Chapter 383 Who Dares to Block the Way?
Seeing the newcomer, Violette's face went pale.
Mary and Olivia were just as stunned, never expecting Gerald to back James up.
"Don't you know that I, Gerald, can put you in your place with just a slap?"
Gerald walked up to Violette and slapped her hard, sending her sprawling to the ground.
Dozens of her subordinates instinctively shouted, "Captain!"
"Captain?" Gerald spoke calmly, "Not anymore."
With just one sentence, he ended Violette's career.
Struggling to get up, Violette's face was as pale as a ghost. She knew she was finished; her bright future and the Lee family's status were all gone.
But she didn't dare show any anger. The person in front of her was on par with Trevor, even higher in status than her father Isaac. How could she afford to be angry?
Violette couldn't help but plead, "Mr. Rivera, for the sake of my grandfather, give me one more chance!"
"If you had offended me or someone from the Rivera family, I would definitely give your grandfather some face."
Gerald made it clear.
"But you offended James."
Mary and Olivia glanced at James again, deeply puzzled about how James had earned Gerald's support.
They suspected James had some sort of relationship with Kaida, which was why Gerald was protecting him.
James remained calm, though his eyes darted around.
Violette made one last effort. "Mr. Rivera, I was just following orders to arrest James. He injured someone yesterday."
"A lot happened at Glowing Oasis. I don't care, or I might let some things slide, but that doesn't mean I'm unaware." Gerald's tone was indifferent. "If you're bringing up James injuring Elijah, then I have to question your pursuit of Olivia."
"So whether you want to talk rules, power, or strength, you need to think it through."
"Don't bring big trouble to yourself or your father."
Faced with Gerald's blunt warning, Violette lowered her head and said nothing more.
Then, gritting her teeth, she ordered, "Let's go!"
Violette and her subordinates prepared to leave, but James casually stepped forward. "Who said you could leave like that?"
Violette turned and glared at James. "James, don't push your luck."
James didn't waste words. He rushed over and slapped Violette three times.
"You slapped Olivia twice. How could I not return the favor?"
Then he kicked Violette, sending her flying.
Olivia grabbed James. "James, that's enough. Don't hit her anymore."
She was worried that if James killed Violette, it would bring him a lot of trouble.
Violette, furious, struggled to get up. "James, you're just a scoundrel, relying on Mr. Rivera and Mary to bully others."
Her subordinates were also indignant, seeing James as a bully.
"Do you not feel ashamed saying that?"
"Aren't you also relying on the Lee family and a few guns to be arrogant? Without those, a passerby could beat you to death."
James spoke indifferently, "And Mr. Rivera isn't backing me up. On the contrary, he saved your lives."
Violette, clutching her face, coldly retorted, "Do you think you can stand up to thirty-six guns?"
She couldn't believe that without Gerald and Mary, James could gain any advantage against thirty-six guns.
James snapped his fingers.
At the snap, doors on both sides of the corridor opened instantly, revealing crossbows and flashing blades.
Dozens of uniformed men had no time to react before knives were at their throats.
The swift and precise actions left them no chance to fight back.
Violette, who had been retreating rapidly, also stopped as a black sword was pressed against her throat.
The cold steel was chilling.
Seeing their attire, Violette was both shocked and furious. "Mystic Alliance? James, you even hired the Mystic Alliance as muscle?"
"Break one hand of each and throw them out," James ordered, waving his hand dismissively as the doors closed.
The corridor was soon filled with screams.
Mary's eyelids twitched. James's ruthlessness made her feel like she didn't recognize the man who used to do laundry and cook without complaint.
Gerald looked at James with admiration. "Impressive, Mr. Williams. You've intergrated the Mystic Alliance. Should I call you President Williams now?"
Undoubtedly, Gerald had already investigated James becoming the president.
'Glowing Oasis Mystic Alliance?' Mary squinted, once again surprised by James's identity, feeling that this scoundrel had too many secrets.
Olivia, on the other hand, looked at James with gentle eyes, proud of her man as always.
"Mr. Rivera, you're too kind. It's just child's play, nothing impressive," James said, ignoring the expressions of the two women and turning to Gerald with a smile. "By the way, Mr. Rivera, what brings you to me so early? Is Mrs. Rivera ill?"
"No, no," Gerald waved his hand. "Here's the thing. Last night, there was a violent incident at Riverside Tower. It was a fight, and many people were injured or killed."
James looked up. "Clarence."
"It seems you're well-informed," Gerald praised, then continued. "The fight and deaths were serious, but with the police involved, I wasn't too worried."
"But there remained some sort of plague."
"Not only were the deceased in a terrible state, but the restaurant staff, managers, diners, and even the officers and forensic experts who went there have all fallen unconscious."
"The hospital sent doctors to treat them, but it was useless. Over a hundred people involved are experiencing a decline in bodily functions."
"And many of the doctors have also been affected, collapsing this morning."
"This situation is too tricky. All I can do now is quarantine them, but that's not a solution. I came to ask if you could take a look."
He placed his hope on James. "I hope you can save them and stop this plague."
Kaida also nodded gently. "Mr. Williams, if this isn't handled well, many people could die."
"So that's what this is about," James laughed after hearing this. "This isn't a plague. It's a Sorcerous Poison created by a woman. Clarence's family was killed by it."
"After killing them, the woman was busy finishing the job and didn't clean up the scene, so those who came into contact were easily affected."
"I can cure this, but I can't go right now. I'll go tomorrow to resolve it."
"Of course, I won't let them suffer."
James had Nathaniel bring two hundred Toxiclear Elixirs and handed them to Gerald. "Take these pills back. They will keep the poisoned people alive."
"I'll also give you a prescription. It won't cure all poisons, but it can resist Gu Sorcery and slow down the poison's effects."
James didn't hold back, quickly writing a prescription for Gerald.
"You can detoxify? And these pills can save lives?" Hearing this, Gerald was overjoyed, shaking James's hand vigorously. "Mr. Williams, thank you. On behalf of the people of Glowing Oasis, thank you."
James smiled lightly. "No need to thank me. It's my honor to help you, Mr. Rivera."
"You really know how to talk," Gerald laughed heartily, then asked, "Do you have plans today?"
"I'm going to visit Trevor," James scratched his head. "But someone doesn't like me showing up at the Lee Manor, so I'll probably be there all day."
"No problem." Gerald waved his hand. "I'll take you in. Let's see who dares to stop us."
