Chapter 455 I Am President Williams

At seven o'clock, the banquet kicked off, and everyone filed into the venue.

Marigold and her friends quickly settled down from the entrance commotion, eagerly taking their seats, all eyes peeled for the youngest president of the Mystic Alliance.

Coralie regained her usual haughty demeanor, though she seemed distracted, her eyes constantly scanning the room for James.

Once inside, James parted ways with Kaida and headed to the restroom.

When he came out, his face was slightly damp, like he had just washed it.

'Still nervous, huh? No matter how much Kaida talks him up, he can't shake off that small-town vibe,' Coralie thought, concluding that James was overwhelmed by the presence of so many big shots.

Her mind was racing.

She had been wondering how James managed to get Calista to sign a contract, make Clarence repay his debt, produce $200,000 to compensate Marigold, and even move into Leo Villa.

For a while, she thought James might actually have some remarkable abilities, and that she and Marigold had underestimated him.

But seeing Kaida holding James's hand earlier, with James following her like a docile cat, all her doubts were resolved.

James's arrogance was merely a result of clinging to Kaida. Clarence and the others were giving face to Kaida, not James.

What a joke.

Being a kept man and still acting proud? How dare he act superior in front of her?

Coralie despised men who relied on women the most! Moreover, Kaida was a few years older than James.

At that moment, James happened to pass by Coralie's table. Feeling a surge of frustration, she called out to him impulsively. "James!"

Her call drew the attention of Sidney, Marigold, and even Francis and Vance at the neighboring table.

Although they were wary of Kaida and didn't dare provoke James, their disdainful looks were clear:

A kept man.

James stopped and looked at Coralie. "What's up?"

Coralie stood tall. "You disappoint me."

James was taken aback, then smiled. "Coralie, I don't think you ever had any expectations of me."

Coralie bit her lip. "You're perfectly capable. How can you let a woman keep you?"

James replied calmly, "Being kept? Is that your judgment of me?"

"Isn't it?" she sneered.

"If you weren't being kept by Kaida, how did you get Calista to sign a contract? How did you make Clarence repay his debt? And how did you become friends with Mr. Green?"

Coralie continued, "Do you really think we believe you have the ability and resources to live in a villa worth over a billion dollars?"

"Don't be ridiculous. Without Kaida, you couldn't even afford a motel."

"And today, if Kaida hadn't intervened, do you think you could have escaped Mr. Vasquez's wrath?"

She vented her emotions, wanting everyone to know that James's success was due to Kaida. She couldn't accept that James was more enviable than her.

Marigold and the others nodded in agreement, looking down on James as someone else's kept man.

James sighed. "Coralie, you're so short-sighted, not even a tenth of Uncle Bruce. It's pathetic."

"The pathetic one is you." Coralie interrupted James without hesitation. "James, I know that since coming to Glowing Oasis, seeing how successful and outstanding I am, you feel unbalanced."

"Your family is poor, your parents are unremarkable, and you can't find a good job. Even the few days you worked were because of my arrangements."

"And I, two years younger than you, became a manager at Wish Group right after graduation, secured a contract with Cloud Sound, and became a millionaire influencer."

"You and I were once engaged. Comparing us, it's natural for you to feel a sense of disparity."

"But no matter how unbalanced you feel, you shouldn't become Kaida's kept man!"

"You may seem successful now, but it's all an illusion. Once she's tired of you, you'll be kicked to the curb."

After belittling James so thoroughly, Coralie felt a bit better. "Take care of yourself."

"James, Coralie's words may be harsh, but they're honest," Marigold chimed in sarcastically. "Being supported brings shame to your parents."

James smiled faintly. "Don't worry, the one who will be embarrassed today won't be me."

"Stop talking big," Marigold scoffed, crossing her legs and showing off her stockings. "Look at you, a young man, not as good as Coralie, and certainly not as good as tonight's president."

"I heard the president of Glowing Oasis is around your age, but he can turn the tide and reorganize the scattered Glowing Oasis," she continued. "He even earned Lancelot's praise, truly a promising man."

Marigold looked at James with disdain. "Compared to him, you're not even worth a finger."

"Crazy Bear said the new president is not only skilled but also a martial arts expert," Francis added in a low voice. "He subdued Mr. Murphy with one hand."

Hearing this, Marigold and the others gasped, surprised by the new president's strength.

Sidney also smiled. "Not only that, but he also has extensive connections. Didn't you see the Bennett, Rivera, Lee families, and even the Dragon's Breath people attending?"

Coralie and the others were shocked again. Even the Dragon's Breath respected the new president. He was extraordinary.

Marigold sat up straight. "We'll soon see the new president. I must take a good look at him."

The beautiful female guests nearby were also excited.

"Thank you all for coming. Tonight is a good night, but I know everyone is more eager to see President Williams than to hear me talk," Milo said on stage, giving a brief opening speech before waving his hand. "Now, let's welcome President Williams to say a few words."

Marigold and her friends clapped enthusiastically, craning their necks to look forward.

James smiled and began walking toward the front.

After venting, Coralie felt superior again. Seeing James walking forward, she was slightly puzzled. "James, what are you doing?"

James turned and waved. "Everyone wants to see me, so I have to show my face."

"See you?" Coralie was stunned, then laughed in exasperation. "People want to see President Williams. What are you doing up there? Do you think you're President Williams?"

She was not just disappointed but completely disgusted. She had never seen someone so pretentious.

James nodded. "That's right, I am President Williams."

As soon as he said this, Marigold and the others burst into laughter, looking at James like he was an idiot.

Vance laughed, "You're a just salesman."

Francis sneered, "Idiot, come back before Crazy Bear kills you on the spot."

Sidney yelled, "Nonsense! Do you think you can mess around in this kind of setting?"

Marigold was also anxious. "James, get back here before you get us in trouble."

"James, stop being stubborn," Coralie stomped her foot. "Just because I said a few words, you're giving up?"

She thought James was so provoked that he was deluding himself into thinking he was the president.

She took a few steps forward, trying to pull James back. "Come back."

But before Coralie could touch James, Clarence, Ollie, Gerald, Trevor, and Kaida all stood up to greet him.

"President Williams!"

Dozens of tables of dignitaries stood up, greeting James with smiles, warm and flattering.

Francis and Vance were stunned, instinctively looking at the Mystic Alliance members on the stage.

How could this be?

Ruby, Milo, Nathaniel, Mia, and Crazy Bear all bowed respectfully to James.

"Greetings, President Williams."

Hundreds of Mystic Alliance members followed suit. "Greetings, President Williams!"

James?

President Williams?

Marigold and Coralie covered their mouths tightly, trying to stifle their screams.
