferior to Scott and didn't dare to attack James.
Hearing the apology, James coldly shouted, "Get lost."
Thomas left dejectedly with his three companions.
This scene left Harry and the others in a daze, never expecting Thomas to be scared away and even slapped twice by James.
Thomas was notorious for extorting others and was one of Tommy's most capable subordinates.
This made Jennifer wonder who made that call.
Jennifer said, "Looks like I underestimated you. I didn't expect you to have some background."
Seeing Thomas and his men fleeing in disarray, Tommy glared at James and let out a scornful laugh. "I just want to tell you, no matter who is behind you, no matter who you are, if you harm my son, I will not let you go. If Thomas and his men can't handle this, I, Tommy, will take justice into my own hands today. Seize him."
He shouted to a dozen of the Jones family thugs.
A dozen fierce men were about to move when Tommy's phone rang sharply.
Three phones, one after another, like death knells.
The shrill ringing inexplicably made people shiver.
Tommy's eyelids twitched, but he finally picked up the phone. After a brief conversation, the imposing Mr. Jones's face turned darker than a stormy June sky.
After a long time, he put away his phone, took a deep breath, and stared at James, speaking with difficulty, "I misjudged."
Jennifer and Donna felt a bad omen rising; Thomas had the same helpless expression just now.
Harry also raised his head. "Dad."
Several unruly subordinates drew their guns. "Big bro, just say the word, and we'll kill him."
They could see that James had some background. Otherwise, Tommy wouldn't have this expression, but they still didn't mind killing James to vent their anger.
At worst, they would find someone to take the fall and go to jail.
Tommy remained silent, his fists clenched in suppressed fury. He was seething, resentful, wishing he could throttle James on the spot, but he knew he had to bite his tongue today.
Calls came in from Jacob, Olivia, Raymond, Patrick, and Scott - their messages were succinct and blunt, each containing just one sentence.
If anything happened to James, The Jones family would be in trouble.
Thomas also sent a message that the Watson brothers had offended James, and now one was in jail, and the other had disappeared.
Tommy was a notable figure, but compared to Olivia and the others combined, he was insignificant.
Several subordinates shouted again, "Big bro, let's do it."
Tommy shook his head. "We can't do it."
That single, simple sentence was like a thunderclap in a clear sky, leaving everyone present in shock.
