Chapter 385 Unfathomable

After James nodded, Gerald fell silent, leaning against the car, lost in thought.

Clearly, he needed to sort some things out.

James didn't disturb him, his attention drawn to the Lee Manor ahead.

Compared to Raymond and Gerald's properties, the Lee Manor was even more grandiose.

It occupied an entire mountain, with a long wall encircling it. Seventy-two buildings, each with considerable space.

The most impressive part was that, besides all the living facilities, there was even a temple.

Over a thousand family members lived there, served by more than two thousand bodyguards and servants. They had roads for cars, boats, and helicopters, with luxury cars, yachts, and helicopters all available.

The six branches of the Lee family were mostly based here.

Trevor lived in the highest building, facing the river, with countless boats passing by.

This place was also a landmark of Glowing Oasis, attracting many tourists to take photos at the foot of the mountain.

Seeing this, James couldn't help but marvel at the power of wealth. He also began to understand why Charles wanted to build Cloud Top Mountain.

This sense of being above everything did indeed feel like being a king.

When James and Gerald arrived at the Lee Manor, the entrance was bustling with activity. Dozens of minivans and RVs were slowly driving in.

The cars had license plates from various places: Cloud City, Stone City, Rosewood City, and Stardust City, many looking travel-worn.

Gerald picked up his phone to make an inquiry, then smiled at James. "The Lee family has offered a ten-billion-dollar reward, seeking renowned doctors to treat Trevor."

His tone was playful. "So, anyone with a bit of reputation has come, bringing their teams and equipment. Even Daryl Fields from Stardust City has come out of retirement."

"Ten billion dollars?" James exclaimed in surprise. "That's quite a sum."

Although James had extorted twenty billion dollars from Credit Stealer, that was a life-or-death situation.

This was the first time James had seen a family offer such a huge reward, no wonder famous doctors from all over had rushed over.

At the same time, James was puzzled. Why would Isaac offer such a reward to save Trevor?

Logically, he should be delaying as much as possible until Trevor died.

But James kept his thoughts to himself, choosing to watch and see what would happen.

Seeing Gerald's car, the Lee family guards immediately went to report.

Before long, a group of well-dressed men and women came out to greet them.

Leading them was an elderly man with white hair, small in stature, slightly hunched, but walking with a vigorous stride, clearly a decisive person.

Gerald whispered to James, "Isaac."

"Mr. Rivera, what an honor to have you here."

Isaac strode forward, his smile radiant.

"Mr. Lee is gravely ill and bedridden, unable to greet you personally. Please forgive us."

He glanced at James and the other doctors, his expression warm and sincere.

Gerald got out of the car with James and the others, shaking Isaac's hand with a smile. "I heard you offered a ten-billion-dollar reward, so I brought a medical team to join the fun."

He subtly made their purpose seem reasonable.

Isaac laughed heartily. "You must be joking. Your family is also on of the top five wealthy families in Celestia."

"Still, thanks for your kindness. It's our luck to have you as our friend."

Isaac was equally smooth, shaking hands with James and the others, sincerely thanking them for their efforts.

"I was seriously ill a while ago, and this medical team cured me."

Gerald smiled warmly. "Now hearing that Mr. Lee is seriously ill, I brought them over to see if they could help."

"After all, I've known Mr. Lee for many years, and he has helped me greatly."

He sighed. "If I don't do my part, I'd be ashamed of our friendship."

"Mr. Rivera, you're too kind. We deeply appreciate your thoughtfulness."

Isaac nodded slightly. "Please, come inside. Today, doctors from all over are consulting. Mr. Lee is in the Sky Pavilion. He'll be very happy to see you."

Gerald smiled. "Let's go."

With Isaac personally leading the way, James and the others quickly reached the mountaintop in a patrol car, then entered the nearly thousand-square-foot Sky Pavilion.

The Sky Pavilion stood at the mountain's peak, near the cliff's edge. Opening the windows revealed the vast river below, and in the distance, the largest bridge in Glowing Oasis.

