Chapter 408 Black Sakura
"Sniper?" James's heart pounded as he yanked the steering wheel, causing the car to swerve wildly.
Almost instantly, another bullet zipped past, striking a truck behind him.
The truck driver screamed in pain as his vehicle veered off course, crashing into a pole at the intersection and flipping over, blocking the traffic behind.
Drivers who witnessed the scene were horrified. They slammed on their brakes and, not understanding what was happening, jumped out of their cars to try to rescue the truck driver.
A few patrol officers also rushed over from nearby.
James remained tense, quickly scanning the rearview mirror. He spotted a long gun brazenly sticking out from a distant building slated for demolition.
The gun was aimed directly at James's car, and the shooter was a woman in gray, wearing a mask.
She made no effort to hide herself, standing tall and shooting at James with a hunter's arrogance, as if he were prey caught in a trap.
Brazen and ruthless.
"Get down!"
Seeing the gun barrel lower, James's hair stood on end. He swerved the car again, changing direction.
He also pushed down the still-dazed Samantha.
At that moment, another bullet came flying, blowing out the car's tire.
The car swerved, nearly flipping over. James slammed on the brakes and quickly unbuckled his seatbelt.
In that brief moment, three more sniper bullets hit the car, making it unrecognizable.
The last bullet even grazed Samantha's shoulder.
She let out a muffled groan as blood spurted out, collapsing against the car door, blood quickly filling the interior.
"Stay in the car and don't move."
James shouted at Samantha before kicking open the car door and rolling out. He then sprinted towards the distant building.
The sniper was targeting him. If he separated from Samantha, she would be safe.
Seeing James emerge from the car, the woman in gray fired three more shots, casually and with an air of dominance.
James relied on his instincts, rolling and leaping to narrowly avoid the bullets, then continued his charge towards the building.
He was determined to take her down today, no matter the cost.
"Interesting!" On the rooftop, the woman in gray squinted slightly, surprised that today's target was proving difficult.
But she didn't dwell on it. She calmly reloaded her gun, preparing for a decisive shot as James closed the distance.
Three seconds later, through her scope, she locked onto James.
Her eyes turned cold as she prepared to pull the trigger. Suddenly, James accelerated, shooting forward like an arrow.
The woman's finger couldn't retract in time. A bullet fired, hitting the ground where James had just sped up.
A stone pillar exploded, sending debris flying.
Seeing her shot miss, the woman's lips twitched slightly, giving James more respect.
Her fighting spirit was fully ignited.
She quickly regained her composure, adjusted her aim, and fired another shot at James's trajectory through the swirling dust—Got him!
She was confident she could hit James.
But just before the bullet reached him, James was abruptly pulled to a stop.
He performed an emergency brake, coming to a complete halt.
The bullet thundered past his face, piercing an advertisement board.
James then bent down and darted forward again.
"Damn it!" The woman in gray's expression grew serious. She hadn't expected James to be so agile and skilled.
At this distance, she was a sharpshooter, with an almost perfect accuracy. Yet James had effortlessly dodged her shots.
After a brief exclamation, the woman tightened her grip on her gun, aiming at the serpentine-moving James.
Breathe, aim, shoot.
Almost simultaneously, James suddenly fell to the side, performing a forward roll.
The woman in gray's finger had already pulled the trigger.
Another bullet missed.
After several misses, the woman's expression turned colder. She adjusted her aim, firing three consecutive shots as James stood up, his balance unsteady.
James seemed to anticipate her move, performing a clean front flip and then rolling to the side.
Three bullets whizzed past him.
The woman in gray gritted her teeth. She couldn't believe it. She reloaded her gun, aimed again, and fired!
Six bullets shot out in succession, but James dodged them all with deceptive movements.
James's erratic running and stopping were so precise, it seemed like he was a machine unaffected by inertia.
Eighteen shots in total, all missed!
The woman in gray began to feel frustrated. It seemed like she wasn't aiming at a person, but at a rabbit that had learned her intentions.
Her sense, judgment, and marksmanship were all failing against James.
She suddenly felt that she had taken the wrong job today.
Then, her eyelid twitched, sensing danger.
She realized that James had closed the distance during the eighteen missed shots.
James was now close to the building, climbing the rain gutter like a monkey.
Seven floors were like seven steps to James.
"Damn!" As the woman in gray muttered, James had already climbed up, grabbing the railing and leaping into the air.
He pounced like a fierce tiger, with such ferocity that the sniper rifle was useless at close range.
The woman could only roar and raise her rifle to block.
With a sharp shout, James's blade slashed down, shattering the sniper scope.
The woman's arms went numb, her blood surging, but she gritted her teeth and endured, swinging the rifle butt at James.
James ducked his head to avoid it.
The woman in gray immediately discarded the heavy sniper rifle, drawing a dagger from her left leg and slashing at James.
James didn't retreat. He raised his right hand, blocking the dagger.
A loud clash echoed as the two blades collided.
The woman groaned, retreating five or six steps, blood trickling from her mouth.
James stood his ground, his face expressionless.
He stared sharply at his opponent. "Who sent you?"
The woman in gray didn't respond, crouching in a standard military stance, ready to confront James.
"Not talking? I have ways to make you talk."
James charged forward, his figure disappearing in a flash.
The woman's face changed, quickly retreating to avoid James's slash.
Simultaneously, she flicked her hands, sending a dozen sharp throwing stars whistling through the air.
Each star gleamed menacingly.
James's blade spun lightly in the air, and the dozen throwing stars clattered to the ground.
The woman in gray cursed under her breath. "Damn it!"
"Lumaria? Seems like this is related to Aurelia."
After deflecting the throwing stars, James pressed forward with undiminished momentum.
The woman in gray, now fully serious, rapidly flicked her hands.
Various hidden weapons flew from her sleeves, enveloping James from different directions.
But none of them could harm James.
Another object flew from the woman's palm.
James instinctively wanted to slash, but seeing the woman dive to the side, he adjusted his blade and flipped forward.
Just as he touched the ground, the object behind him exploded, scattering steel balls everywhere.
The ground was left pockmarked, a chilling sight.
James lost interest in playing cat and mouse. "Time to end this."
With those words, he vanished from his spot.
The next second, he appeared in front of the woman, slashing down.
The woman shouted, "Die!"
She held her dagger with both hands, slashing fiercely at James.
Blade met blade!
The sword and dagger trembled violently. In an instant, the dagger shattered.
The woman was thrown back, flying dozens of feet before crashing into the railing and collapsing.
Blood gushed from her mouth, leaving her unable to fight.
Her clothes were torn, revealing a black cherry blossom tattoo on her chest.
James's pupils contracted instantly: Blood Medical Sect?
