Chapter 461 Dane Arrives
The room went dead silent as the woman was sent flying.
In the Mystic Alliance, law enforcement was practically worshipped. They were the embodiment of authority and Lancelot's supreme will.
Even though Terrence was secretly disliked, he was always treated with the utmost respect wherever he went.
They had never been humiliated like this before.
The woman lay on the ground, clutching her face in anger and disbelief. "How dare you hit me?"
James kept his cool. "I'm the president of Glowing Oasis. What right does a law enforcement trainee have to talk to me like that?"
"Besides, Mr. Wheeler hasn't even spoken, and you, a mere student, dare to speak out? Do you think he's dead?"
"Law enforcement always emphasizes seniority. Let me teach you a lesson about respect."
James scolded the woman while slapping her hard, leaving her dazed and speechless.
A few of her companions instinctively stepped forward to intervene, but Francis kicked them away without hesitation.
With one final slap, James knocked out two of the woman's teeth, then grabbed her by the hair and said, "Remember, you need to learn to respect your elders and care for the young, or someone will teach you how to behave."
He threw her to the ground and then walked towards Terrence. "Mr. Wheeler, I apologize for overstepping and disciplining someone rude. I hope you don't mind."
He wiped his hands with a tissue.
"James, you've gone too far!" Terrence finally reacted, slamming the table and shouting. "You dare to hit a law enforcement member? Do you have any respect for me or the Mystic Alliance?"
James smiled faintly. "Mr. Wheeler, are you blind? Didn't you see her offend me?"
"Disrespecting a superior is a grave offense in the Mystic Alliance. If you can't even handle this, how can you manage me or Glowing Oasis?"
He looked at Terrence coldly. "The cornerstone of law enforcement is fairness. Without fairness, there's no need for its existence."
"James, are you rebelling?" Terrence accused him of a serious crime. "Are you challenging the dignity of the Mystic Alliance and the authority of law enforcement?"
A dozen law enforcement members stepped forward, ready to take James down.
"I'm not challenging you," James said without a trace of fear. "I just don't accept your accusations."
"If I were guilty of bullying or killing innocents, I would willingly kneel and accept punishment. But in the battle at Maple Hill, I did nothing wrong."
"Dane issued a challenge, and I bravely accepted. I should be rewarded, not punished."
"If we only fight when we're sure to win, where's the honor in that? Where's the victory or defeat?"
"So, I refuse to kneel and accept punishment. If you're worried that my loss will disgrace the Mystic Alliance, then report me to Lancelot and have me expelled."
"But until then, no one can stop me from fighting, and don't think you can punish me for this."
James's voice grew stern. "And Mr. Wheeler, you owe me an explanation for those whips on Ruby and the others."
Ruby and her companions instinctively called out, "President..."
"James, I've seen many arrogant people, but none as reckless as you," Terrence laughed maniacally. "I came to punish you, and now you demand an explanation from me?"
"Let me tell you something, even if I beat them to death, I don't owe anyone an explanation."
"You, just a president, a pawn Lancelot uses to stir up trouble in Glowing Oasis, what right do you have to challenge me?"
"And do you even know my true strength? You think I'm just an old man propped up by reputation?"
"You're wrong." Suddenly, a powerful aura erupted from Terrence, like a fierce wind blowing through the room, making everyone tense up.
"I'll give you one last chance. Kneel and accept punishment, then come with me to Stardust City to atone, or I'll cripple you today."
Terrence's aura grew even more intense.
Just as Terrence was about to teach James a lesson, a commotion erupted outside, accompanied by screams.
James's eyes narrowed, and he rushed towards the door.
Terrence and the others followed to see what was happening.
"President Williams! Dane is here." As James reached the entrance, a Mystic Alliance member ran up, panting. "Dane's people have stormed our basement and rescued Primrose and Manuel."
Ruby and the others were shocked. "What? Dane sent people to rescue them? Are they looking for death?"
On Glowing Oasis territory, no matter how many people Dane sent, it wouldn't make a difference.
"Now you've really caused trouble," Terrence scolded James. "Look at what you've done. Even I wouldn't provoke Dane, but you keep opposing them. You're asking for death."
"Today they rescue people, tomorrow they'll kill. This won't end until one of us is dead."
"Glowing Oasis and even the entire Mystic Alliance will be dragged down by you."
The beaten woman also looked pleased with James's predicament.
James said nothing, just stared ahead.
Several Lumaria men and women emerged from the basement, carrying Primrose and the others.
They moved swiftly and ruthlessly, easily defeating the dozens of Mystic Alliance members trying to stop them.
"Surround them!" Ruby and Mia commanded, leading dozens of guards into the fray.
Crazy Bear also joined the fight despite his injuries.
With these three main forces joining, the enemy's advance was halted, and the battle became evenly matched.
Soon, more Mystic Alliance members arrived, hundreds of them, surrounding Dane's people.
At that moment, a business car parked at the entrance suddenly opened its door.
An elderly man with long hair draped over his shoulders, wearing a white robe, stepped out. He walked forward, his robe billowing in the wind, looking like an immortal.
Nearly a hundred Mystic Alliance members tried to stop him, but his aura alone made them retreat involuntarily.
"Attack!" Crazy Bear roared, coordinating with Ruby and Mia to strike.
The elderly man continued walking, casually waving his sleeve.
The three were instantly thrown back, spitting blood, and fell heavily to the ground. They were unstoppable.
"Flowing Clouds Flying Sleeve," Terrence exclaimed. "Dane?"
James's eyes narrowed, realizing Dane himself had come.
Dane locked eyes with James, walking leisurely, occasionally waving his sleeve.
Nearly a hundred members trying to block him were thrown aside like waves, unable to touch him.
His white robe fluttered, and he moved with grace and power.
