Chapter 352 Mr. Williams, Please Enjoy
The next morning, James freshened up and headed out to the Lucky Hotel.
Samuel hadn't come to Glowing Oasis, so James drove the Bugatti Veyron that Ollie had gifted him.
The traffic was heavy, and James wasn't familiar with handling a supercar, so by the time he walked into the third-floor restaurant, it was already 7:35 AM.
James didn't need to check his messages for directions; he just zeroed in on Calista and her friend.
It wasn't that he knew Calista personally; Calista and her friend were too eye-catching, practically the center of attention in the entire restaurant.
In one corner sat two stunning women.
One wore a batwing top, a black mini skirt, and knee-high socks, her face exquisitely beautiful.
The contrast between the black socks and her slender thighs created a striking visual impact.
This was Calista.
The other woman looked to be around twenty-seven, with her hair up, wearing a Givenchy blouse and pants.
The top button of her blouse was deliberately left undone, offering a tantalizing glimpse, while the black pants accentuated her perfect curves.
She was Calista's companion, Anneliese Harper.
Calista and Anneliese were both equally stunning and equally aloof, more glamorous than any actress.
Their natural coldness and superiority made countless men feel unworthy, not even daring to sit at the nearby tables.
But they didn't leave either, choosing instead to sit at a distance and whisper among themselves.
Seeing James walk over, they guessed he was the one Calista and Anneliese were waiting for.
Disappointment and disdain immediately appeared on their faces; in their eyes, James was completely unworthy of Calista and Anneliese.
Several people wore expressions of regret.
Calista saw a man walking straight toward her and immediately guessed that this must be James.
She glanced at him, her eyes filled with disappointment.
She had already guessed that a poor kid from Rosewood City wouldn't be anything special, but this was just too underwhelming.
To be fair, James wasn't dressed that badly.
A T-shirt, pants, and canvas shoes—simple and casual. His outfit cost nearly a thousand dollars, and he wore it comfortably.
But Calista had seen too many rich kids and even famous celebrities, so she couldn't help but compare James to them.
Compared to them, James did look like he had just come out of the wilds.
Anneliese, sitting across from Calista, also saw James and looked at him with disdain.
"Olivia really embarrassed our Glowing Oasis girlfriends' team."
In Anneliese's eyes, James didn't even meet the minimum standard.
The men in their circle were either rich or handsome and elegant.
And they were all capable.
"Hey, are you Ms. Day?" James approached table number eight and looked at the most dominant woman.
"Yeah, I'm Calista." Calista nodded, unwilling to give up. "Are you James?"
She couldn't believe that even though Olivia had left for Rosewood City early, her taste wouldn't be this bad. Even if she didn't like Micah, she should have found someone worth billions.
Otherwise, how could he be worthy of being the grandson-in-law of the richest man?
"Yeah, I'm James." James sat down. "What does Olivia want you to tell me? Can't she come out to see me?"
"Who do you think you are?" Anneliese's face was full of mockery. "Olivia is the princess of our circle, and you think you can just see her whenever you want?"
"We're already doing you a huge favor by coming out to meet you."
"And you, why did you come to Glowing Oasis when you weren't invited?"
"This place is nothing like your backward little town."
Anneliese, born and raised in a big city, looked at James with disdain. "I really don't know what Olivia sees in you."
At this moment, a tall waitress came over and served breakfast to Calista and Anneliese.
The breakfast was lavish: a portion of baked eggs, a pound of lobster meat, a slice of pancake, a glass of milk, and three ounces of caviar.
Each breakfast cost $6,888.
The waitress then asked James if he wanted breakfast as well.
James wasn't hungry. "No, thank you."
"Can't even afford breakfast?" Anneliese's eyes were full of contempt. "You really are a poor guy. Do you want me to treat you?"
James replied calmly, "No, thanks. I have my own breakfast."
"You have breakfast? What kind of breakfast, two pieces of bread?" Anneliese's tone was relentless. "If you're broke, just admit it. Stop pretending."
She despised people who had no skills but pretended to be in control.
Calista also pursed her lips, saying nothing, but her disdain for James was evident.
Seeing Anneliese's superior attitude, James wanted to snap at her, but thinking of Olivia, he decided to focus on the main issue.
"How is Olivia doing now? Is she being held against her will?" James's eyes flashed with concern. "If she can't see me, can't she at least call?"
"Olivia is fine; she just can't contact you right now." Calista leaned back in her chair, her legs crossed, her waist forming an enticing curve. "Don't try to find her. It's not good for either of you."
Calista took a sip of milk. "She'll contact you in a few days."
James narrowed his eyes. "What exactly happened to her?"
"She's fine," Calista repeated. "Olivia asked us to meet you to tell you that she's fine and you don't need to worry. You should leave Glowing Oasis and return to Rosewood City as soon as possible. In no more than a month, she'll come to find you."
With that, Calista took out her phone and played a recording. It was indeed Olivia's voice.
Olivia asked James to forgive her for leaving without saying goodbye. She had returned to Glowing Oasis to take care of her seriously ill grandfather and assured James not to worry about her safety.
She then asked James not to stay in Glowing Oasis and to return to Rosewood City to focus on his career, followed by a promise to visit him at JZL Medical Clinic within a month.
"Did you hear that?" Calista turned off her phone. "That's Olivia's voice, right?"
James nodded. From her tone, he could tell she wasn't physically harmed. But James could sense that she was being forced.
Calista sighed in relief. "Now you can go back to Rosewood City with peace of mind, right?"
"She's safe, but I can tell she's facing some difficulties." James looked at Calista. "Tell me what's going on with Olivia. I'll help her."
Anneliese rolled her eyes, a look of disdain flashing in her eyes. "That's thoughtful of you."
Calista smiled on the surface but was equally disdainful inside. She, a woman with assets worth over a billion, surrounded by heirs and wealthy socialites, couldn't solve Olivia's problems. What could James, a country boy from Rosewood City, possibly do?
No power, no influence, and yet he spoke so arrogantly. His character was really poor. Calista was completely disappointed in James and thought she must persuade Olivia to forget about him.
"But Olivia has no problems. As I said, she's fine. The less you bother her, the better," Calista spoke calmly. "Just go back to Rosewood City."
James's eyes turned cold. "I want to know Olivia's situation."
So arrogant! Anneliese couldn't hold back and laughed in anger. "You want to know Olivia's situation? And then what? What can a poor guy like you solve? You're not even as good as me. I'm worth over a billion dollars, running a chain of beauty salons, and I can call hundreds of people with one phone call. I can't help Olivia, so what can you do?"
Anneliese waved her hand. "Just go back and stop embarrassing yourself."
James's tone was firm. "I'm not leaving until I see Olivia."
Calista lightly swung her high-heeled shoe, looking at James with impatience. "Enough, James. Stop pretending. It's really pointless. I know you want to get close to Olivia and change your life. But the Lee family isn't something you can just approach. They won't let you in."
She continued, "Give up on that idea. And stop talking about helping Olivia. That kind of pretentious heroism is laughable. You can't even afford the $6,888 breakfast here. How can you help Olivia?"
Calista pointed at the luxurious breakfast, her eyes full of mockery. Anneliese also pursed her lips.
"Mr. Williams, this is the breakfast I made for you!" At that moment, a respectful voice sounded. "Please enjoy!"
It was Kaida.
