Chapter 85 No One Asked You to Leave
At this moment, Brian was in a pitiful state.
But James cast a cold glance his way, devoid of any sympathy. Brian's misfortune today was nothing but retribution.
He continued cutting his steak and eating.
"James." At this moment, Jennifer and Donna's eyes turned cold; they both recognized the composed figure as James.
Brian was slightly taken aback, not expecting to run into James here, and then felt an overwhelming sense of shame.
Those who deceived others would eventually be deceived.
Jennifer and Donna, holding onto Harry's arm, glanced at James while pouting and quickly whispering something.
Soon, Harry approached with a group of people, a playful smile on his face.
Brian thought they were going to hit him again and scrambled back four or five meters.
Though angry, he knew he couldn't keep this up.
Just as James sensed the hostility, Harry grabbed a nearby wine bottle and smashed it straight onto James's table.
James sidestepped, avoiding the bottle.
The bottle shattered on the table with a bang, wine splattering everywhere, plates breaking, and the steak was ruined.
James held back Samuel, who was about to charge forward. "What are you trying to do?"
Harry's leather shoes clicked on the ground, a sinister smile playing on his lips. "James, are you the one who upset my girls?"
Hearing such an intimate address, Brian felt even more aggrieved.
James spoke calmly, "Are you looking for trouble?"
Harry sneered sarcastically. "Watch your tongue."
James furrowed his brows, "You're asking for trouble."
As soon as James finished speaking, several of Harry's companions exploded in anger, shouting uproariously, "James, you must be crazy. Do you know who's standing in front of you? He is Mr. Harry Jones. If you dare to speak to him like that again, we might find you a new home at the bottom of the river."
Harry waved his hand to silence them. "James, you're quite bold, but I prefer diplomacy before resorting to brute force. Here's what you can do. Kneel, apologize to Jennifer and Donna, pay one hundred thousand dollars in compensation, and break one of your own hands. If you do this, I won't give you any more trouble. Otherwise, I can assure you, you won't live to see another sunrise."
As he said the last sentence, his face darkened, showing a fierce and ruthless expression.
Jennifer and Donna raised their disdainful faces, finally able to vent the anger suppressed by James.
James narrowed his eyes slightly. "Get lost."
"Bastard!" Harry couldn't contain his anger. "You don't know what you are doing. Very well, let me teach you a lesson. I'll show you the consequence of messing with someone out of your league."
He signaled three bodyguards to step forward with a wave of his hand.
"Harry, who gave you the guts to teach James a lesson?" At this moment, a dozen men in black appeared at the door, Jacob with a cigar in his mouth, looking tired but spirited.
It was clear he had finished his business upstairs.
Jacob said, "James is my friend. If you dare touch him, I'll destroy you."
Jacob didn't hesitate to make his stance clear.
In the past, he would have mediated in the middle, never taking sides like this, but now, he was all in with James.
Brian was slightly surprised, not expecting Uncle Jacob to be aligned with James.
"Jacob, long time no see." Harry showed no fear upon seeing Jacob.
Harry said, "I was wondering why he was so audacious. It turns out he has you support him. But Jacob, aren't you being a bit rash? Upsetting me for such a loser doesn't seem worth it. If Aaron knows about your recklessness, would he reconsider your position?"
The bank behind Harry wasn't the top-ranked in Rosewood City, but it was second, on par with SH Corporation.
Moreover, the Jones family had recently secured a powerful ally, which gave Harry sufficient confidence to confront Jacob.
Jacob gave a cold laugh. "Have I made myself clear? James is my friend. Are you looking for trouble?"
Jacob said, glaring at Harry and snorting. "Believe it or not, I wouldn't even need Aaron's protection if I were to end you right here, right now. The Sanders family would take care of all the fallout for me."
As he spoke, the dozen or so menacing men spread out, glaring at Harry and his group.
Harry chuckled. "Aaron made a big mistake appointing you as president."
"Bastard." Jacob's eyes turned cold, "Are you trying to teach Aaron how to do his job?"
"Alright, out of respect for Jacob, I won't make things difficult for James today." Harry knew he had misspoken, licked his lips and looked at James with a smile. "James, I hope Jacob will still be by your side next time I meet you, or you might face a bloody disaster."
He extended three fingers, making a shooting gesture.
"James, you better kneel." Jennifer was eager to see James in tears. "Harry is no ordinary person. His status and background are beyond your imagination. Jacob can protect you for a moment, but not forever."
She raised her pretty face and said, "If you don't resolve this today, you'll pay a bigger price in the future. We once had a relationship. I suggest you kneel and do as Harry says before he gets angry."
Donna also chimed in, "Harry is way above your pay grade."
"You may have a good relationship with Jacob. You're skilled, but so what?"
The Jones family had assets worth hundreds of millions of dollars and a powerful backer. James couldn't afford to provoke them.
Donna had also keenly noticed that Harry's bodyguards were armed, which meant the Jones family had special privileges in Rosewood City.
Kneel to Harry?
James waved his hand to stop Jacob. "He's not worthy."
"James, what kind of attitude is that?" Harry's eyes gleamed with malice, a hint of murderous intent flashing through. "If you're unclear about how powerful the Jones family is, you can ask Jacob."
Jacob leaned in and whispered to James, "The Jones family isn't much, but they've recently found a backer and have some connection with Bryan."
"Let's go!" Seeing Jacob advise James, Harry felt triumphant and waved his hand to lead Jennifer and the others away.
"Stop. I didn't say you could leave." Suddenly, James's emotionless voice rang out coldly.
"Bastard, I'll kill you." Harry was truly furious now. He abruptly turned his head, his gaze fixed on James, his eyes filled with murderous intent.
He had decided not to hold a grudge against James, but he hadn't expected James to be so bold.
"James!" Jennifer also reprimanded, "Have you lost your mind? He's already let you off the hook tonight, and yet you're still pushing your luck. If you really push Harry to his limit, not even Jacob will be able to protect you."
Donna and the others sneered at the scene.
Indeed, one would only get into trouble if they asked for it.
Harry had clearly intended to leave, but James still wanted to provoke him.
He must be tired of living.
Brian experienced a cocktail of emotions. He realized James had more guts than he did.
"You smashed my bottle of wine, ruined my clothes, and disturbed my meal."James spoke calmly, "Kneel, apologize and compensate one hundred thousand dollars, or you'll leave here on a stretcher."
