Chapter 66 Caught in a Trap
Mark had intended to stop, but upon hearing this, he delivered a series of slaps, causing Daniel's face to swell.
Daniel said, "Master, I'm sorry."
Daniel, after dodging for a while, hurriedly ran to James and knelt with a thud.
Daniel added. "I was wrong. I'm sorry."
He was both frightened and aggrieved, never expecting that in trying to show off, he would run into the young master and even confront him.
He knew that if he didn't admit his mistake, Mark would knock his teeth out.
Jennifer could hardly believe the scene before her. A man she had abandoned had suddenly become so imposing.
She murmured to herself, "Impossible, impossible."
"Get up. You didn't know. It's not your fault." James helped Daniel up. "Just remember in the future, practicing medicine is not for showing off, or you might endanger lives."
Had he not been present today, with Daniel's medical skills, Kelsey would have suffered greatly.
Daniel nodded repeatedly. "Understood, understood. Thank you for the lesson, Master."
James no longer paid attention to Daniel.
James explained, "This acupuncture method can revive Kelsey's muscle vitality, but it cannot unblock her blood vessels. It's like a canal; no matter how well the sides are built or how beautifully it's planted, if the ditch is clogged with silt, the water won't flow."
James turned to look at Mark and Bradley. "So it can halt Kelsey's condition but cannot make her stand up from the wheelchair."
"What, it can't cure her." Mark looked disappointed. "I was hoping to use it to cure Kelsey."
James smiled calmly and said, "The Nine Palace Reviving Needle can be used, but it needs to be supplemented with another set of acupuncture techniques."
Bradley knelt with a thud. "I beg Mr. Williams to help."
Hope gleamed in Kelsey's eyes as well.
James waved his hand and said, "Bring the needles."
Mark quickly took out his silver needles and respectfully placed them before James.
After disinfecting the needles, James's fingers moved lightly, and the needles swiftly pierced various points on Kelsey's calves.
Soon, eighteen silver needles produced six red lines.
The red lines slowly spread along the meridians.
"Red lines, red lines!" Olivia and Kelsey exclaimed in amazement and asked, "How can there be red lines?"
Bradley watched the spreading red lines with excitement. He had seen this scene in his grandfather's hands, but there were only three red lines.
He vaguely remembered his grandfather saying that this was a long-lost medical technique.
He had learned three needles from an incomplete book, spending his entire life producing three red lines, while the peak could produce nine red lines. Although James only produced six, he was only in his twenties. Given time, he would surely reach the peak.
This young man was extraordinary.
He saw the red lines spreading to the knees, and Kelsey's calves slightly trembled, indicating sensation.
He had to cling to this talent. Mark also trembled slightly, realizing that James was even more formidable than he had imagined.
Ten minutes later, the six red lines penetrated Kelsey's soles, and waves of heat surged from her feet. James also stopped manipulating the needles.
He exhaled deeply as if all his strength had been drained.
James said, "It's basically done. After warming for ten minutes, Kelsey's legs will regain sensation."
At this moment, Jennifer pushed James aside, rushed to Kelsey, and reached out to pull the needles from her legs.
Jennifer shouted, "She can't be treated!"
Olivia, prepared, kicked Jennifer, who screamed and fell straight back.
She quickly got up and rushed again. "She can't be treated."
Bradley also slapped her hard.
Jennifer asked, "Bradley, why did you hit me?"
Jennifer cried out in grief from the ground. "I'm doing this for Kelsey's good. James can't treat her. He'll harm her."
She knew the situation was hopeless, but she was really unwilling to give up, thinking of the five-million-dollar house.
Whether she hired someone to save Kelsey or Kelsey's condition worsened and she died, the house would end up in her hands.
But she hadn't anticipated the sudden appearance of James.
If he cured Kelsey, the $7.5 million would be gone.
Jennifer couldn't accept this; it was her only chance to become a wealthy socialite. $7.5 million was far better than Brian's mere hundreds of thousands.
"Do you take me for a fool?" Bradley bellowed solemnly. "Did you believe Kelsey and I were oblivious to your intentions? We were prepared to overlook your actions, considering our ties, as long as you didn't overstep your bounds. But today, you've crossed that line. I thought your interest was merely in our assets, but I never expected you'd gamble with Kelsey's life for it."
Bradley tore off her pretense. "Being greedy and hypocritical is one thing, but being this malicious? Don't blame me for cutting ties with you."
Jennifer's face turned pale. She hadn't expected her intentions to be so transparent.
Daniel seized the opportunity to say, "Grandpa, it was she who persuaded me to treat Kelsey, saying that if I cured her, the house would be hers, and she would stay with me for three months. If I failed, she would leave a good impression on Mr. Bradley and stay with me for three days."
Mark slapped Daniel again, knocking him over. "Useless fool."
"Get out, get out of my sight. I never want to see you again." Bradley glared at Jennifer. "Let me tell you, forget about getting this house. Today, I'm giving it to James."
"No!" Jennifer screamed. "How can you do this? I'm your relative, and James is an outsider. Why give the house to him?"
"Why?" Bradley snorted. "Because I want to, and because he cured Kelsey."
Jennifer shouted in frustration, "He doesn't know any medical skills. He's deceiving you. He can't make Kelsey stand up."
Before she could finish, she was stunned, looking at Kelsey in disbelief.
At that moment, Kelsey was slowly standing up with the help of her wheelchair. Her face was filled with joy, and she said happily, "My legs have strength; I can feel them."
Bradley and Olivia were also dumbfounded, never expecting Kelsey to stand up so quickly.
"Don't move yet," James said, helping her back to the wheelchair. "You need to rest in the wheelchair for three more days, taking the medicine I prescribe six times, and then you can start exercising."
Kelsey smiled. "I'll do as you say."
James wrote the prescription, and Kelsey glanced at it, her eyes sparkling. The handwriting was strong and vigorous as if the essence of the words had been condensed onto the paper. It was beautiful.
Kelsey looked at the writing, then at her legs, and finally at James, feeling a growing curiosity about this doctor.
Olivia instinctively held James's hand.
Seeing Kelsey stand up, Jennifer angrily pounded the floor and then ran off, biting her lip. If she didn't leave, she feared Bradley would kill her.
Just as she sprinted the distance of 33 feet, James calmly said, "Given our past relationship, I'll let you in on something. Brian is battling late-stage lung cancer and doesn't have much time left. If there's anything you're hoping to gain, you'd better act fast. Otherwise, when he's gone, you'll be left with no title or status, and you'll be forced to return the bar investment to the Robinson family."
Jennifer's face turned pale, and she disappeared from James's sight.
Bradley, realizing what had happened, rushed to Kelsey, wanting to say something, but instead burst into tears. He then grasped James's hand and exclaimed, "I will never forget your kindness in treating her. A mere house is not enough to express our gratitude. I have decided to respect you as my master from now on. Master, Brother Mark, please accept my bow."
Without giving James a chance to react, Bradley had alreay bowed to them earnestly
My goodness! Caught in a trap!
James looked at Bradley and sighed. Bradley was indeed cunning.
