Chapter 251 Crisis
While Neil and Eugene were plotting, James was getting bugged by Kaitlyn to sign up for a short video account.
After bombing a few interviews, Kaitlyn got all hyped about short videos and kept nagging James to make an account to support her.
James couldn't say no and ended up making an account called Rosewood City Expert just to follow her.
Seeing Kaitlyn's measly dozen followers, James almost burst out laughing before putting his phone down to take a shower.
Just as he plopped down on the bed, his phone buzzed again.
A video call request popped up.
James accepted the call while pouring himself a drink.
The screen lit up, showing Olivia lounging lazily in a milk-filled bathtub.
Her waist was slim, and her legs were long.
Her skin seemed to glow, and she had her delicate feet raised high, with her translucent toes glistening.
What really caught James's eye was Olivia's red lipstick, the most seductive shade of red.
Olivia's lips were thin and small, and in the dim light, that bright red was super eye-catching.
James's breathing got a bit faster without him even realizing it.
Olivia shifted her legs slightly.
James spat out the water in his mouth.
Seeing James like that, Olivia giggled, "James, do you think I'm pretty? How's my figure?"
James wiped the water from his mouth, coughed, and tried to change the subject, "Olivia, you called me in the middle of the night, what's up?"
"You silly, I'm giving you such a treat, and you're ruining the mood." Olivia lightly snorted, "Do you know how many people want to see my body but can't?"
"Can't help it, you're too tempting," James answered honestly, "If I look at it a few more times, I'm afraid I'll lose control."
"Lose control? What would you do if you did?" Olivia blinked her beautiful eyes and asked, "Would you really hook up with me? Be rough if you do."
James felt his mouth go dry and his heart start to race.
"Alright, I won't tease you anymore." Olivia let out a pleasant laugh, clearly enjoying James's awkwardness, then changed the topic, "I'm calling you tonight because I found out something. Neil lost the fight but isn't willing to leave Rosewood City."
She got to the point, "He's been making some moves these past few days."
James's tone was calm, "There's an agreement, and Sky Peak Club has the home advantage. What's he got to be unwilling about?"
"He won't target us, but he doesn't know you're the president. We're worried he might go after you and Francis." Olivia's face turned serious, "He's doing this for two reasons: to vent his frustration at losing and to provoke us."
James nodded after a moment of thought, "It is indeed a good way to stir things up by targeting me and Francis."
He remembered what Francis had told him, that someone had been watching him these past few days, likely sent by Neil.
The plan was clever, but Neil still underestimated him.
"We've heard that Bryan can't come to Rosewood City for now, but he has called in the Goldenspire The Shadow Triad." Olivia informed him, "There are three notorious fighters. They are violent, bloodthirsty, and as strong as Leopold.
They are expected to arrive in Rosewood City tonight or tomorrow. Neil lost the fight and still called them over; they definitely aren't here for fun. Also, there's a rumor that Neil contacted Maximilian's three disciples and hinted that you and Francis killed Leopold.
With Neil's tendency to exaggerate, those three are likely to be enraged. Once they're angry, they'll come to Rosewood City for revenge. Archibald, Montgomery, and Thunder rank higher than Leopold on the hitman list. If the three of them team up to trouble you, you'll be in great danger."
Olivia's eyes were full of concern. "If you don't have anything pressing, it's best to stay put at Bright Heart Hall Clinic."
She knew James and Francis were tough, but going up against three top-tier hitmen was no joke.
James sat up a bit. "They even brought in The Shadow Triad, three elite hitmen. Neil must really see me as a threat."
"Even though you're the president, we've all agreed to send a team to protect you secretly," Olivia said with a sweet smile. "They're people I've trained abroad, skilled and loyal. The leader is named Phoebe Lee."
She added playfully, "And you can't say no."
Even though these folks weren't the absolute best, Olivia wanted to make sure James had some extra protection.
James smiled helplessly. "Since you put it that way, I guess I have no choice."
Olivia's smile was radiant. "Then it's settled. Once they get to Rosewood City tomorrow, I'll send them over."
James nodded. "Alright, as long as they don't get in the way of my consultations."
"Oh, by the way, James, I might have to go on a trip in a few days. I could be gone for ten days or maybe half a month," Olivia suddenly remembered, sitting up a bit and smiling. "Don't worry if you can't reach me."
James was surprised. "A trip? Where are you going?"
Olivia smiled. "Just some personal stuff. I won't be gone too long. I'm just giving you a heads-up so you don't worry."
Almost at the same time, a flash of lightning lit up the window, followed by a loud thunderclap.
James glanced out the window.
Looks like it's gonna rain!
The next day, Rosewood City didn't get any rain, but the wind was strong, and the sky was gloomy.
James opened the clinic on time as usual, but in the afternoon, he sped up his consultations.
By five o'clock, he had treated most of the patients, and James took a half-hour break before dragging Samuel to JZL Medical Clinic to practice martial arts.
Compared to the bustling Bright Heart Hall Clinic, JZL Medical Clinic was much quieter.
When James and Samuel arrived at the backyard, Francis had just come out of JZL Medical Clinic, carrying a bag of trash to the end of the street.
As dusk approached, the sky darkened, and the wind blew more fiercely than usual.
James didn't pay attention to the weather, focusing instead on Samuel's martial arts practice.
With James's guidance, Samuel's punches were strong and fierce, even more so than the previous week.
With a final punch, Samuel struck a wooden post, and with a loud bang, the post shattered.
"Good, very good, excellent." A sharp voice came from behind, accompanied by applause.
Samuel turned his head, his face full of shock.
At some point, thirty people had appeared in the backyard, all wearing masks and holding sharp knives.
Leading them was a man with a sharp face.
He grinned menacingly. "Your martial arts are good, but unfortunately, you're going to die."
