Chapter 372 Olivia's Invitation
Seeing James make a phone call with a laid-back attitude, Vance and his team couldn't help but burst into laughter.
"James, I need you to handle these two long-time clients. Who'd you call?" Vance sneered.
"Don't call your broke relatives to buy our company's products just to boost your sales. They can't afford it."
Vance looked at James with a mocking expression. "And we don't sell for three or five thousand dollars."
"I called Ms. Day and Ms. Harper," James replied calmly, putting away his phone. "They'll be here soon to sign the contracts."
"Enough, James!" Vance's smile vanished, replaced by a stern look. "This is a serious company, not your rural playground for bragging and showing off."
Calista and Anneliese were known for being beautiful but difficult and demanding, often haggling over prices. The sales team had failed countless times to renew their contracts.
Even Vance, with his good looks and the backing of his uncle Milo, couldn't get Calista and Anneliese to sign.
And now James, who had been working for less than an hour and wasn't even familiar with the products, claimed he could handle it with a single phone call? Ridiculous.
A pretty female employee sneered, "Mr. Murphy, this guy sure talks big."
Another female employee raised her delicate chin mockingly. "Solving two contracts with one phone call? Is he some heir to a wealthy family showing off?"
A third glamorous woman smirked, "Bragging isn't done like this."
James responded calmly, "Just wait half an hour."
"James, are you still pretending? What's the point?" Coralie couldn't hold back, her face cold and stern. "You're a broke nobody who only got this job because of me. How do you plan to sign those contracts? Do you think I believe you can do it?"
She was furious. "You won't get it done. Apologize to Mr. Murphy and everyone now!"
At this moment, Coralie was extremely disappointed in James. It was one thing to be poor and incompetent, but to repeatedly boast was too much.
Others might not know James's background and could be fooled by him, but Coralie knew him well. His father worked on a ship doing hard labor, his mother sold coffee and had been seriously ill, and James hadn't worked for a year, freeloading at Bruce's place in Glowing Oasis.
How could someone like him solve a contract with a single phone call, especially in a place as unfamiliar as Glowing Oasis? Coralie found it laughable.
Did he have the connections? Did he have the influence?
Coralie considered telling Bruce to take James back and give him a thousand dollars to send him back to Rosewood City.
"I won't apologize because there's no problem with these contracts," James said, pulling out a chair and sitting down. "Just wait, they will be here soon. Mr. Murphy, remember to make me permanent and give me my commission. Oh, and my saved-up week off."
"Fine, I promise you, all of it," Vance laughed, giving James a thumbs-up. "But if you don't get it done today, you're out."
Vance's face turned serious. "The Wish Group doesn't need clueless employees like you."
James responded calmly, "Deal."
"James, what's happened to you?" Coralie's face was filled with disappointment. "I shouldn't have introduced you here. You're just embarrassing me."
"I know you have feelings for me and want to impress me, hoping I'll look up to you or accept you. I get it, but you can't keep up this act. It only makes me dislike you more."
"And I've already told you, there's no chance between us. The childhood promise my dad made was just drunken talk. Clinging to that promise to win me over is pointless."
Coralie saw James as a freeloader, trying to avoid decades of hard work by clinging to her. Why couldn't he see reality?
She was out of his league.
"Coralie, don't be mad. An hour will pass quickly, and then I'll kick him out," Vance said, handing Coralie a cup of coffee to comfort her. "You've done your best. You can explain to your parents."
Several female employees looked at Coralie sympathetically, surprised she was entangled with someone like James, who made her look foolish.
"Mr. Murphy won't be able to kick me out," James said, sipping his water leisurely.
"James, stop pretending," Coralie said, calming down and waving her hand weakly. "Just leave. Don't wait for Mr. Murphy to kick you out. Save some face for both of us."
She was utterly disappointed in James.
Just then, the elevator doors suddenly opened, and a group of well-dressed men and women walked out.
Leading the group were two stunning women with similar figures and strong presence.
Dressed in international brands, they exuded elegance and luxury, adorned with jewelry that made people hesitate to approach.
Wearing large sunglasses, they walked side by side, their every move captivating.
They entered and removed their sunglasses, revealing two exquisite faces.
It was Calista and Anneliese.
"Is Mr. Williams here?" Calista asked. "We're here to renew the contracts."
Everyone was stunned.
They really came.
They couldn't believe James had actually called Calista and Anneliese over, and they agreed to renew the contracts without any negotiation.
What shocked Coralie the most was the respectful demeanor of both Calista and Anneliese, as if James was someone important.
Vance's eyelids twitched. "How is this possible?"
The female sales team felt their cheeks burn, realizing James's counterattack was loud and clear.
"Perfect timing," James said, standing up and tossing the contracts over. "Wish Group's products are decent. Just renew the contracts."
Treating clients like this? Not only lacking respect but also commanding?
Coralie and the others were dazed.
What shocked them even more was that Calista and Anneliese signed the substantial contracts without hesitation.
Though they hadn't fully understood James's background, the breakfast incident with Kaida had made them realize they needed to build a good relationship with James.
Olivia might be blinded by love, but someone who could make Kaida cook breakfast was no ordinary person.
So they signed the contracts without hesitation, even happily.
James smiled and shook hands with the two women. "Thank you both."
"It's our pleasure," Calista and Anneliese smiled. "We hope for a pleasant cooperation."
Calista discreetly leaned closer to James and whispered in his ear, "Olivia will be waiting for you at Riverfront World at 3:30 PM."
