Chapter 71 Departed in a Huff
"Hello, James." David politely shook hands with James, though a hint of disdain flickered in his eyes.
David extended a courteous handshake to James, yet a flicker of doubt darted through his eyes. He wished to hold James in esteemed respect, but James's youthful age made it hard for him to accept that he was a proficient doctor.
He suspected that Patrick and Skylar, desperate for a child, had been inadvertently deceived by James.
However, he did not expose this. Patrick was in high spirits, and David did not want to dampen his enthusiasm.
Patrick chuckled and said to James, "David has been having a rough time with his health lately. He's either dealing with excruciating neck pain or getting leg cramps in the middle of the night. There were even a couple of times when he nearly had a heart attack while taking his afternoon nap. Maybe you can help him out."
Patrick smiled at James and said, "Don't worry about the fee. He has plenty of money."
David laughed heartily. "Neck pain and leg cramps are just from sitting too long, and the heart issue was a fluke."
But Patrick was very interested. "Come on, James, take a look for him."
David, somewhat helpless, sat up straight and chuckled. "Well. Let's have James give me a check-up."
When James shook David's hand earlier, he had already noticed that David was surrounded by negative energy.
Negative energy was an ill omen formed by the condensation of bad things and auras.
Attending church activities during Christmas was to dispel negative energy and prevent it from entering the home.
But now, James saw black negative energy in David.
Negative energy had already enveloped most of his body, leaving only his neck and head untouched. It was even more severe than Mary's condition had been.
James followed the trail of dark energy and found that the source was David's left hand.
He was fiddling with an Audi car key, which was black as ink and continuously emitting negative energy.
"Mr. David, you have a lot of negative energy on you." James's sharp eyes fixed on David as he spoke, "It not only brings you constant danger but also affects those around you. If I'm not mistaken, not only have you had physical accidents, but your family members also have various symptoms."
Patrick and Skylar were slightly taken aback, not expecting the medical consultation to turn into fortune-telling.
David, after a moment of surprise, his expression turned serious.
David asked, "Really? Do I have negative energy? Where did this negative energy come from?"
James pointed at the car key and replied, "The source is the car key in your hand."
"Car key?" David said.
David thought to himself, 'What is this guy babbling about? Leg cramps, neck pain, and heart arrhythmia are physical ailments. What do they have to do with a car key? Is this some joke?'
David's face grew grim.
He had agreed to let James take a look out of respect for the Patrick couple, but James had come up with such a thing.
The Patrick couple rubbed their eyes, scrutinizing the car key, but found nothing unusual.
James nodded. "Yes, the car key. Or, more precisely, it's your car that's the source."
David ignored James and turned to Patrick. "Mr. Sanders, Mrs. Sanders, this young man you introduced sure knows how to joke."
His tone was unfriendly.
Patrick hesitated for a moment. "Mr. Miller, James is not joking. I suggest you listen to him."
Before discovering the secret formula, the Patrick couple might have thought James was exaggerating, but now they inexplicably believed what James said.
James pressed further. "Mr. Miller, has your car ever been to a cemetery or come into contact with anything bad?"
"No." David shook his head without hesitation. "It's a new car, just registered a month ago. It hasn't been to a cemetery, nor has it come into contact with anything bad."
His tone was unfriendly. "I don't even have a talisman hanging in the car."
James said, "This shouldn't be."
James slightly furrowed his brows and said, "The source of the negative energy is your car, Mr. David. Could I possibly take a look at your Audi?"
"No. Thanks," David dismissed quickly. "The car is fine, and so am I."
David was losing patience. The more earnest James became, the more ludicrous it all seemed. However, Patrick held James in high regard, so David held back from voicing his complaints.
James continued, "Mr. David, please reconsider. Has anyone in your family or any of your subordinates driven the car..."
"No, absolutely not!" David snapped. "It's a new car. I'm the only one who's driven it."
James looked even more troubled. "But the source is indeed the car."
"Stop!" David barked, "You're young, and rather than dedicating yourself to something of substance, you're mastering the art of deception. You may have fooled Patrick and Skylar, but you can't fool me."
David added. "I'm sorry, Patrick, Skylar, I need to leave now. Let's catch up some other time."
David thought, 'This young man, with so much potential, chooses to resort to such trickery. What's more audacious is that he dares to try and pull the wool over my eyes. This is simply beyond belief!'
If it weren't for Patrick, David would have called the police to have James arrested and interrogated to see who else he had deceived.
David also decided to investigate James's JZL Medical Hall thoroughly to prevent him from harming others.
"David! David!" Patrick stood up and called out, "Don't go. James wouldn't lie to you."
David said, "Patrick, I don't know what's gotten into you believing in such nonsense."
David snorted at James. "I advise you to stay away from these frauds, or you'll end up being deceived. A businessman should focus on doing business honestly, not getting involved in such nonsense."
David even scolded the Patrick couple.
James chased after him, and Patrick and Skylar followed.
Soon, James saw David walking towards an Audi.
The car was completely shrouded in black energy.
When David pressed the key, the negative energy surged, reaching its peak.
Both the man and the car were enveloped, and only a faint, clear spot remained on David's forehead.
He was on the brink of disaster.
James ran up and said, "Mr. Miller, you can't leave. You're in the most dangerous moment."
"Patrick, let's meet another day." David ignored James, waved to the Patrick couple, and started the car to leave.
James quickly tore a piece of red paper from the entrance of Enchanted Vine Tavern, then bit his finger and swiftly drew a charm.
"Patrick. Please give this charm to Mr. David. He must accept it." James handed the charm to Patrick. "Otherwise, he won't make it through today."
Patrick was startled by this and immediately ran up with the charm.
Not long after, Patrick returned, wiping the sweat from his forehead and smiling.
Patrick said, "That guy is really stubborn. In the end, he only reluctantly put it in his pocket when I was about to lose my temper."
Then he asked James in a low voice. "James, will David really be in danger?"
James sighed softly. "I hope he survives."
