Chapter 454 I Despise You

"Because he's my boss." Ollie's voice wasn't loud, but it hit Francis and his crew like a ton of bricks.

Everyone knew what kind of scumbag Ollie was.

He was the former president's son, the most notorious villain of Glowing Oasis, a real menace who bullied men and women, committed arson and murder, and caused headaches for countless people.

Although Francis was also a troublemaker, he was no match for Ollie. He usually avoided him whenever they crossed paths.

Hearing Ollie call someone his boss was a huge shock for Francis and his gang.

Despite the shock, Francis needed to save face in public. He straightened up and glared at Ollie, shouting, "Ollie, what the hell are you doing?"

His voice was low and menacing. "Are you really gonna turn against me for this nobody?"

Ollie didn't waste words. He walked up and slapped Francis hard, making him stagger back.

"Turn against you? Why not?" Ollie was already devoted to James, so he wouldn't miss any chance to show it.

"You—" Francis covered his cheek, furious. He hadn't expected Ollie to be so ruthless.

Vance and the others were also stunned, shocked by the conflict between the two young men and by James's relationship with Ollie.

But no matter what, they couldn't intervene or speak up.

Francis shouted angrily, "Ollie, don't push it too far."

He wanted to punch James, believing he could take him down. But Ollie was the head of the Green family and had close ties with the Mystic Alliance. He didn't dare to make a move.

Otherwise, the Mystic Alliance members of Glowing Oasis would see it as rebellion. Not only would the new president be against him, but even his big brother Crazy Bear would break his legs.

He could only bluff, "I'm backing down, but it doesn't mean I'm afraid of you. Are you really gonna turn against me for an outsider?"

Ollie slapped him again, making Francis's mouth bleed.

"Outsider? Offending James means offending me, and the Green family."

Normally, Ollie wouldn't bother with Francis, but when it came to James, he was merciless.

Francis was furious. "Ollie, I suggest you think twice if it's worth it!"

He was angry but still confident. He didn't believe Ollie would oppose him for James.

It wasn't about daring, but about whether it was worth it.

"Is it worth it?" Ollie sneered, "I'll tell you, if James needs it, I could shoot you dead."

"Even if my father were here, he'd tell you that offending James means offending the Green family."

"But you, daring to offend James, if Crazy Bear finds out, he'll probably break your legs."

Ollie knew that Crazy Bear had long submitted to James. If Francis complained, he'd only get beaten up.

Francis's face changed. He hadn't expected Ollie to be so reckless for James.

Had he really offensed a big shot?

He instinctively looked at Vance.

Vance hurriedly said, "Mr. Vasquez, this James is just a doctor. He even worked as my salesman. He has no background."

Marigold nodded in agreement. "I can vouch for that. James's family just sells coffee and does shipping."

Then why Ollie would protect him like this? There must be something they hadn't investigated.

Francis's face was grim. He gritted his teeth and decided to ask Crazy Bear about it.

He cover his aching face and said in a low voice, "It's settled. Let's go."

He led Vance and his crew to leave.

"Stop." James, who had been silent, spoke coldly, "You think it's settled?"

At that moment, an invisible aura emanated from James.

The dozens of people around instinctively felt inferior and restrained their presence.

Francis turned to James and shouted, "What more do you want?"

James ignored the mocking gazes and stepped forward with his hands behind his back. "I don't want to hit your face, but you wanted to break my hand."

"If I didn't have the skills or if Ollie hadn't shown up, my face would be swollen, and my hand would be broken."

"I'm someone who repays every grudge. Even if it didn't happen, I already have a trauma."

"So today, if I don't break one of your hands, it's not over."

James's smile was gentle, his voice calm, but his words were filled with deadly intent.

Francis and his crew's faces changed dramatically.

Ollie chuckled. James was always James.

Coralie had just breathed a sigh of relief, thinking James knew Ollie and had narrowly escaped. But hearing James's words, her heart tightened again.

She wished she could shut James's mouth. 'Can't you just be a little softer? Don't you see the situation?'

Coralie stomped her foot in frustration. 'With Ollie's backing, you should take what you can get. If you push too hard, you'll make things difficult for yourself and Ollie.'

"James, don't be ungrateful. Mr. Vasquez is letting you off because of Mr. Green." Before Francis could speak, Marigold rushed over and said, "Apologize quickly, so Mr. Vasquez doesn't get angry."

Her tone was aggressive, but she thought she was saving James.

Marigold had originally wanted to see James humiliated.

But Ollie had appeared, not only defusing the crisis but also slapping Francis three times.

She and Sidney couldn't accept it.

Seeing James continue to challenge Francis, Marigold couldn't hold back.

Besides disliking James's arrogance, she was worried that the situation would escalate and affect her and Coralie.

In Marigold's view, James had come to the party because of what she had said that morning.

She didn't want the rising Howard family to be ruined by an outsider like James.

"Apologize?" James's lips curled into a mocking smile. Marigold was really too self-righteous.

Marigold snorted, "I advise you to apologize quickly. Mr. Green can protect you for a while, but not forever."

She reminded James, "Don't you know your own background?"

James didn't bother listening to Marigold anymore, "You have no right to lecture me."

"You—" Marigold was almost choked, then shouted, "If you keep this up, I won't help you anymore."

James ignored her and looked at Francis and his group, speaking calmly, "One hand each, or it's not over."

At this moment, Ollie folded his arms and watched the show.

"James, don't be arrogant." Francis glared at James, furious. "Without Ollie, I could crush you with one hand."

At that moment, a gentle yet chilling voice came from the crowd, "Go on, Mr. Vasquez, show me how you will crush my friend."

Everyone froze.

Then, Francis and his crew saw Kaida and her entourage appear.

Wearing a black skirt, a white knit sweater, and a white shirt underneath, Kaida looked both elegant and fierce.

Marigold and the others knew Kaida. Seeing her, their eyelids twitched. "Hello, Ms. Rivera."

Francis squeezed out a greeting, "Ms. Rivera."

Kaida ignored the crowd's gazes and walked straight to James, linking her arm with his. "Don't waste time on these small fries. Crazy Bear will give you an explanation."

James thought for a moment and decided to let it go. After all, the party hadn't started yet, and shedding blood now wouldn't be good.

"Let's go inside. My father and the others will be here soon."

With that, Kaida led James into the inner courtyard, not even glancing at Francis and his crew.

But Francis's forehead was sweating.

Who was Kaida?

Gerald's daughter. Even Crazy Bear and Milo had to show her respect.

Such a woman treated James with utmost respect. How could Francis not be shocked?

Vance was also stunned, staring at James's back, not knowing what to think.

Sidney, who had been high and mighty, dropped his wine glass without noticing, his eyes fixed on James.

He seemed to want to peel James apart, to see who he really was.

Why did he deserve Kaida's favor?

Coralie found it hard to accept James's newfound glory. She bit her lip, watching James being surrounded by admirers.

'James, you're perfectly fine, but you're really being kept by this woman. I despise you.'
