Chapter 34
The next morning, after the three members of the Smith family left for work, James quickly finished the housework and prepared to go to the job market to look for work.
Mary hoped he would find a job; he always needed to have a job as a shield.
Before he could leave, Olivia's call came in, "Little lifesaver, where are you?"
Her tone was as gentle as a spring breeze. "Are you free now?"
James's expression tightened. He asked, "Ms. Lee, what's wrong? Is something wrong with Sophia?"
Sophia was the first person he had saved, and being so young, James didn't want anything to happen to her.
Olivia revealed a touch of emotion and said, "No, Sophia's condition has stabilized; she's no longer in danger."
James sighed in relief and said, "That's good to hear Sophia's fine. What can I do for you? Ms. Lee?"
"James, don't call me Ms. Lee; call me Olivia," Olivia said with a helpless smile, "You are Sophia's savior; calling me Ms. Lee is too formal."
"Alright, I'll call you Olivia then," James hesitated for a moment and said, "But you shouldn't call me little lifesaver either, just James will do."
Olivia chuckled, "Okay, I'll call you James."
James asked, "What's the matter? Olivia."
"It's like this, one of my elders suddenly fell ill half a month ago, often feeling a terrible storm in his stomach."
She explained, "He only feels better when he eats something cold."
"Once he eats something warm or drinks hot water, he becomes extremely pained and even faints."
"He has been to many hospitals and seen many doctors, but there's been no improvement, and his nerves are getting weaker."
"In less than half a month, he has lost 22 pounds and is extremely weak in spirit."
"Last night, he gathered enough strength to go out for dinner, but then he fainted in the parking lot, nearly losing his life."
"Since your medical skills saved Sophia twice, I thought of asking for your help."
Olivia had absolute trust in James and asked, "Would you come with me to see him?"
"I can take a look." James agreed without hesitation. "But I can't guarantee that I can cure him."
He knew that Olivia wouldn't bother him unless she had no other choice and they were on good terms.
"Thank you so much." Olivia was ecstatic. "James, send me your address, and I'll come to pick you up."
After hanging up, James slapped his forehead, remembering Mary's three rules. If she found out he was going to save someone, he would be in trouble.
He reminded himself to align his story with Olivia's.
Soon, a Ferrari stopped at the villa's gate, the window rolled down, and there was Olivia's stunningly beautiful face.
She had shaken off the haggard and despair from the time of Sophia's accident, now radiating her original charm and color like a flower on the verge of wilting blooming anew.
She leaned elegantly and lazily against the seat, saying, "James, get in."
Her eyes were like a painting, misty as smoke, rippling with an astonishing allure.
Looking at her, James was slightly stunned, inexplicably feeling breathless.
During their previous encounters, his attention had been so focused on saving Sophia that he barely noticed Olivia. But now, upon closer inspection, he realized she was undeniably a person of significant stature.
He took a deep breath, grabbed a box of silver needles, and got into the car.
The car's interior was fragrant, especially Olivia's legs, dazzlingly white and dizzying.
"Should we let Ms. Smith know?" Olivia smiled seductively, blooming like a night-blooming flower, stunningly beautiful.
"No need, let's go," James said indifferently.
Olivia glanced at James, finding his calm expression and clear gaze devoid of any lustful thoughts.
She was surprised by James's self-control.
She was well aware of her charm, and in the entirety of Rosewood City, aside from a few old men, no one could resist her allure.
What a special young man!
Olivia's interest intensified, and then she suddenly exclaimed, leaning towards James.
James instinctively reached out, supporting half of her body, but Olivia's soft right hand slid into the middle of James's seat.
A gentle grasp.
James's body instantly stiffened.
Olivia leaned close to James's ear, her hot breath tantalizing. "I thought I had lost my charm."
At 10:00 a.m., the car pulled into a tranquil, sprawling estate. The property, teeming with servants and bodyguards, boasted a unique architecture that soaked up sunlight beautifully. It was clearly a wealthy household.
James followed Olivia into the hall, even more astonished by the items placed around her.
A nearly ten thousand square feet hall was a sea of antiques.
There were paintings, porcelain, war sabers, jade stones, and even mummies worth at least a billion dollars.
It was incredibly luxurious.
"Olivia, long time no see; what brings you here?" While James was curiously observing the environment, a coughing sound suddenly came from the second floor.
Then, they saw several men and women escorting an old man down.
The old man was tall but thin, and due to his drastic weight loss, he looked like a bamboo pole.
James recognized him at a glance; it was the old man who had fainted at the entrance of the Wealthy Restaurant the previous night.
He inwardly noted how small the world really was.
"Uncle Raymond, I didn't want to come either; my daughter is still in the hospital," Olivia chuckled, leading James upstairs. "But hearing that your health is deteriorating, I brought James to see you."
The two families were obviously very close, so their conversation was relaxed.
Hearing about the deteriorating health, their brows furrowed with sorrow.
Clearly, everyone knew that if the old man continued like this, he wouldn't last a month.
"Your concern is appreciated." The old man laughed. "But don't be sad for me; life and death are fated; I've seen through it as a wealthy man."
"By the way, how's Sophia doing?"
"Is her injury serious?"
The old man's words were caring. "I just auctioned a few ginseng roots; you can take them back for Sophia later."
"Thank you for your concern; Sophia is safe now, out of danger," Olivia said.
She introduced James with a smile, "James, this is Mr. Clark, an antique expert in Rosewood City."
"This is my savior, James; he's the one who saved Sophia."
"I brought him here today to take a look at you."
She revealed her purpose.
"James? Saved Sophia?"
Raymond Clark smiled as he shook hands with James, saying, "Such a young age and already possessing the skill to bring back the dead, a young hero indeed, James; thank you for your efforts."
James hurriedly responded, "Mr. Clark, you're too kind. Olivia's friend is also my friend."
At the same time, he turned the Life Gem.
The situation was still the same as last night's diagnosis.
Although he had used acupuncture to save Raymond the previous evening, the last needle was knocked away by the Givenchy girl, missing the chance to force out the poison all at once.
Overnight, Raymond's toxins had spread again, facing life and death.
Just then, the girl from last night ran down from upstairs, saying, "It's you again, you swindler."
She was shocked to see James, then became furious and said, "You swindler, you almost killed my grandfather last night, and dare you to come to our house today?"
She pointed at James and shouted, "Somebody, grab him and take him to the police station."
