Chapter 395 Offer Everything
James hesitated for a moment before finally accepting Dax.
Even though Dax was in his thirties, he had the temperament of a teenager and hadn't shown any signs of malice, so James didn't feel the need to kill him.
As for Dax seeking revenge for Molly, James wasn't concerned.
Not only did he have Hell Bell as a trump card, but he also knew that Dax's feelings for Molly weren't deep.
After being asleep for thirty years, Dax woke up to a changed world and estranged family ties. To him, "mother" was just a title.
"You've got quite the deathly aura about you, don't you?"
James sent a text to Clifford, then looked at Dax and said, "Looks like your mom's treatment didn't really fix the root of the problem."
Dax had a decaying aura that was slowly corroding his entire body. His limbs, chest, face, and even his nails were turning black.
This made his already fragile life force even more precarious.
"You're very perceptive, Master." Dax replied respectfully, "My mom exhausted herself to wake me, but my body was too damaged. I'm practically a living corpse."
"She managed to revive me and get my body functioning again mainly through the Fire Lotus."
"The Fire Lotus burns to provide me with energy while also dispelling the deathly aura spreading through me."
"But I only have three Fire Lotuses inside me, and each one can only burn for a year at most, meaning I can only live for three years."
"And I can only stay awake for six hours a day; the rest of the time, I have to sleep to conserve energy. Otherwise, each Fire Lotus would only last six months."
"The Fire Lotus is like a candle in the night, both lighting the room and fending off the cold."
Dax honestly explained his situation to James, "One wrong move, and it could go out."
James observed him for a moment. "I can see your situation is quite dire."
He thought of the Fire Lotus in Samantha and wondered if Molly had planted it to sustain Dax's future life force.
Dax gave a silly grin. "Just waking up is a miracle."
"You should be grateful you met me." James's lips curled into a smile as he placed his hand on Dax's head. "Now that you're mine, I won't let you die so easily."
"I'll suppress the deathly aura in you so the Fire Lotus can burn freely."
With that, the Life Gem turned, and five white lights emanated from his palm.
Dax's body jolted, a look of pain crossed his face, but soon his eyes lit up.
The deathly aura on his head and face receded like a fading tide, and his features began to show signs of life.
The aura on his neck and chest was also dispelled, and his skin and bones became healthy.
Next, the blackness on his arms and hands disappeared, and his nails turned white.
A minute later, James withdrew his hand and said calmly, "I've dispelled all the deathly aura. It will take at least a year for it to return to its previous state."
"This means you can stay awake for twelve hours a day without having to sleep to conserve the Fire Lotus."
"For this year, you can live like a normal person."
James wiped his palm with a tissue and casually instructed Dax, "In a year, you can come to me again to dispel the deathly aura."
Dax was first shocked, then overjoyed, and finally, he couldn't help but kneel, "Thank you, Master. Thank you."
Without the deathly aura, the Fire Lotus could focus on providing energy, transforming his vitality and allowing him to live like a normal person.
This was the best news he could have hoped for.
He was no longer an outcast.
"You don't need to follow me. Someone will come to pick you up soon."
James smiled playfully, "He'll take good care of you."
He was always a bit wary of Gu. While his own medical skills were exceptional, his loved ones might not be able to withstand the same.
So James wanted to better control Dax, reducing his future risks.
Dax was very respectful. "I'll follow your orders, Master."
"By the way, did you capture a girl last night?" James suddenly remembered something, "Her name is Cordelia."
Dax scratched his head and looked toward a room on the left. "Which one?"
Which one?
James cursed under his breath and rushed over, kicking open the door to the room on the left.
He scanned the room.
James gasped. There was no bed, but the floor was covered with wooden boards and blankets, and there were a dozen little girls lying there.
Their eyes were closed, tear stains on their faces, their condition unknown.
One girl was wearing a princess dress and a small crown, looking exceptionally cute, but her eyes were swollen from crying, and her shoes were stained with blood.
There were even slap marks on her face, indicating she had suffered a lot.
"You bastard, you kidnapped so many kids?"
James cursed at Dax, then checked the girls' conditions, breathing a sigh of relief when he found they were just unconscious.
If so many innocent girls had died, Dax would have had to pay with his life.
"Dark Shadow and White Shadow brought them, saying they were playmates for me."
Dax looked confused, seeing James angry, he explained, "But they weren't fun at all, just crying and refusing the candy I gave them, calling for their parents."
"I had to sleep and couldn't take care of them, so I made them sleep too."
He curiously asked, "Master, do you know them?"
James didn't respond, just took out his phone and made a call.
Soon, Clifford arrived.
James gave him a few instructions, and Clifford nodded, then took Dax away.
Next, Clarence and the police arrived. Clarence immediately recognized the girl in the princess dress as his daughter.
"Cordelia!" Clarence rushed over and hugged Cordelia, the big man crying bitterly, then shook her, calling out, "Cordelia, wake up, wake up."
Clarence became frantic. "Cordelia, what's wrong? Quick, call a doctor."
"Stop shaking her, she's unconscious from poison." James took out silver needles and knelt down, quickly administering acupuncture to Cordelia.
After a while, Cordelia opened her eyes and weakly called out, "Daddy."
Clarence hugged her tightly. "Cordelia."
James then revived the other girls. Soon, the room was filled with crying, but it was a joyful sound, as it meant they were alive.
"By the way, Molly, Dark Shadow, and White Shadow are all dead."
James remembered and told Clarence. "May your wife's soul rest in peace."
Clarence didn't waste words, he knelt down straight away, "James, thank you for saving Cordelia and avenging us."
Clarence was willing to give everything to James as a repayment. "From now on, whatever you need, I'll do it, no matter the cost."
