Chapter 32

"Are you a doctor? Please take a look at my grandfather." The girl, grasping at straws, pulled James down. "If you cure my grandfather, I'll give you a million dollars."

James examined the old man closely.

In just a short while, the old man's eyes were bleeding, his throat was swollen, and the corners of his mouth were cracked.

Without wasting words, James took the old man's wrist in his hand.

The Life Gem spun.

[Status: Toxin spreading, organ failure...]

The old man's condition was clear to James in an instant.

Although James already had two white glows, enough to revive the old man instantly, he was reluctant to use them. He wanted to use his medical skills to save people and accumulate more white glow.

He took out a needle box he carried with him, selected three silver needles, quickly sterilized them, and then inserted them into the fainting old man.

The old man grunted in pain, and the bleeding in his eyes and the swelling subsided.

James didn't stop, preparing the fourth, fifth, and sixth needles.

At that moment, the crowd became noisy again.

Frank and Kylie, who happened to be passing by, squeezed in to see what was happening.

Frank, seeing James performing a rescue, blurted out, "Does the good-for-nothing know medical skills?"

Kylie, severely humiliated by James that evening, was filled with hatred towards him.

So she sneered bitterly, "If he knows medical skills, then pigs might as well fly."

"You're just showing off. Bastard, be careful not to kill the man, or you'll go to jail."

James ignored the Clarks and calmly inserted three more needles.

The toxins spreading throughout the old man's body gathered in his abdomen.

Hearing Frank and Kylie's words, the girl was stunned and unconsciously asked James, "Aren't you a doctor?"

"He's no doctor!" Kylie said contemptuously, looking at James. "His name is James, the live-in son-in-law of the Smith family, who is jobless and living off his wife. Which hospital would hire him?"

She insinuated, "If you let him continue like this, be careful. Your grandfather might end up dead instead of sick..."

Mary, who squeezed in, frowned. "Auntie Kylie, be kind with your words."

Although Mary also doubted James's medical skills, seeing him so determined to save someone, she temporarily suppressed her complaints.

Kylie said, "I'm saying this for him."

"Reminding him not to think that knowing a few people makes him invincible, that he knows everything."

"If he causes a death, not even a god can save him."

"What? You're not a doctor?" The Givenchy girl's face changed drastically. She pulled James away and shouted, "If you're not a doctor, why are you touching my grandfather?"

At the same moment, the old man began convulsing violently, coughing incessantly, his chest heaving.

Kylie shouted gleefully, "He's dying, he's dying..."

The girl shouted, "Shut up!"

“Grandpa, what's wrong with you?" she supported the old man, shouting, "Doctor, is there a doctor?"

James almost fell, steadying himself and saying, "He's missing three needles. If I give him three more, he'll be half better."

"Get out!" The girl was furious. "I'm telling you, it better be that my grandfather is fine. If not, I won't let you off."

Kylie kicked him while he was down: "Call the police, arrest him; I can testify that he's practicing medicine without a license."

If James was arrested and jailed, she could sleep soundly.

Mary ran up and pulled James, saying, "James, forget it, don't meddle anymore."

"No, no, there are three more needles. Otherwise, he will be in trouble." James broke free from Mary and, with a sway of his body, dodged the Givenchy girl's interception and swiftly inserted three needles into the old man's body.

Just as James was about to insert the last needle, the Givenchy girl rushed over and knocked the silver needle away.

"Asshole!" She roared, "What are you doing? Are you trying to kill my grandfather?"

No sooner had she finished speaking than the trembling old man let out a guttural sound from his stomach, his body jolting as his head lifted abruptly. The next second, he spat out a large amount of food.

After vomiting, his condition improved; not only did his complexion return to normal, but his breathing became smooth as well.

However, James's expression remained grave.

The toxins were resolved, but the source of the poison was not expelled.

The danger was not over.

"Get away." The Givenchy girl pushed James aside and pointed at his nose, cursing, "I'm telling you, if anything happens to my grandfather, I won't let you off."

James frowned slightly; not only was the woman ungrateful, but her attitude was also terrible.

Mary pulled James back a few steps.

At that moment, an ambulance arrived, and several paramedics rushed over.

They quickly administered first aid to the old man, soon determining he had suffered heatstroke.

After some oxygen was administered, the old man slowly opened his eyes, exhaled a long breath, and his vital signs gradually returned to normal.

It was clear to everyone that the danger had passed for the moment.

"Doctor, thank you." Seeing the old man's condition improve, the Givenchy girl was tearfully grateful to the paramedics.

She added, "Thank goodness you arrived on time; otherwise, my grandfather would have been in trouble. I will reward you generously."

The paramedics waved it off, then placed the old man on a stretcher, ready to take him to the hospital for further examination.

James hurriedly called out to the girl, "Miss, your grandfather is poisoned; he needs one more needle to remove the source of the poison; otherwise..."

"Poisoned?" The girl was furious. "You are a swindler, randomly sticking needles in my grandfather; I'll kill you."

She had eaten with her grandfather, and she was fine; where did this so-called poison come from?

The girl slapped at James.

Before her hand could reach James, Mary caught her wrist and said, "Miss, James meant well."

"When no one else stepped forward to help, he went to save a person. You don't have to thank him, but there's no need to hit him."

"If your grandfather has an issue, you can call the police."

"Resort to violence won't solve the problem."

Halfway through, her tone suddenly changed, and an irresistible aura emanated from her.

She added, "And what are you? Dare you to hit my husband?"

"I may look down on him, but that doesn't mean you, a stranger, can bully him."

Mary's unprecedented assertiveness. "If your grandfather suffers because of James, we will take full responsibility, even if it means trading two lives for one."

She was like a tigress protecting her cub, leaving James slightly stunned.

This was the first time Mary had so clearly stood up for him.

The girl was also taken aback, surprised by Mary's assertiveness, and then angrily broke free from her grasp, saying, "You just hope my grandfather will be fine. Otherwise, I'll make you all pay."

She hurried toward the ambulance.

Frank and Kylie watched James with schadenfreude.

Mary turned and kicked James, saying, "I told you not to meddle!"

James rubbed his shin, which was quite painful, but his heart bloomed with joy...

He felt Mary's care...

Kylie looked at James triumphantly and said, "Good-for-nothing, pretending to be a god, you hit a snag, didn't you?"

Frank also looked disdainful and said, "A miracle doctor?"

James said, "Uncle Frank, you suffered from kidney disease when you were young and didn't treat it properly, leading to poor kidney function."

His eyes narrowed.

"Frequent trips to the bathroom at night," James said.

Frank was shocked and asked, "How do you know that?"

James ignored him and continued, "Your liver is not good; you have a fiery temper, often lose your temper, and you have severe fatty liver."

Frank looked at James in disbelief.

James didn't stop, looking at the gleeful Kylie. "Auntie Kylie, you haven't been feeling well lately, have you?"

Kylie's eyelid twitched. She said, "What's it to you?"

"If I'm not mistaken, you've had fever, headaches, and joint pain over the past half month." James finished his diagnosis in one breath. "You've had some skin rashes, haven't you?"

Kylie's complexion changed. "How is that possible... how could you know?"

James spoke lightly, "Your condition isn't hard to treat, but it needs to be addressed promptly, or it could harm yourself and others."

Frank asked reflexively, "What is this disease?"

"syphilis." James smiled, then walked away.

Kylie was scared out of her wits. "You..."

Before she could react, Frank had already slapped her across the face.
