Chapter 232 Arrogance

"Hey there, Miss Howard," Mary said, not bothered by Sarah's attitude. "I heard Mr. Howard's not feeling great, so I brought Dr. Williams along."

"James, meet Miss Sarah Howard," she introduced.

James reached out his hand. "Nice to meet you, Miss Howard."

"Thanks," Sarah replied, ignoring his hand and turning away. "My dad's in the living room. Follow me."

James frowned but followed Mary. They walked into a fancy living room packed with books, porcelain, and gold trinkets. A middle-aged guy, looking pretty sick, was on the couch, surrounded by bodyguards, assistants, and maids.

James recognized him right away—Simon, a big shot from Philadelphia.

"Dad, Miss Smith is here," Sarah said softly, her tone shifting. "She brought a doctor for you."

She glanced at James, skeptical but leaving the call to her dad.

"Mary, thanks for the trouble," Simon said, getting up to shake hands. "It's just a minor thing."

James checked out Simon's condition with the Life Gem.

"Mr. Howard, you're too kind," Mary smiled. "You're a valued client and a role model. It's only right to visit you."

"Mary, you're too kind," Simon replied, not really interested. He didn't ask them to sit or offer tea, making things awkward. Mary quickly handed him a gift.

"Mr. Howard, just a small token of appreciation," she said, giving him a box of pricey ginseng.

"Thanks, Mary," Simon said, barely looking at it. His place was already packed with such stuff.

"Mary, I'm here for two reasons: to lock in a deal with BH Pharmaceuticals and to have Brooke and his team treat my illness," Simon said bluntly. "I'm not interested in anything else."

"I get it," Mary replied, still smiling. "I brought James, a doctor from JZL Medical Clinic. He's really good. Would you let him check you out?"

Simon eyed James skeptically. "No need. I have an appointment with Mr. Brooke. This young guy's too green."

He waved dismissively. "Let him go back and study more."

Simon was disappointed in Mary, feeling disrespected. He decided to cut all ties with her.

James squinted at the mention of Brooke, remembering the foreigner Riley had brought to the Miller family. He didn't expect the apprentice to outshine the master.

Mary's face reddened slightly. "Mr. Howard, James isn't just any doctor."

"Miss Smith, that's enough," Sarah snapped, her expression cold. "Please leave. My dad needs rest."

Mary sighed. "I'm sorry. We'll head out now."

"Sarah, see them out and give this young man two hundred grand as a consultation fee," Simon said dismissively, turning back to the TV. "Unless it's Brooke, don't let anyone else bother me."

His time was extremely valuable, worth thousands of dollars per minute, so he had no interest in wasting it on ordinary people.

Sarah nodded. "Got it."

James smirked. He had planned to diagnose Simon and treat his headache, but Simon's arrogance changed his mind.

"Mr. Howard, listen up. In three days, you'll have chest pain. In five days, you'll vomit blood. In seven days, you'll be paralyzed. In ten days, you'll have a brain hemorrhage. In half a month, you'll die," James said, his voice deepening. "If you want to live, go to JZL Medical Clinic and kneel for three days."

"Mary, let's bounce," he said, pulling her away.

Sarah was furious. "How dare you curse my father?"

Simon stopped her. "Young and reckless," he muttered.

James and Mary reached the entrance. Samuel had driven off to tour the island and would be back in twenty minutes, so they waited near the guardhouse.

Mary looked at James apologetically. "James, I'm sorry. I didn't mean for you to be humiliated."

James smiled. "Don't overthink it. Simon's arrogance isn't your fault. This doesn't bother me at all."

Mary hesitated. "I'll treat you to dinner tonight to make up for it."

James joked, "You keep treating me to dinner. Are you trying to win me back?"

Mary kicked him playfully. "Get lost!"

Before she could finish, the electronic gate opened. A tall, stylish assistant appeared with two bodyguards.

"Sorry, Miss Smith, Mr. Williams. Our lady has asked me to escort you off the premises," the assistant said stiffly.

Mary's cheeks flushed with humiliation. "Alright, we'll leave immediately."

The assistant handed her an envelope. "Here's two hundred dollars for your travel expenses."

James took out three hundred dollars and threw it at the assistant. "Tell your lady I'll give her three hundred dollars for showing me what a fool looks like. And tell her, when Simon kneels, I hope to see her there too."

The assistant's tone was sharp. "I'll relay your disrespectful words to Miss Howard. Now, please leave immediately."

The bodyguards stepped forward, staring at James and Mary.

"Mary, let's go!" James sneered, pulling her up the hill.

The assistant shouted mockingly, "Miss Smith, ahead is Rosewood Villa No. 1. You're going the wrong way to get down the hill. Trespassing is illegal."

James retorted, "We're going home."

The assistant and her companions were full of disdain. That was Rosewood Villa No. 1, a 140 million dollar villa. What home?

Before their smiles could fade, James took out the key to Rosewood Villa No. 1 and pressed it. The electronic gate opened, and ten servants appeared, greeting James, "Welcome home, Mr. Williams!"

The assistant and her companions were stunned, covering their mouths in disbelief.
