Chapter 30

Mr. Sullivan? Jared Sullivan?

Christopher and the rest knew Jared well, and at that moment, their anger vanished without a trace.

The relatives who felt offended also backed down, as everyone knew they couldn't afford to provoke Jared.

"Well..." Christopher turned his face awkwardly and addressed the dozens of relatives, "Everyone should be about done eating; let's clean up and head out."

"After all, Mr. Sullivan has given me a thirty-million-dollar project; we should give him a face."

He was finding a way to save face for himself.

Kylie also nodded repeatedly." We must give face; we must. Mr. Sullivan deals with big things; our meal here is trivial."

Dozens of the Clark family relatives hurriedly got up.

The arrogant youths standing at the entrance of the private room were smug.

"Christopher, the dessert hasn't been served yet; why leave so soon?" Just then, James looked up towards a few people by the door and said, "We are not going to give up this private room."

"And, let Jared come over and apologize."

James pointed at a chicken leg on the floor, saying, "He interrupted me eating."

The few aggressive men thought they had heard wrong and looked at James as if he were a fool.

Christopher and the others were also shocked and pale.

"James, what nonsense are you talking about?" Christopher scolded with a stern face, "Since when do you call the shots here? This is the Clark family banquet; I've got the final say."

"Also, if you want to die, die on your own, don't drag us into it."

He hurriedly said to the arrogant youth, "Sir, this is my mother-in-law's son-in-law. He speaks without thinking, so please don't take it to heart."

Stella also chided sharply, "James, I command you to apologize immediately; otherwise, forget about working on Christopher's construction site."

James ignored Christopher and just said to the arrogant youth, "Three minutes, have Jared come over and apologize; just say it's from James."

Christopher and the others were all scared pale.

"Who the hell do you think you are? Are you daring to make Mr. Sullivan say sorry?" The arrogant youth glared at James with a piercing look. "Have you lived long enough?"

He was about to go forward to teach James a lesson when a man wrapped in bandages, the trench coat youth who had a conflict at the XF Club, stepped forward.

He saw James's face and instantly shuddered with unspeakable fear. He hurriedly whispered to the arrogant youth.
James was kicking him away, breaking Stanley's fingers, and being friends with Jacob, a series of information intertwined, producing an unexpected effect.

The arrogant youth's face changed uncertainly, and he slowly led his people out of the private room.

"James, you've caused a big problem." Christopher pointed at James, disappointed. "Later, when trouble comes, you take it on yourself; don't involve us."

The rest of the Clark family relatives also glared at James.

Mary frowned slightly, wanting to scold James as before, but in the end, she chose silence.

"Mr. Sullivan, this way." Soon, footsteps were heard again at the door, and a haggard-looking Jared appeared with a dozen people.

The Clark family instinctively stood up, their hearts in their throats.

Christopher was even more eager to clear himself, saying, "Mr. Sullivan, we are not familiar with James."

What happened next shocked Christopher and the others.

"James, I'm sorry for any offense," Jared rushed to James's side to shake hands, apologizing with fear and trepidation, "The people below were ignorant and have offended you. I apologize on their behalf, hoping all displeasures can be erased."

He had someone bring a bottle of red wine and then personally filled three large cups.

"You really should learn a lesson," James spoke indifferently, "A big boss like you with no sense of grandeur."

Christopher's family was dumbfounded, not expecting James to lecture Jared like this.

What was more devastating for them was that Jared nodded humbly. "James is right; my perspective is too narrow; I should learn a lesson."

He added, "Please give me more advice in the future."

"I'll drink to express my sincerity."

Jared picked up the large glasses and drank the three cups of red wine in one go.

The arrogant youths also followed suit, drinking their wine.
In the private room, there was silence.

Stella and the others looked uncomfortable. With three cups of red wine, it was clear to everyone that Jared was truly apologizing, not just going through the motions.

This made them very uncomfortable.

Why?

James spoke lightly, "Okay, l forgive you."

"Thank you, Mr. Williams, for being generous." Jared smiled broadly, then respectfully said to James, "James, may I have your number? I have something to consult you about another day."

James didn't need to ask what he wanted to consult about; it was certainly whether he could treat his vas deferens. He took a napkin and wrote down a number.

