Chapter 320 How Dare You Ignore Me!

Realizing Samantha's excessive innocence, James didn't tease her any further; instead, he felt a bit more tenderness towards her.

The next day, James got up at six to practice martial arts in the backyard.

He wanted to get better at the Ten-Step Kill Technique and Wind and Cloud Steps in case of encountering Bryan again.

As he passed through the back hall, he noticed that the entire hall had changed. Not only was the floor spotless, but the windowsills and corners were also cleaned.

There was a pot of wildflowers on the table, adding a vibrant touch to the hall.

The air was filled with a faint floral fragrance.

James also noticed a lone figure in the kitchen. It wasn't Virgil or Michelle, but Samantha.

He didn't know what time she got up, but the dining table was already filled with a dozen kinds of snacks, a pot of porridge, and a large jug of milk.

Samantha stood nearby, holding a book, muttering to herself while waiting for the eggs in the pot.

Looking at the stubborn and innocent Samantha, James smiled, didn't disturb her, but quietly left the back hall to practice martial arts.

In the morning, after Samantha registered for her job, James didn't let her follow Stephen to learn but dragged her into the car and headed straight to the nearby Galaxy Mall.

Samantha looked at James and asked softly, "Where are we heading to?"

"The mall, to buy clothes. Now that you're an employee of JZL Medical Clinic, you've gotta look the part. Sure, we don't judge by appearances, but if patients see you dressed like that, they'll think the clinic's on its last legs and can't even afford decent threads."

James made up a bunch of reasons to persuade Samantha. "If we can't make money, it means our medical skills are poor. By then, naturally, we will have no patients."

Samantha bit her lip and nodded, clearly believing James's words. She then lowered her eyelashes and touched her empty wallet.

Inside were a little over a hundred dollars, which was the house deposit and the money James had advanced her.

"Don't sweat the cash; it's on the house. It's an employee perk—Nathaniel and the crew get it too." James saw right through her. "But they've got a 4K cap. Since you're new, you're capped at 2K."

"$2,000?" Samantha was floored and waved her hands fast. "That's way too much! I can't blow through that kind of money."

For her, $2K was two years' worth of groceries.

James smiled, "It's not as much as you imagined, that amount could barely afford two or three sets of clothes. After all, we're hanging out at a mall."

Samantha opened her mouth to speak but was silenced by a look from James.

Ten minutes later, James and Samantha arrived at Galaxy Mall.

Although this mall had been around for over a decade and had been overshadowed by other emerging commercial centers, its eighteen-story building was still home to many big brands.

James didn't do much research but directly headed to the fifth floor, which specialized in women's clothing. He then took Samantha to a well-stocked store.

The store was called Butterfly Elegance.

James waved his hand, "Pick whatever you like."

Samantha wanted to refuse but was afraid James would scold her, so she reluctantly walked in, glanced around, and was immediately shocked.

No wonder James said $2,000 would only afford two or three sets of clothes. In this store, even a piece of underwear cost over $200, and a pair of socks cost dozens of dollars.

"James, I really don't need it," She looked at James with pleading eyes. "I have my own clothes."

"If you don't choose, I'll have someone choose for you," James glared at her and then called over a sales assistant, pointing at Samantha. "Based on her size and temperament, pick out three sets of clothes for her, totaling around $2,000."

Samantha looked at James with a complicated expression.

The sales assistant nodded happily, "Understood."

The sales assistant was very capable. In less than ten minutes, she picked out three sets of clothes for Samantha, including underwear, outerwear, and pants.

Then, she led Samantha to try on the clothes.

James directly swiped his card for $2,000, leaving Samantha no room to back out.

Samantha had no choice but to follow and change clothes.

James snorted and then heard his phone vibrate. He picked it up to answer; it was Olivia calling to inform him that Bryan's whereabouts had been discovered.

James moved to the fire escape outside the store to take the call.

A few sales assistants were chatting with the cashier when they suddenly noticed the cashier staring blankly at the fitting room.

One sales assistant couldn't help but gently push her, "What's wrong with you?"

The cashier didn't say anything, still staring ahead.

The sales assistant turned around curiously, and she was also stunned, as if she had been frozen in place.

In her view, Samantha had already come out.

Her slender figure was wrapped in a white shirt and black pants, classic yet vibrant. The shyness at the corners of Samantha's mouth, under the light, seemed to be surrounded by a halo.

No matter which angle the sales assistant took to look at her, she exuded an incredible charm, like Cinderella in a fairy tale wearing crystal shoes.

The sales assistant shook her head vigorously, but she realized it wasn't a dream.

She had seen many beautiful customers, but never one who, just by changing clothes, could exude such an eye-catching aura.

A few passersby at the door were also shocked and quickly took out their phones to take pictures.

Samantha didn't care their shocked expressions; she was eagerly looking for James, wanting his approval and praise.

At that moment, a sudden voice came. "Hey, sweetie, you look pretty good. Come join Carter Entertainment, I promise you, you will become a star!"

At this moment, three lazy-looking young men emerged from the crowd. The leader wore an earring and had a tattoo of the Mystic Alliance on his arm.

His hair was dyed white, his eyes were a bit dark, and he walked unsteadily, giving the impression of someone who stayed up late or indulged too much.

His smile was not only lewd and insincere but also carried a hint of malice, causing passersby to avoid him.

He locked eyes with Samantha, his gaze intense, and handed her a business card. "I'm Gregory Carter, owner of Carter Entertainment. I'm in Rosewood City for the film festival, scouting fresh talent. You've got the look and vibe we're after. I'd love for you to join us. If you sign, we'll front your parents $20K as a welcome bonus. They'll be stoked you're raking it in at your age. We'll go all out to push you—you'll blow up in no time, six months tops."

Gregory used the same lines he had used to deceive other young girls to persuade Samantha. He even reached out to put his arm around her shoulder. "Come on, let's go somewhere else to talk. It will be very beneficial for your career and future."

His two accomplices grinned evilly, as if they could already see Samantha being taken advantage of.

Nowadays, girls blindly chased stardom and desperately wanted to be famous. Just flashing a company business card was enough to win them over without a fight.

But Samantha was destined to disappoint them.

"Sorry, I'm not interested," She refused without hesitation. "Please don't bother me."

At the same time, she looked around, searching for James.

"Not interested in being a star?" Gregory said expressionlessly, "Don't you want to earn a decent salary?"

Samantha ignored him and picked up her phone to call James.

"Fuck, how dare you ignore me!" Gregory grabbed Samantha's phone. "You better consider my offer carefully."

He then smashed the phone on the ground and stomped on it. "You fucking poor bitch, still acting innocent, huh?"
