Chapter 21

The sudden brightening of the corridor lights was so blinding that everyone almost couldn't open their eyes.

Then, a group of men and women, reeking of alcohol, walked in.

Three black-clad bodyguards followed closely behind them.

Leading the group was a long-haired youth in a skull-print shirt. An earring dangled from his ear, exuding an effeminate aura.

Without a word, he kicked Samuel, who was blocking his way, causing him to fly backward.

A chair was knocked over, and Samuel groaned as he hit the ground. The women screamed in panic and scattered away.

Samuel, in pain, got up, cursing, "Why did you hit me?"

"Shouldn't a road-blocking dog be kicked away?" the long-haired youth snorted, then walked straight to the center of the room.

Samuel, filled with rage, struggled to his feet.

"Mr. Sullivan?" Ava, who had recovered from the sudden glare, recognized the long-haired youth and rushed up to him with a girlish giggle.

She added, "You're here! I've been waiting for you for a long time."

"Samuel, this is Mr. Sullivan. You blocked his way; don't you think he has the right to be angry?"

She casually pushed the still-fuming Samuel aside.

Mary stepped forward to steady the stumbling Samuel.

Madelyn also moved closer and said, "Hello, Mr. Sullivan."

"Enough of the chit-chat," Sullivan waved his hand impatiently and said, "Where's the beauty you showed me in the photo? The one who wants to borrow money?"

"Mr. Sullivan, here," Ava quickly pulled Mary forward and said, "Mary, this is Mr. Sullivan."

Mary's eyebrows slightly furrowed. She was already repulsed by Stanley's arrogance, but considering her financial needs, she forced a smile and said, "Hello, Mr. Sullivan."

She spoke confidently, "I'm the one who wanted to discuss a loan with you."

"Oh, you're a real beauty. I thought the photo was photoshopped."

Stanley, slightly drunk, brightened at the sight of the alluring Mary. He stepped forward and leered at her, saying, "Not bad. You are beautiful."

"Ms. Smith, let's cut to the chase. We're all adults here. Fifty million dollars isn't a problem. But three months later, you'll have to pay me back sixty-five million dollars."

" Given your beauty, I'll knock off five million. But within these three months, you have to sleep with me whenever I call..."

He revealed a wicked smile and added, "Is that a problem?"

He squinted his lewd eyes, openly scanning Mary's long legs, clearly desiring to ravish her.

His companions laughed uproariously.

"Mr. Sullivan, I'm sorry, but I won't borrow this money." Before Samuel could say anything, Mary's face darkened. "I'm here to borrow money, not to sell myself."

If it weren't for Madelyn and the others, Mary would have already slapped him.

"Mary..." Ava stomped her foot and said, "Why won't you borrow the money we've worked so hard to secure?"

"Exactly, Mary. You've tried so many connections and haven't borrowed a penny. Mr. Sullivan is our last hope," Madelyn also tried to persuade her, "What's the big deal about accompanying him? Women always have to do these things. And you'll save five million dollars."

They had all borrowed money from Stanley and were unable to pay it back. They didn't dare to tell their families, so they hoped to sacrifice Mary to settle the debt.

After all, Stanley had said that if Mary were as beautiful as in the photo, he would cancel the final payment.

Now that Mary was refusing to borrow the money, weren't they being thrown back into the fire?

What kind of friends were they?

"Madelyn, Ava, how could you do this?" Mary glanced at her friends and then firmly said, "Mr. Sullivan, I'm sorry for wasting your time."

Samuel swung his fist and said, "Right, she can't borrow."

"Not borrowing?" Stanley's eyes turned cold, and he pushed Ava aside.

He added, "You arouse my interest, waste my time, and do say you won't borrow now?"

"I'm telling you, you have to borrow this money."

"If you don't want to borrow, then give me five thousand dollars as a service charge and accompany me for three days, and we can call it even."

He revealed a ferocious look and said, "Otherwise, I'll make your life hell."

Samuel stood in front of Mary and shouted, "Is this how you lend money? It's completely unreasonable..."

Before he could finish his sentence, a young man in a trench coat appeared behind Stanley and approached him so quickly that no one had time to react.

He slapped Samuel, knocking him to the ground.

Stanley looked at him with contempt and said, "Fatso, is it your turn to speak?"

A few female classmates wanted to go and help him up, but Stanley's lackeys grabbed them and slapped them twice.

After the slapping sounds, the girls had blood on their lips.

A few male classmates, filled with righteous indignation, took a couple of steps forward, but the man in the trench coat kicked them all to the ground without a word.

He was an excellent lackey.

Ava and Madelyn backed away silently. They knew Stanley's ruthless style all too well. If they tried to mediate now, they would only end up getting beaten up as well.

Mary shouted, "Stanley, you're going too far."

"So what if I am?" Stanley sneered dismissively, his face full of contempt. "What can you do about it?"

With that, he lunged forward again.

Several female classmates who were standing next to Mary were slapped by Stanley, their faces swollen. Their beauty was gone, replaced by a pitiful sight.

"The money I want to borrow, I always get. The women I fancy, I always get in bed," Stanley sneered as he approached Mary, reaching out to touch her face.

Samuel grabbed a wine bottle. But before he could hit Stanley, the man in the trench coat knocked him down with a palm strike.

Samuel coughed violently, almost vomiting blood.

"Bastard." Unable to contain herself, Mary slapped Stanley.

With a loud smack, Stanley staggered back a step.

"Mr. Sullivan!" A dozen of his accomplices rushed forward to support him and asked, "Mr. Sullivan, are you alright?"

"I'm fine!" Stanley pushed away his subordinates, stopped the trench coat man from retaliating, touched his burning cheek, and looked at Mary, saying, "Ms. Smith, you hit me."

Ava and Madelyn panicked and asked, "Mary, what are you doing?"

This was a big deal now, and they feared it might involve them.

"Shouldn't such a scum be hit?" At this moment, Mary stood in front and said, "Is this how you do business?"

She regretted why she had to deal with such a person, who was completely different from the businessmen she usually dealt with.

Though those businessmen were also profit-oriented, cunning, and scheming, they at least had some dignity.

However, Stanley had no bottom line.

"Business?" Stanley laughed indifferently, his face full of disdain and contempt.

He added, "Business is about prospering those who follow me and destroying those who oppose me."

Stanley smirked menacingly, then reached out to pinch Mary's cheek, completely unrestrained.

He seemed to be the one and only king who could look down upon any powerful existence.

"Don't touch her, or you'll regret it." A cold voice echoed from outside the door, and then James walked in.

Stanley didn't even bother to look back. Instead, he sped up his action to touch Mary.

Suddenly, James rushed forward, kicked away the lackey blocking his way, and quickly approached Stanley.

His movements were so fast that no one had time to react.

The man in the trench coat turned pale and jumped in front to block him.

Without even looking, James kicked him.

The kick sent the man in the trench coat flying, crashing into a marble table, and falling to the ground.

He had three broken ribs, spat out blood, and couldn't get up. His eyes were filled with fear. He never expected James to be so formidable.

James didn't stop. He reached out and grabbed Stanley's hand, which was about to touch Mary.

"I told you not to touch her; why don't you listen?" James said.

With a crisp sound, all of Stanley's fingers were broken.