"Thank you, thank you." Jared treasured the napkin like a precious item, folding it and tucking it into his pocket. Then he smiled at the Clark family and said, "Sorry for the disturbance, everyone; this meal is on my account."

The key members of the Sullivan family also nodded and bowed, showing unspeakable respect and fear.

James nodded slightly. "You may leave now."

That casual demeanor, it seemed that Jared was his lackey, was something the Clark family could not accept.

Mary straightened her back imperceptibly. She felt vindicated, saying, "James, let's get together another day. Everyone, I'll take my leave."

Jared laughed heartily, then led his entourage away.

The room fell silent again.

Kylie and the others looked uncomfortable, feeling hot all over. Just before, they had called James worthless, telling him to go work on the Sullivan family's construction site, but in a blink, he had become the Sullivan family's honored guest.

Jared's apology was a slap that truly hurt.

Christopher was even more uncomfortable, always having been the one to suppress James, but today, he was instantly overpowered by him.

This was more uncomfortable than making a fool of himself at Addison's birthday party.

After Jared and his group disappeared, the private room remained quiet, and the atmosphere was a bit awkward. Kylie and the others ate with a bad taste.

However, Mary had a great appetite and drank two bowls of dessert. But being kind-hearted, she did not turn around to mock everyone.

"James, how did you fool Jared?" Abigail couldn't hold back and asked, "I'm telling you, he's not easy to mess with. Whatever you've deceived him with, you better come clean."

"Otherwise, you might not only harm yourself but also involve us innocent people."

She warned James, "He's a tough nut to crack. ."

In her view, Jared held James in such high regard because James must have tricked him; otherwise, this scene wouldn't have occurred.

How could James possibly be better than Christopher?

James ate beef while nodding repeatedly. "Understood."

Kylie also didn't like James overshadowing Christopher. She said, "You know your own; Jared is not someone to be trifled with."

James replied, "Yes."

"Learn your lesson," Stella sneered, "Don't say you and Jared are close; even if you are, you have nothing to be smug about."

"Jared is not clean. Making friends with him, you'd better not end up with half a head missing while getting no benefits."

"Times have changed; it's not like decades ago; making money cleanly is the only way to last."

"Jared won't be long..."

She looked at James with contempt and said, "If you want to bring honor to your ancestors, you should get into a big company."

Kylie nodded along. "That's right, times have changed, crooked paths don't last, and big companies are the way to go."

Although Christopher felt awkward, after all, he had also subcontracted the Sullivan family's projects, he didn't speak out as it could dampen James's spirit.

"Stick to the right path," Stella lectured James as if she were giving advice, "If one day you achieve half of what I have, you can also be considered to have brought honor to the Smith family..."

She stopped mid-sentence because, in her line of sight, another group of well-dressed men and women appeared.

Among them, one face was familiar.

Stella left James behind, excitedly walking to the door to greet the man leading the group.

James glanced sideways.

Jonathan Moore dressed in the latest fashion, pointy shoes, slim pants, wearing Armani. He was effeminate and wealthy, with a powerful aura. Only the bandages on his head and hands made him look somewhat comical.

Hearing Stella greeting him, Kylie and the others instinctively stood up to greet him.

"Mr. Moore, what a coincidence to meet you here." Stella made herself appear gentle and charming; her arrogance turned to warmth. "I've always wanted to thank you for your cultivation but never had the chance."

Would you give me the opportunity today to treat you and your friends to a meal?

The Clark family's relatives nodded to themselves; Stella was indeed handling things well.

"Stella..." Jonathan glanced indifferently over Stella and her family; then his gaze fell on James eating lobster. He paused, seemingly not expecting to see James here. His aloof face suddenly became warm.

Seeing Jonathan stride in, Stella was even happier and said, "Thank you for gracing us."

"Mom, this is the general manager of the WH Group's Rosewood City branch and also my benefactor."

The Clark family was delighted.

Christopher also held his head high, proud of Stella. He even rolled up his sleeves, ready to shake hands.

However, Jonathan ignored the Clark family, walking straight past them to stand respectfully before James, saying, "Mr. Williams."
