Chapter 186 So Hard to Deal with Him?
"Nathaniel?"
"Richard's third son?"
Jared and the others were caught off guard, their faces turning serious.
Jared recalled that Richard had three sons and a daughter. Two sons and a daughter were accomplished members of the Mystic Alliance. But the third son? A total screw-up. He spent his days eating, drinking, and bullying people. Three years ago, he even killed someone in a drunk driving accident abroad, making headlines.
Word was he got locked up, but now he was back in Rosewood City, causing trouble with James.
"So, it's Mr. Davis. Let's sit and chat," Jared said with a hearty laugh. "Lunch is on me. Let's drink till we drop."
James had taken down Mia and her gang yesterday. Jared wanted to smooth things over with Nathaniel to keep things from getting deadly.
After all, Richard was the top dog in Rosewood City, and Jared worried James might not be able to handle him.
Stephen chimed in, "Yeah, let's talk this out."
"Get lost. You're not worth my time. Keep yapping, and I'll deal with you too," Nathaniel snapped, shoving Jared aside. He pointed at James with a sneer. "Think you're tough? Show me.
"If you can't prove it today, you're done.
"I'll tear down JZL Medical Clinic and break all your legs."
He wasn't just venting; he had orders to destroy the clinic and James.
His crew moved forward, shouting threats at James.
James smiled faintly. "You gathered all this info but missed what happened yesterday?"
"Yesterday?" Nathaniel shook his Patek Philippe watch. "What about it?"
"Yesterday, some Mystic Alliance folks came here, showing off and trying to steal Ganoderma," James said, his smile turning sly. "I crippled someone named Mia."
Stephen added, "And a dozen guys from Bruce's gym left with broken limbs."
"Mia? A cripple?"
Nathaniel's eyes narrowed, and then he burst out laughing. "You're just a doctor. You think you can cripple Mia? Get real."
Even though he was Richard's son and had protection, his status in the Mystic Alliance was lower than Mia's. Mia was genuinely skilled in martial arts and the next head of Bruce's gym.
His crew sneered, thinking James was lying.
"If you can beat Mia, I'll leave right now."
Nathaniel, with a cigarette dangling from his mouth, looked down on James with his crew.
Several of his female companions also looked at James with disdain, thinking he was just pretending to be calm.
James smiled. "Then get ready to leave."
"Enough talk," Nathaniel shouted, pointing at James. "Today, I'll show you who runs Rosewood City."
As he was about to give the command to wreck the JZL Medical Clinic, a series of rugged SUVs sped past, blaring their horns, and came to a screeching halt right in front of the clinic.
A dozen burly men disembarked first, their expressions stern, eyes filled with menace, and movements agile—clearly skilled fighters. They wore dress shirts emblazoned with the name Bruce.
Then, an elder in a green garment emerged, looking disheveled but with an unusually erect posture and eyes that radiated a palpable intensity of menace. It was an aura that commanded respect without even needing to show anger.
This was Bruce, unmistakably.
"Uncle Bruce, you're here?"
Seeing Bruce, Nathaniel was stunned. He didn't expect Bruce to show up. He thought, 'Is he here to help me? Uncle Bruce is being too kind.'
He greeted Bruce with a big smile, "Uncle Bruce, I don't need you to handle this guy. I can ruin him with one kick."
Nathaniel assumed Bruce was there to support him, thinking that with Bruce around, James was completely doomed, and he wouldn't have to worry about his father's scolding anymore.
Nathaniel's crew was buzzing with excitement. They never expected that smashing a clinic would bring out one of the four great masters, Bruce.
"Mr. Davis is really something," someone muttered.
The women in the group looked at Nathaniel with dreamy eyes.
But what happened next blew their minds.
Bruce ignored everyone, not even glancing at Nathaniel. He trembled as he walked through the crowd and stopped in front of James.
Before anyone could react, Bruce dropped to his knees with a dull thud.
"Uncle Bruce," Nathaniel and his group were stunned. "What are you doing?"
Bruce ignored them and kowtowed to James. "Mr. Williams, please save my life."
Nathaniel and his crew were dumbfounded.
Several of the women covered their mouths in shock, making the scene even more tense.
No one expected Bruce, who had rushed over, to kneel before James instead of helping Nathaniel.
"This can't be happening," Nathaniel shouted, stepping forward. "Uncle Bruce, why are you kneeling to this nobody?"
Bruce slapped Nathaniel hard. "Nobody? Who are you calling a nobody? Say that again, and I'll break your legs."
In the past, Bruce would never have hit paths with Nathaniel. No matter how furious he was, he would always show respect for Richard. But things were different now. With James controlling his future, Bruce had no choice but to seek help wherever he could.
After a day of feeling the freedom he so dearly missed, Bruce was determined not to return to his wheelchair. When he found no other options, he had no choice but to come back to JZL Medical Clinic.
He set aside his pride, not caring about appearances or Nathaniel’s feelings.
Nathaniel, fuming and clutching his face, was seething with anger, but he dared not show it toward Bruce. In his father's eyes, Bruce's worth far exceeded his own.
"Mr. Williams, we were wrong yesterday. We shouldn't have acted like thugs, and we shouldn't have tried to steal your Ganoderma."
Bruce kowtowed repeatedly to James. "Please forgive me and help me."
He really didn't want to become a cripple.
James asked calmly, "Your disciples were injured by me. Don't you hate me?"
Bruce shook his head repeatedly. "No, no, I should thank Mr. Williams for putting them in their place and preventing them from acting recklessly."
James smiled faintly. "Mia was injured by me and became a cripple. You don't hate me for that either?"
"I do, but I also accept it." Bruce let out a long breath. "She was arrogant and unruly. Having martial arts skills wasn't necessarily a good thing. One day, she might have lost her head to someone more skilled."
Nathaniel and his group looked grim. They hadn't expected that James had indeed injured people from Bruce's gym and crippled Mia.
What shocked them the most was that James was unharmed, and Bruce didn't dare to hold a grudge, even taking the initiative to make peace.
Many people quietly moved away from Nathaniel, distancing themselves to avoid getting caught in the crossfire.
James looked at Bruce and asked again, "I made you kneel today, and you don't hate me?"
"I brought this upon myself." Bruce sighed deeply. "I can't afford to hate."
In the whole world, only James could treat him. How could he hate James?
"Very well, with that understanding, I can help you." James spoke calmly. "But before I help you, you need to do something for me."
Bruce responded respectfully, "Mr. Williams, please say it."
James looked at Nathaniel and his group. "Every single one of them, break their legs."
Revenge, ten years was too late; it was better to take it on the spot.
Nathaniel's face hardened dramatically. "James, don't you dare?"
Several female companions lost their composure and coolness, retreating in panic.
Bruce gave the order. "Do it!"
His disciples and followers immediately sprang into action.
Soon, JZL Medical Clinic was filled with cries of pain. Nathaniel and his group had their legs broken by Bruce's men and were thrown out the door one by one.
Across from the clinic, in a Maserati parked in front of Bright Heart Hall Clinic, Sophie watched the scene, dumbfounded.
"How is this possible? How is this possible?"
'Isn't James supposed to be a live-in son-in-law? Why is it so difficult to deal with him?' Sophie thought.
Her emotions were in turmoil, unable to calm down for a long time.
