Chapter 95 Collapsed
Lyla and the others gasped in shock. They couldn't believe that James would dare act so ruthlessly.
After all, Jesse was the manager of Overlord Pharmaceuticals, and Bryan was second only to Jacob. Was James a fool or a madman to attack like this?
What made them even more horrified was that after James stabbed Jesse, his hand holding the knife quickly twisted with significant force.
The move was brutal.
Jesse, eyes wide open, watched the fruit knife twist half a circle and started to scream uncontrollably in horror.
At that moment, he clearly felt the fear of death.
Not just Jesse but everyone watching, including the tough security guards at the club, felt a chill down their spine.
They completely lost the courage to confront James.
They had seen a lot, even personally crippling many people, but they had never seen someone as ruthless as James.
James slowly withdrew the knife, and Jesse immediately collapsed to the ground.
Jesse said, "Are you crazy? I'm Jesse! I'm the manager of Overlord Pharmaceutical! My brother is Bryan!"
He was utterly broken.
This was exactly the effect James wanted.
When dealing with these scoundrels, James either put them down for good or scared them enough to break their courage. Otherwise, they would kept bothering him endlessly.
"I'll say this once. Mary is my woman. If you dare to bully her, I'll take your life." James wiped the fruit knife on Jesse's face and said, "Speak up. Do you have any last words?"
The indifference in his voice sent a shiver through everyone present.
"It's not my fault. It's not my fault!" Jesse's emotions completely collapsed, and he screamed hysterically.
Jesse said, "It was Harry who ordered me to do this. He wanted me to tempt Mary with the secret formula, to sleep with her at all costs. As long as I slept with her, he would give me one million dollars, plus a 30% stake in the new product. Harry is the real culprit. He's the one who wants to harm Mary."
Jesse rapidly spilled out all the details. "Please let me go. I won't dare to do it again."
Betraying someone was shameful and despicable, but Jesse knew that if he didn't beg for mercy, he might not survive the night.
"Harry?" James narrowed his eyes and retracted the blood-stained fruit knife.
James said, "I didn't expect that bastard to be behind this. It seems I was too lenient last night. Fine, I'll spare your life tonight."
Hearing this, Jesse instantly relaxed, collapsing uncontrollably to the ground, crying like a three-year-old child.
Then, James slowly walked over to Lyla.
Seven or eight security guards braced themselves and stepped forward.
James said coldly, "Get lost!"
The burly security guards' eyelids twitched. They wanted to speak but were too dry-mouthed, and eventually, they scattered like frightened birds.
Lyla, who had always been high and mighty, looked pale. She didn't want to lose her usual arrogance but couldn't withstand James's gaze.
She took a step back. "James, what else do you want?"
James stared at her. "Jesse is nothing more than a bully, and you, as the club owner, not only failed to stop him, but even abetted him."
Lyla's eyelids twitched. "It's my poor management."
Isabella angrily accused. "She's the one who drugged the drinks, slapped me, and had the security guards throw me out."
"So what?" Lyla was furious and humiliated. "I'm telling you, I'm not someone you can afford to offend."
Before she could finish her sentence, James had already stabbed her.
Blood splattered from her abdomen.
Lyla's body trembled, and her face instantly turned pale.
She was suddenly terrified.
James nonchalantly withdrew the fruit knife. "I just wanted to see how I can't afford to offend you."
Everyone who used vile means against Mary would pay the price.
Lyla staggered and fell. All her pride shattered.
"I'll give you a week to shut down this club." James grabbed Lyla's long hair and wiped the blood-stained fruit knife. "If you don't close it, I'll kill you."
Lyla's face was filled with despair.
James nodded slightly to Samuel and Isabella. "Let's go to the hospital."
Samuel and the others immediately helped Mary leave.
James played with the fruit knife as he walked.
Neither Jesse's bodyguards nor the club's security dared to challenge him; they all lowered their heads and made way.
They were trying to make a living. There was no need to mess with someone like James.
The four of them quickly disappeared.
Only then did Lyla scream in agony, then she shouted at the security guards. "Hurry up, take Mr. Watson to the hospital."
Vocal Vista descended into chaos.
Half an hour later, six armored vans, resembling cash transport vehicles, arrived at a hospital five hundred meters from the club, blocking the entrance.
The doors opened, and more than twenty people in uniform, military boots, with daggers and steel helmets, emerged. Three of them were holding shotguns.
At first glance, they looked like cash transport guards.
Then, a Mercedes-Benz arrived, and a large bald man with a fierce look and eyes like leopards got out first.
He scanned the surroundings, found no danger, and opened the rear door.
A middle-aged man with a cigar appeared.
His black cloak, three-piece suit, and slicked-back hair all signaled his arrogance.
He exhaled a puff of thick smoke and led his men into the hospital. Before long, he appeared in a special care ward.
The doorway was already crowded with a dozen men and women.
Seeing the middle-aged man, they all murmured, "Mr. Bennett."
Jesse's older brother, Bryan, was the chairman of Secure Horizon Services.
Bryan nodded slightly and then entered the ward. Inside, Jesse lay with his eyes closed while Lyla fiddled with her phone.
"Bryan." Seeing Bryan, Lyla immediately rolled off the bed, ignoring the pain in her abdomen, and called out.
Bryan spoke indifferently, "How is Jesse?"
Lyla quickly replied, "He was stabbed, but it didn't hit any vital organs. He lost some blood, but the wound has been bandaged, and he's temporarily out of danger."
"Who did this?" Bryan asked slowly, "From which family?"
"He's not anyone of note, just a son-in-law living with his wife's family. He's married to Mary and is a recent graduate, only a year out of school." Lyla relayed what she had found out to Bryan. "We haven't dug up all the details yet, but I've had someone tail their car."
Her beautiful eyes flashed with a burning hatred. James's cruelty and arrogance had once driven her to the brink of collapse, and she now hated him to the core.
If she didn't kill James, she wouldn't be able to survive in the future.
Bryan remained calm. "Where are they?"
"Rosewood City First Hospital." Lyla provided an answer. "Probably getting Mary's stomach pumped."
Bryan spoke coldly, "Terry Ward."
Terry immediately ran over. "Big brother, have you found him? Should I shoot him?"
"Shooting him would be too boring." Bryan's tone was icy. "Bring him back. I want to teach him how to respect the Watson family."
