Chapter 270 The Gunshot of Rebellion

2 PM, Harmony Care Hospital.

James sat still on the bench in the hallway, eyes glued to the emergency room doors, waiting for any news about Mary.

He'd used up all his healing energy on Mya the day before, and his hands were too messed up from the knife cuts to even hold a needle, so he had to let the nurse patch him up.

The nurse cleaned his wounds with alcohol and bandaged him up, but James didn't even flinch. His mind was all on Mary.

He'd checked her out and knew she wasn't in any life-threatening danger, but he still couldn't shake the anxiety.

Around 2:30, Charles and Addison showed up after hearing the news.

"Why is Mary in the hospital again, and why is she in the emergency room?" Addison rushed to the emergency room door, then grabbed James by the collar, and shouted, "What happened to Mary?"

James answered honestly, "Someone drove a car into me. Mary pushed me out of the way to save me, and she got hit."

Addison couldn't hold back and slapped James across the face, yelling, "You bastard, you keep causing trouble for my Mary. I won't even mention the mess you made during the blind date. Let's talk about how many times Mary has been hospitalized because of you. The time before last, she got hurt because you offended Jesse. Last time, she was hospitalized because you offended Joseph. And today, she got hit by a car because of you. When will you stop causing trouble for us?"

Even though she loved money and was super materialistic, Addison genuinely cared about Mary. Seeing her in the hospital so often made her want to strangle James.

Addison continued, "And about the blind date at noon, you should explain it. Because of your interference, Mr. Morris was furious, and the marriage proposal fell through. You cost Mary a good match and The Smith Family a bright future. You must compensate us."

Although Mary hadn't stormed out to catch up to James right after he had, she managed to excuse herself to find James and keep Keith's face.

But they all knew Mary was in a hurry to chase after James.

James didn't fight back, he just stared at Addison and asked, "Do you know who was driving the car?"

"I don't care who it was, the fact is you got her hurt." Addison only cared about the result, "You must take responsibility. No, you need to get out of Mary's life."

James replied calmly, "It was Keith's men."

Reese was furious, "Mr. Morris isn't that kind of person. Don't slander him. You brought this trouble on yourself, don't blame Mr. Morris. I'm telling you, Mr. Morris is an outstanding young man who wouldn't do anything illegal."

She added, "He donates millions of dollars to charity every year."

James coldly replied, "If you want to know, just call and ask him."

He didn't know Marvin and had never dealt with him, but during the battle between Francis and Leopold, he had seen Marvin in Keith's circle.

Thinking about how Mary had chased after him, James realized this was Keith's angry retaliation.

Seeing James so resolute, Charles and Addison exchanged a glance, their anger cooling off a bit, and they fell silent.

"Even if Mr. Morris did it, wasn't it because you provoked him?" Reese continued to defend Keith without any bottom line, "If you hadn't caused trouble, none of this would have happened."

"Get out. We'll take care of Mary. You just get out of here and stop thinking about our money." She pushed James away.

"Yes, Mary's villa number one won't be given to you. Don't think about getting back together to take advantage." Addison was so angry her blood pressure spiked, clutching her chest and staggering a few steps.

"Uncle Charles, take good care of Mary," James said, looking at Charles, who had finally stopped giving him grief. "I'm leaving."

He didn't want to argue with Addison and cause more stress for Mary.

"Don't worry, I'll look after her," Charles assured him, escorting James to the elevator. He then lowered his voice, "Be careful. Keith holds grudges."

James was taken aback but nodded and turned to leave.

Half an hour later, James showed up at Bright Heart Hall Clinic.

Seeing him, Nathaniel and Sebastian rushed over.

"James, how are you? Are your injuries serious?" Nathaniel asked.

"You've been hit by a car, slashed with a knife, and even shot at. It's outrageous," Sebastian fumed.

Everyone gathered around James, concerned and checking his injuries. Mark even brought out a special ointment to apply to his palms.

"Thanks, everyone," James said, touched. "I'm fine. I'll handle this. Don't do anything rash."

He was worried that Sebastian and the others might impulsively go after Keith.

Just then, eight dark green jeeps suddenly roared up to the entrance, blocking several pathways with military precision.

The car doors opened, and thirty-two uniformed men swarmed out.

Each one looked like they were made of steel, an invisible aura of killing intent hanging over them.

In their eyes, besides sheer tenacity, there was a raw ferocity, a savage intensity, a haughty pride that made them seem not human, but a pack of beasts.

Seeing these men, Nathaniel and the others felt a genuine sense of danger.

As James and the others watched, the door of the central car opened, and Eugene emerged with several well-dressed men and women.

The arrogant and haughty Lucy was among them.

James squinted slightly, "Keith's people?"

Eugene was in a formal suit today, wearing a hat. He scanned the room with disdain, then fixed his gaze on James and said, "You are suspected of killing Joe Martinez, Warren Hernandez, and Paul Murphy by the river. Given the severity and complexity of the case, I need to take you back to Stardust City for immediate investigation. After the investigation, you will be transferred to the appropriate authorities according to the relevant laws."

He looked at James arrogantly, "James, you're finished."

James had cut off Keith's income, ruined his plans, and even stolen his woman. James was practically asking for trouble.

James looked at Eugene and his group calmly, "Is this how you abuse power and bully people?"

"Don't resist, or I'll shoot," Eugene said, looking at James with a mocking gaze. "I have permission to kill."

Lucy looked at James with disdain. Facing death, he was still putting on airs? Did he really not understand the gap between him and Keith?

No matter how well Rosewood City did, it couldn't compete with Stardust City.

Seeing Eugene step forward, Nathaniel instinctively blocked his way, "Don't touch James."

Eugene pulled out his gun and fired.

Nathaniel was shot in the calf, blood spurting out, nearly causing him to fall.

The room fell into a dead silence, everyone staring at the blood on the ground in a daze.

No one expected Eugene to shoot so quickly.

Sebastian was furious, "Bastard, shoot me if you dare..."

Eugene shot Sebastian in the shoulder.

Another spurt of blood.

Stephen caught Sebastian just in time to prevent him from falling.

Jared and the others instinctively clutched their fists and took a step forward but stopped when they saw the surrounding uniformed men stepped forward coldly, raising their guns to their heads.

James stopped everyone from acting rashly.

Amid the contemptuous smiles of Lucy and the other women, Eugene took absolute control of the scene with his will, "Take James away! Shoot anyone against it!"