The view was spectacular.

As James entered the hall, he saw not only a dozen bodyguards and servants but also dozens of renowned doctors from various places.

At the far end of the hall was a wooden bed, covered with a quilt, where a frail old man lay.

The old man, about seventy, was emaciated, his face sallow and gaunt, his cheeks sunken, and his eyes hollow. His exposed arm was as thin as a stick.

Standing 5.9 feet tall, he looked like he weighed only 110 pounds, indicating severe physical deterioration.

Advanced medical equipment surrounded him, monitoring his vital signs with flashing lights.

This was clearly Trevor.

At that moment, dozens of doctors were lined up, taking turns checking Trevor's pulse and examining him.

Next to Trevor stood an elderly man in gray and a middle-aged, overweight woman.

The elderly man was small and thin, with age spots on his face.

He watched Trevor's condition while apologizing to the diagnosing doctors, "I'm truly sorry for my incompetence."

He was the Lee family's personal doctor, Alfonso.

The overweight woman, wearing a mask, remained silent, like a wooden statue, not drawing attention. But James sensed a cold aura from her.

Alfonso faced the crowd, raising his voice. "To avoid wasting everyone's time, let me first show you Mr. Lee's condition."

As James watched curiously, Alfonso carefully lifted Trevor's left hand and rolled up his sleeve.

The doctors initially seemed indifferent, but their expressions changed dramatically upon seeing it.

James and Gerald's eyes widened in shock.

Trevor's left arm was covered in scars, crisscrossing in various depths, all with a fierce intensity, cutting deep into the flesh.

It was a horrifying sight.

Judging by the scars, they had been inflicted over the past few months, some only recently scabbed over.

What kind of pain and pressure could drive someone to such self-harm?

Seeing this, twenty of the thirty-five doctors immediately withdrew.

The remaining fifteen, though still in line, lost much of their arrogance, diagnosing Trevor while consulting Alfonso.

They wanted to ensure they didn't miss anything in their diagnosis.

Alfonso answered each question and shared the medical records from recent days.

James didn't pay much attention to Alfonso's explanations, more focused on the elderly doctor in deep thought.

"Father, Mr. Rivera..." Isaac was about to inform the old man of Gerald's arrival, but Gerald gently stopped him.

Gerald spoke calmly, "No need for formalities, let the doctors treat Mr. Lee first."

Isaac nodded lightly. "Mr. Rivera, you're very considerate."

Gerald then looked at an elderly man with a youthful face ahead.

"I didn't expect Daryl to come. He's been retired for ten years."

Daryl, about eighty, wore a long robe and hat, exuding a faint medicinal scent.

He was once a top doctor in Stardust City.

"Twelve years, actually." Isaac smiled. "My father has some connection with Daryl, and he recently learned a lost acupuncture technique. After my pleading, he came out of retirement."

Gerald clasped his hands behind his back. "With him here, Mr. Lee will surely turn misfortune into fortune."

"You probably won't be needed, but since you're here, you might as well add to the effort." He waved his hand at James and the others.

James stepped forward, leading the doctors to join the line.

Fifteen doctors, two at a time, took turns examining Trevor. James waited a while before it was his turn.

The previous group included Daryl, who frowned as he diagnosed, asking Alfonso about other details.

Alfonso respectfully answered his questions.

After fifteen minutes, Daryl finally stepped aside.

Though Trevor was barely conscious, he still had a sliver of awareness. When doctors greeted him, he nodded slightly, occasionally saying thank you.

Alfonso diligently attended to him.

The middle-aged woman remained motionless, head down, as if everything was unrelated to her.

When it was James's turn, he pretended to check the medical instruments, then discreetly diagnosed Trevor.

In just a few seconds, James's expression changed, his eyes filled with disbelief as he stared intently at Trevor.

Trevor didn't speak, only slightly widening his eyes, staring back at James.

Those eyes were like an abyss, unfathomable.
